View 7 RepliesI've been trying to get my Hauppauge USB Live 2 video grabber to work under Ubuntu 10.04. I have installed the drivers, and using TVTime I get a perfect picture - but no sound, and also I can't record with it. I have found a guide on how to get it with sound using MythTV, but it seems I fail at setting it up. It tells me it couldn't find the backend server, but it's running in my terminal.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have looked at several Podcast retrieving applications. However, none I have found so far do anything good with the Podcast information.
Almost every podcast contains tags that could be populated into metadata tags, it would seem, fairly easily. Having a podcast grabber that did so would certainly simplify using them on my iPod.
My gnome panel currently looks like this:
The panel is not expanded and the autohide buttons are not checked. As you can see I've set the background to transparent and removed the shadow via ccsm. The only thing that doesn't look nice are the "grabbers" to move the panel arround. Can they be modified to be transparent too? Maybe editing the theme?
I cannot set the panel to expand because I use a dock which would be partly covered by the panel.
I have a few AWS instances (linux micro, fedora-like) that occasionally (4x every 24hours) trip a CloudWatch monitor for CPU utilization. alarm => 85% at 5 minute slices.
The problem with this is that we're unsure WHAT is causing it. I have an idea to poll cpu usage every 5 mins and if there's a spike (eg, => 85%) then dump some process table stuff exposing the offenders.
Recently I have working on an older robot that I got which happens to have an onboard computer (Versalogic VSBC-8) on which I was able to install Lenny on. This system also has a Imagenation PCX200 frame grabber installed on it as well. The problem I am having is that no matter which software I use in Lenny, webcam, etc, etc I either get an error that the device is in use or I get a blank screen, The camera that is hooked up to it works fine as I had tested it on another pc. I also verified that the permissions were set correctly for the device in /dev
I have been googling for any kind of information on how to get this working with Lenny without much luck, before I had installed Lenny it had an old version of Redhat 8 installed on it, unfortunately the hard drive died and it was replaced, hence lenny.
I would like to give an idea I had for software (maybe a script). Where would be the best place for this on this site or elsewhere on the Internet? The idea is some software that will grab and put into a list all the streams available on various Internet TV sites such as URL.... I think such software could be very helpful for various open source software like XBMC Element HTPC and others. There are thousands of channels available on that site alone.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using 64-bit F12 with the 64-bit Adobe flash plugin from leigh123linux's yum repo. For the last day or two, whenever trying to play a Hulu video in Fedora, I get the error "Sorry, we are unable to stream this video. Please check your Internet connection and try again." Previously it worked in Fedora, and it works normally in Windows on the same machine, so I'm guessing the problem is at Hulu's end. Are any other Fedora users seeing this?
Edit: Just checked a 32-bit F12 box with the Flash plugin from Adobe's yum repo and Hulu works on that. So this problem seems to be limited to 64-bit Fedora.
I have a logitech usb webcam on Opensuse 11.4/Gnome, and problems with skype. I managed to put the sound, but the video is not working. It is working although on Kopete (I installed it for the test).
View 9 Replies View RelatedI just updated Fedora 11. Kernel got updated to 2.6.30.8-64.fc11.i686.PAE. But during boot it says that nvidia drivers couldn't be enabled. It works perfectly well in the lower kernel versions. Am I the only one facing the problem? I've nVidia Corporation C51 [Geforce 6150 Go] (rev a2) in my laptop.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI can't seem to figure out how to get the S-Video output working on my T41, and most of the info that I seem to be finding is for older versions before xrandr so files and settings don't seem to match.
I know that it's not a hardware/cable problem because this exact setup works fine under windows (even though there i'm working with a hacked video driver setup since one doesn't exist for any of the "modern" versions of windows, ati radeon 7500 (mobile))
I am new to Ubuntu & I just upgraded to the 10.4 version. It will not allow me to play any videos on the internet. I have attempted to download Flashplayer & it comes up with an error. I have downloaded the Ubuntu recommended extras file and the videos still don't work.

I killed windows and jumped to Ubuntu after thinking about it. I know windows systems very well and been on the PC starting in the DOS age.
First off. I think I have everything going. I had issues with the display and sound. I got the sound working thanks to these forums...but I have "tossed" some code in the command window that I have no clue what it does or if it worked.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a movie CD which works on windows but not on ubuntu. It has vcdplay.exe. (Probably that is the reason it doesn't work on ubuntu) I tried with wine roxio. Doesn't work. I have tried with xine, gxine, vlc and movie player. Inside the vcd, it has an mpegv folder. Inside the mpegv folder there is file avesq.dat. I tried copying it on to desktop, but it wont copy properly and I can't rename the file to just avesq instead of avesq.dat.Any idea how can we make such an auto run CD work on ubuntu?

View 13 Replies View Relatedi just downloaded and installed opensuse 11.3 64 bit kde on my laptop.
all my hardware seems to be working fine.
i installed the drivers for my nvidia video card, and 3d is working along with kde's desktop effects.
i installed all my favourite firefox extensions including video downloadhelper downloadhelper - media download firefox extension an extension that can download videos from videos and other video sites.
all of my installed firefox extensions seem to be working except video downloadhelper.
when i try to download videos with it nothing happens.
previously i had opensuse 11.2 gnome 64 bit installed on my laptop, and the video downloadhelper extension worked fine.
i think this problem might have something to do with the way opensuse integrates firefox with kde.
after the upgrade to firefox 3.5.9 yesterday, video from my internet camera doesn't appear. Firefox loads the web page from the camera, but the box in the web page containing the video stream doesn't show up.my system is opensuse 11.1, 64-bit. I temporarily downgraded to firefox 3.0.18 and the video worked as usual. By shutting off plugins, I found it was the IcedTea Java web browser plugin 1.6.2 that was driving the video. so I upgraded back to firefox 3.5.9, started looking for an upgraded version of the Java plugin, but the software manager shows that the latest is java-1_6_0-openjdk-plugin (1.6.2_b16-0.1.1 x86_64) and that it is already installed.

I'm trying to get ubuntu working w/ 3 monitors. I have been given 2 video cards
lspci | grep VGA
20:01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RV620 LE [Radeon HD 3450]
25:05:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV44A [GeForce 6200] (rev a1)
I have had it working w/ two monitors plugged into the ATI correctly. and the nVidia monitor blank. Now I have the nVidia monitor working and one monitor from the ATI working, but I can't seem to get the last monitor to show anything. It does show the boot screen and works up until the point you are presented w/ the login screen for ubuntu, then it disappears and the nVidia monitor turns on. Might I have something wrong w/ my xorg.conf or do I need to do something more to get this to work? Currently I'm seeing this error in my Xorg.0.log file, but I'm not sure where to go from here:
[ 24.746] (EE) RADEON(2): reusing fd for second head

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an issue with Skype video similar to this thread [URL] where the test video doesn't work and I only see a white screen from my own webcam. The receivers can see my video and I can see their video, however. Video from my webcam works fine in Cheese and Guvcview. It seemed to start after I loaded the Compiz-config-settings-manager in an effort to fix video tearing (didn't work). Also Kdenlive now crashes every time I try to run a clip, but it was working great before. Even if I remove CompizConfig I still have the problem.
