Hardware :: No Audio From Motherboard M3a32 MVP Deluxe Wi/Fi / Ubuntu Lucid 10.4?
May 24, 2010
Intro: Let me start by saying I've spent two days researching this issue and resolution. I am a noob to Linux, but I've done tons of research as I like to resolve my issues on my own. From the time I've spent with Ubuntu 10.4 Lucid over the past couple of weeks, I'm loving it and want to stick with it. I have it dual booting on my Laptop with no issues.
System:Motherboard: M3a32-MVP Deluxe Wi/FiVideo Card: ATI Radeon 3870 512 GBRam: 8GB corsair (4x2GB)HDD: Uh, several, there are 5 HDD's installed on my system with several OS's.Problems: No Audio from MB, Raid controller not working. My main concern right now is my audio. I have 2 512 GB Maxtor drives in Raid0 running Win7 Ultimate that I can't access, but like I said, the audio is more important.
I have audio coming from the HDMI port in the video card, but it's choppy. I'd rather use my MB's audio device anyway so I can utilize my surround sound system. I've obtained the Linux drivers from ASUS but don't know how to install them. Besides that, in sound preferences, it appears to be loaded and I've tried every combination of settings possible. And before you ask.. It's not muted, (this seems to be the typical first smart a$$ response to noobs regarding sound).aplay -l

Just installed opensuse 11.4 using a new motherboard, the MSI H67MA-E35. According to the book that came with the Motherboard it has a Intel H67 chipset and a "HD audio codec integrated by Realtek ALC887". Also have an older Hauppague TV card installed in the system. Not setting the sound quality I would expect. By this I mean that the audio played by webpages is low. And the audio played by the TV card is distorted. The volume control is ineffective. The only way I can adjust the volume is by the control on the speakers. Perhaps it is just as simple as setting opensuse to use a different soundcard?
I have run the script also-inso.sh and the results were uploaded to: [URL]..
The other information requested is as follows: alsa-devel-1.0.24.1-4.9.1.x86_64 alsa-utils-1.0.24.2-3.1.x86_64 alsa-plugins-32bit-1.0.24-6.1.x86_64 alsa-oss-1.0.17-32.1.x86_64 alsa-plugins-pulse-32bit-1.0.24-6.1.x86_64 alsa-plugins-1.0.24-6.1.x86_64
This is a problem that I have had since Ubuntu 8.04 when the sound on my system stopped working. I have an Intel DG33BU motherboard with audio onboard.
I originally had 7.04 installed on the system (sound worked fine) and did an upgrade to 8.04 for a couple of reasons and found the sound no longer worked.
I have since upgraded to 10.10 and despite trolling various audio threads have yet to get the sound working again. I have noted that when the system boots up there is a quick message (approximately from memory) 9.32.0061: audio codec not found for hda-intel.
Is there a troubleshooting guide or information someone can point me toward as I would like to solve this problem?
I have been trying to use the information at [URL]... otingProcedure to work through the problem.
Output:
WARNING: All config files need .conf: /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf.083110, it will be ignored in a future release. WARNING: All config files need .conf: /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf-bak, it will be ignored in a future release.
I'm trying to get audio working on a new Intel DQ67EP motherboard. lspci -v shows:
Code:
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 6 Series Chipset Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 04) Subsystem: Intel Corporation Unknown device 200f Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 7
[code]....
Googling around, I've learned that 6 Series Chipset blah blah is generally driven by the snd-hda-intel driver. But when I modprobe that, it isn't magically connecting to this audio chip. My kernel is Linux 2.6.27.8 #1 SMP Thu Sep 23 17:21:53 GMT 2010 i686 Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600S CPU @ 2.80GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux (derived from Slax 6.0.9) Is there a place I should be going to find newer drivers? Or perhaps there is some bleeding edge patch I should be applying? (Intel's web site is useless. They only give Windows drivers for audio. I did get the ethernet working by using their latest e1000e driver.)
I've been trying very unsuccessfully to get lm-sensors to work with my Asus P7P55D-E Deluxe Hybrid motherboard. It sports an Intel i7 Quadcore processor. Here is a link to everything that is in the computer:[URL]..Pretty much I'd like to do the sensors and get the turbo-v working. Does anyone know how to do this? The important thing is the sensors. I'm running Ubuntu 9.10 (10.4 had to many bugs at present).
i cant get ubuntu to install on this board live usb ,desktop, alternate or cd alternate nothing i can get to the screen where you choose options i can pick the things i want and hit enter then get a non blinking cursor the board is pretty new so i can t seem to find anything about it Google gives me a few people running Linux on it if i use the alternate i get to the detecting hardware section and it locks up.
i installed the wubi but that wont work either there is a short 5 second splash screen the te1lls you to push esc for options ive tried all the options and it wont boot either i have even tried the newest fedora it locks up just about the same place. i wonder if its a bios setting or some acpi stuff but i dont know this board even offers usb3 and sata 3 so is linux just lagging behind a bit? i tried emailing asrock and got a bad English response saying they offer no linux support

I am thinking about buying this TV card, but I don't know, whether it is possible to run this card under ubuntu and work with it or not, because I don't see any drivers and software on the official site.
i have an Asus P7p55D Deluxe motherboard and the audio seems to be working but the mic don't =/ besides that i have an Ati card that also have a hdmi output.
i was recently running the latest xubunto, and decided to upgrade when the upgrade manager offered me however ever since vie upgraded my sound no longer works neither does wine. I have reinstalled wine but nothing has happened but i am at a loss of what to do with the sound. It used to work with no extra configuration before the upgrade i am running a dell inspiron 530.
I preface this by saying that all other forms of CDs and DVDs work perfectly in this machine - the problem relates exclusively to Audio CDs, either burnt or bought.
When I put and Audio CD in the drive, the mounting process starts, takes longer than usual, and during this process, the desktop icons flash off then back on again, then the CD mounts and I get an icon on the desktop.
If I right-click and select Open, the desktop icons flash off and on again, and nothing else happens.
If I right-click and select Open with Rhythmbox, the same thing happens - desktop icons flash off and on, and nothing else happens. Rhthymbox is not listed in the active processes either.
If I open Movie Player, and click on Movie in the menu, the Play disc 'Audio disc' option is greyed out.
If Rhythmbox is running, and I insert an Audio CD in the drive, Rhythmbox crashes and won't start again until I remove the Audio CD, then all is well again.
When I select Eject to remove the Audio CD, the desktop icons flash off and on again, then the CD ejects.
I'm running Ubuntu 11.04 (also Classic, don't really care.) I'm trying to install [Greeting Card Factory DELUXE V7] Can anyone help me or does anyone have any clue whatsoever if this can be achieved?
All audio and sounds work just fine until I close my laptop's lid for a spell and reopen. On resume, there is simply no sound at all. It's all fixed when I restart, but being a laptop, I like being able to close the lid and come back to it every now and then.
I believe it's an issue from when Ubuntu changed their audio in the transition between Jaunty and Karmic, and it never got fixed. FYI, it worked just fine in Jaunty.
From past postings and research, it seems to be a lack of something 'waking up' or restarting when the lid opens. However, it's not 'alsa restart' or 'pulseaudio restart' or whatever. It's one little bug that keeps me from having sound without a restart.
I've tried to use Amarok and Rhythymbox, and neither one will play an Audio CD. Rhythymbox will play music files from an external hard drive, but won't play a CD.
I am having problems burning audio CDs with Brasero 2.30.0 after my upgrade to 10.04. I was trying to burn a .wav file to CD but Brasero ejects the media without burning anything after transcoding the wav file and creating an image. I'm attaching the error log to aid in debugging.I can burn data CDs fine. My burner, a Samsung SM-308B, can't burn DVDs so I don't know about burning them.
In 10.04 lucid my SONY CRX 140E drive reads data CDs but does not even read and audio CDs. This was not the case in Hardy and I dual boot and just checked in Windows and audio CDs are no problem there.
I am running a 64-bit version of lucid that I just upgraded the other day. At first everything was working fine, but after some upgrades (don't remember which ones) I get an oss4-dkms error and I have no audio.
I have tried a bunch of things that I found online, but nothing has seemed to work and at this time I am a little lost.
I can play a video on XP, but there's no audio in Lucid. The hardware is a Lenovo SL400, 2GB RAM, 7200rpm drive w/ 36GB free, and an Intel T5870 Core 2 Duo 2GHz CPU.Media player and Banshee fails to play the video with the error messageNo packages with the requested plugins foundThe requested plugins areWindows Media Audio 9
Avidemux crashes when I try to open the 6.3GB file, which I can play with audio AOK in XP. Assert failed :_offset<=pakSize at line 352, file /build/buildd/avidemux-2.5.2/avidemux/ADM_inputs/ADM_asf
Recently installed Ubuntu 9.1 following an easy how to. The install session went really well, smooth and only had one little speed bump when deciding which drive to install to (running raid and did not want to loose other partition). Like most speed bumps I got passed it. Ran all the updates then decided to start listening to music with Rythmbox Music Player. The sound coming out of my Klipsch Pro Media 4.1 was muffled and sounded like just the subwoofer was on. I checked all connections and they were fine. I tried looking for equalizer but did not find it and then noticed the sound was like a skipping record. So I looked it up and came across some posts that I could not figure out if they were for my problem. Seemed to me they were just leading me in circles.
I used my old RAM in my new PC. The RAM was rated for 533mhz but the motherboard could not run it below 667mhz. Today I was using tdfsb (3D file system browser) in my music folder (which has a lot of files/folders) the PC froze. After 20min I pulled the plug and it started back up properly. After some updates later that day, I tried to reboot. All it did was shut down and light up the fanlights instead of restarting. I tried resetting the battery. With the old motherboard, bad RAM would cause beeps and I hear no beeps. The board is a Gigabyte GA-MA785GM-US2H. The CPU an Athlon II x2 255. RAM failure would cause beeps or not.
I want to listen to this audio file: [URL] but my real player 11.0.0.4028 gold desn play it, it says that there is a codec 28_8 missing, I go to relaplayer page, download the last release available for linux systems, but the message is the same : audio codec missing and doesn't play the audio.
I havev tried to play the audio with smplayer (not luck), vlc can play the audio but the pause button doesn't work so I have to listen the entire audio all the time I stop it playing. Is there any audio player capable od reproducing in the proper way this audio in ubuntu? No one of my video players totem, smplayer, realplayer or vlc are capable of playing this video: [URL]
I am fed up of listening to my (Windows XP) gaming computer through headphones so I want to get it hooked to the stereo.
Rather than use a heck of a lot of wire, I can sit my Ubuntu 9.10 netbook on top of the stereo and stream the audio across WiFi.
So, ideally what I am after is something to capture the outgoing audio on the Windows computer, stream it across the wifi to the Ubuntu netbook and finally play it through the speakers.
Recently my motherboard has been dying and the warentee is gone so I decieded it was upgrade time. I need to know if there is anything special I need to do for Ubuntu to work on my computer after the new hardware is installed. I currently have a 32 bit motherboard and processor and am switching over soon. GRUB 2 handles my boot and I know I have some extra stuff to do on windows 7 but I was wondering what I needed to do to get my computer to boot up after the upgrade.
I just upgraded to an ASUS P8P67 Pro (Sandy Bridge) motherboard and moved my old hard drive to the new case. Windows 7 and XP are running smoothly. Ubuntu, however, doesn't detect the Ethernet adapter or doesn't have a suitable driver. ASUS doesn't offer Linux drivers for this motherboard. Is there a way to make Ubuntu revert to a default, working driver?
I have tried installing both 10.10 and 11.04 on a older motherboard . The install seems to go smooth till it gets to the "who are you" screen and then there is no forward button lite up.
I had installed Ubuntu 9.10 edition many times but I was unable to play audio/video,access to internet etc. where will I get the motherboard drivers for Ubuntu.
