If you also experience this same scenario, there is a quick fix. As root, load /usr/bin/sunbird into a text editor of your choice. Edit the line:
moz_libdir=/usr/lib/sunbird-1.0b2pre
to read:
moz_libdir=/usr/lib/sunbird-1.0pre
I suppose that would be /usr/lib64/ if you're using 64 bit OS.
Whether this was a glitch in the delta rpm rebuild (yum presto) that only might have effected me, or a packaging snafu that's going to catch everyone, I don't know at this time.
A package nss >= 3.12.8 is not available. But it is needed by thunderbird update in the course of "yum update". yum exits with RC 1.Is "--skip-broken" the right way to exclude the thunderbird update ("Resolve depsolve problems by removing packages that are causing problems from the transaction")? Have had a clean perfectly working copy of 2.6.31.6-166 for months and after two updates to 2.6.31.12-174.2.3 and 2.6.31.12-174.2.19, neither of the newer kernel versions will allow machine to boot properly. Start-up hangs at the preload daemon with a flickering screen. To use machine, must use grub chooser and choose the original base kernel.
Running on Tyan h2000m board, opteron 2356, Nvidia 9800 GTX+ and 12GB of dram with SELinux security enabled.

The services appeared to be set to start CUPS automatically, but today again it wasn't running. Looking at messages, I now have the following 'errors' that appear to be disabling CUPS due to some form of load dependency.

The relevant details of my setup are:
Samsung R522 laptop
Realtek RTL8192E wireless network controller (PCI)
Fedora 12, kernel 2.6.32.9-70.fc12.i686 (automatically updated using software update)
My problem is that my wireless card has never worked - basically there aren't any widely available linux drivers, and there are many threads on getting the RTL8192E to work on many different forums, e.g. here, but none specifically for Fedora, so I think that this thread could potentially guide many more users. FYI, my hardwired network connection works perfectly.
Fantastically however, by emailing Realtek support, they'll send you their Linux driver, which most people have claimed works perfectly (although why they haven't just put it on their website is beyond me). SO, I've got a Linux driver for my wireless card. When Realtek emailed me to send me the driver, they said to just 'cd' into the driver directory, then do
su
make clean
make
make install
reboot
./wlan0up or ./wlan1up
OK, so I tried to do this and get the following error:
make: *** /lib/modules/2.6.32.9-70.fc12.i686/build: No such file or directory. Stop.

I don't know enough about linux to understand this error. I really don't want to have to recompile my kernel, and I hope there is some way to install this driver with not too much hassle. How to overcome this error, and install my wireless driver so I can get wireless network access on my Fedora 12 operating system. I've found Fedora 12 really easy to use so far, but this is proving quite hard!

I just set up a FC 12 server and would like to disable the nightly YUM update. However, it appears that the following doesn't work:

I decided to hit the update icon.It did not finish updating before the power was interrupted. How I get an Error occurred. stating, " E:dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run'dpkg--configure -a'to correct the problem. E:_cache->open()failed,please report. I am lost how to correct this script error.I am sure it is easy. I can open google earth that was downloaded, but not the web.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to get VLC to work streaming RTP audio/video over my office network. The goal is multicast a/v streaming. In all test cases, we are streaming from VLC to VLC. I am able to stream from Windows to Windows, and from Fedora to Windows, but not from Windows to Fedora. Additionally, I am unable to receive a LOCAL stream from one instance of VLC to another, within Fedora.
I don't see any reason why this would be. The buffer indicator (where the elapsed/total time is normally displayed) never shows any connectivity, so it would appear to be a network problem, but since I am able to stream from Fedora to Windows (same IP, same port) I thought it would be something else.Does anyone know of a solution to this issue?
EDIT: Correction to previous edit: the IGMPv3 protocol was just not being picked up by Wireshark. Reverting to IGMPv2, I am able to pick up the Membership Report, Join, and Leave group packets from the Linux machine. I'm using the GUI to configure the following:

I hadn't powered this one up in a long time and when I did, of course, the Update Manager informed me there were a LOT of updates (around 400 files) and of course I said OK.
It never quite completes, giving me an error message. Apparently two different packages are trying to over write each other's data.
The two packages that fail to update are
kdelib5-data and gnome-settings-daemon
and I really don't know what to do about it.
although isn't kde one desktop environment and gnome another? And Xfce yet a third?

I have ubuntu 9.10 installed at the moment, and when I update it to 10.04, through update, I still get the same message.
If I were installing from a cd like I was, I could MD5 test the ISO I downloaded and check the CD for defects, but what about when all I'm doing is updating from the update manager?
On two Centos5 servers, yum gives a segmentation fault error when trying 'yum update' or 'yum check-update' after running 'yum clean' :

The error is the same for the other computer except while attempting to update the rpmforge repository. Nothing has really changed on the servers in some time and 'yum update' worked fine on each yesterday and I have no idea why they would both suddenly fail!
Recently upgraded from FC11 to FC12, and lost the ability to print to my network printer. Couldn't figure it out, though I can continue to print from an old FC9 server, so I know it's not the print server, Netgear PS110 or the printer Samsung ML-2510. In desperation, I upgraded to FC13, and still no dice. Don't think it's a network problem as I've tried with a disabled local firewall (I'm behind a network firewall) and even disabled SELinux.
If I go through system-config-printer, I probe for network printers, and can discover the print server, but the queue is wrong (it has two ports, P1 and P2.) Neither PASSTHRU or manually written P1, the connected port, work. It will spool, then disappear. I'm using the Samsung ML-2150 Driver which I understand works for this printer and used to work on FC9, because the printer is not listed directly in CUPS' database.
