I have been unable to burn CD's / DVD's while logged into FC12 with a full GDM session or with just the Gnome Greeter running. If I drop to single user mode and use wodim I can burn w/o issue.

I have configured the Adobe repos and when I try to install Adobe Reader, yum gives me the following error:

Obviously if I try to remove nss-softokn-freebl it tries to remove all of Fedora , looked in Koji but there is nothing in there either.
I am trying to set up k3b. It complains about a missing mp3 decoder. Following this solution, I set up yum to use the livna repository and then found I actually needed the rpmfusion repo, so set that up as well. Now when I run "yum install k3b-extras-nonfree", I end up with a transaction error: Transaction Check Error: file /usr/lib64/libfaad.so.2.0.0 from install of faad2-libs-1:2.7-1.fc11.x86_64 conflicts with file from package libfaad2-1:2.7-16.fc12.x86_64
Any idea why the repo is trying to install faad2-libs x86_64 1:2.7-1.fc11 rpmfusion-free when all the other objects are correctly shown as fc12 and how do I get around this without breaking something which is already installed?
When attempting to install FC12 x86_64 on a Dell Optiplex 760, my USB devices stop working after initial boot. I see anaconda, but am unable to change anything since my keyboard, mouse and any other USB devices are not powering up after kernel boot.

I have a tricky problem which I could soIve with a c program. I wrote one and found I didnt have gcc so I tried to install it. I was told I needed to install packages. I acknowledged and an error was generated gcc-4.4.2-7.fc12.i686 requires libgomp = 4.4.2-7.fc12 I try to install libgomp and go round again.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was at school today, where one of the computers had Ubuntu installed (for an advanced Operating Systems class). I happened to notice that the newest version of Ubuntu, happens to have a version of Nautilus that fixes the ONLY problem I have with it: instead of opening a new freakin window for every file you open, it opens it in a new tab of sorts; anyway, I decided that I REALLY want this, so I took a look at the version of Nautilus, and saw it was version 2.3.1 I downloaded the source files for it, but in poking around online, I have discovered absolutely no mention of Nautilus 2.3.1 on any Fedora Cores other than 13, and 14; and even those are usually in association w/ Gnome 2.3 which I've learned from a different thread, is not available for FC12. So I just want to know, before I dive into something potentially overwhelming, whether or not it can even be done. Has anyone successfully installed Nautilus 2.3 onto FC12? how did you go about it?

I have just tried to upgrade to Ubuntu 10.10 from 10.04 using the update manager
It asks me for me password and then a window opens saying "Upgrading Ubuntu to version 10.10"
It gets to "setting new software channels" then a message pops up saying "third party sources disabled" next a little error icon appears in the Notification Area then another message saying: Could not calculate the upgrade
An unresolvable problem occurred while calculating the upgrade: E:Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages.
This can be caused by:
-Upgrading to a pre-release version of Ubuntu
-Running the current pre-release version of Ubuntu

Attempting to compile an application that is not located in any of the repos yet for 11.3 64 bit. I have downloaded the appropriate src and untarred it. I have made sure that I have all kernel-headers packages installed and am unsure as how to proceed. I tried using the command "./configure --build=x86_64" and then receive an error stating that the "SYSTEM IS NOT SUPPORTED" and continued errors stating that gcc is not installed, eve though it is.
Is it possible for plymouth to work with the ATI Catalyst driver installed in Fedora 15 x86_64?
Is it that plymouth requires KMS and Catalyst doesn't provide it? With the nvidia driver, I could put a vga= line in grub and plymouth would run. Is there something similar for catalyst?
I've installed Fedora 13 x86_64 and am not able to hibernate (though suspend works fine). This is the case either with or without the proprietary Nvidia drivers from rpmfusion. When I click System -> Shut Down -> Hibernate, the screen just goes dark. Moving the mouse activates the display and the password confirmation box appears. Judging by the disk activity light, nothing is written to disk. Swap space is configured correctly.
Looking at the last few lines of /var/log/pm-suspend.log I see this:
It looks like grub (or the absence of grub.conf) is interfering. Problem is, I'm not even using Fedora's grub to boot the system. I'm dual booting with Ubuntu 8.04 and am using that grub. The section from that grub's menu.lst is:
But of course Ubuntu 8.04 is pre grub2 so how do I satisfy Fedora's grub.config without messing this up?

Im trying to setup pwm config on this computer so that the fans wont come on to loud. Motherboard is DFI lanparty JR p45-t2rs. there is pwm hardware, as i have used pwm config in arch on the same computer. any pointers you can give me to get pwm control working on this pc? edit: during sensors detect. im told that the it87 module is needed. but i cannot load it:

The services appeared to be set to start CUPS automatically, but today again it wasn't running. The relevant details of my setup are:
Samsung R522 laptop
Realtek RTL8192E wireless network controller (PCI)
Fedora 12, kernel 2.6.32.9-70.fc12.i686 (automatically updated using software update)
My problem is that my wireless card has never worked - basically there aren't any widely available linux drivers, and there are many threads on getting the RTL8192E to work on many different forums, e.g. here, but none specifically for Fedora, so I think that this thread could potentially guide many more users. FYI, my hardwired network connection works perfectly.
Fantastically however, by emailing Realtek support, they'll send you their Linux driver, which most people have claimed works perfectly (although why they haven't just put it on their website is beyond me). SO, I've got a Linux driver for my wireless card. When Realtek emailed me to send me the driver, they said to just 'cd' into the driver directory, then do
su
make clean
make
make install
reboot
./wlan0up or ./wlan1up
OK, so I tried to do this and get the following error:
make: *** /lib/modules/2.6.32.9-70.fc12.i686/build: No such file or directory. Stop.

I don't know enough about linux to understand this error. I really don't want to have to recompile my kernel, and I hope there is some way to install this driver with not too much hassle. How to overcome this error, and install my wireless driver so I can get wireless network access on my Fedora 12 operating system. I've found Fedora 12 really easy to use so far, but this is proving quite hard!

I have downloaded Fedora 11 x64, and I went to the adobe website and downloaded the tar.gz file for flash player. I went into the terminal to untar the file and after I did that I tried to install it and got this error :
ERROR: Your architecture, 'x86_64', is not supported by the Adobe Flash Player installer. What does this mean? My dad could get his to install but his is 32 bit.Do I have to wait until the full version is out?
