General :: Surf The Net, Email, Everything But Get Maptool To Recognize Correct IP?
Oct 12, 2010
I am hoping someone out there is an avid dungeons and dragons player who possibly uses maptool. I am having issues getting connected to a server. I can't even join a server. This is making me barking mad. Everything else seems to work great. I can surf the net, email, everything but get maptool to recognize my correct IP.
I am new to the community and have just recently loaded Ubuntu 10.04. I think I made an error when I first launched Evolution, how can I get back into the wizard to add/correct the e-mail password?
I have just bought a used Asus Eee pc 2g surf. I travel a lot and the Asus fits my needs on travels, but i have serious problrms installing java. I have never used Linux before. I have manage to download java and open and accepted the licens. The problem now is to go further and get it to work. I don't know Linux and wher to go ind and give the right commands to link Java to Mozilla. I have read a lot about how to do it. It is so easy they say but for me it is not. I dont know where i am going in, program to open. I have struggled for a week now.
I would like to use Linux in a VMWare Player window within Windows 7 to circumvent spyware infections. Is this a feasable idea or should I just dual boot?
I can't seem to get my adapter to work on my Debian Squeeze system. I have the wpc54g linksys notebook adapter and disk... but the disk will not autorun...I have gotten as far as to the adapter being activated, shows connection 97%, but I can't surf!
In my Windows environment, I use email client such as Microsoft Outlook to connect to our email server to send email with the following configuration:
Incoming server (POP3): 995 - (requires with SSL) Outgoing server (SMTP): 465 - (use encrypted connection SSL)
[code]....
And the mail server requires user ID login and password.how do I setup a text command based email client in my Linux (Centos 5.1) to send out email through the existing email server above, which is in another machine? The email client has to be text command based because I need to use command line to send notification email from anothar application installed in my Linux (Centos 5.1) Since the email client will only be used to send email notification, I don't require setting up of an email server in my linux.
Using CentOS. I have a cron setup to run this command: Code: /var/test.sh | mail -s "Test Cron" mr182@somewhere.com The email is sent but the output of the script is not in the email body, it's just blank. I know there is some output because there are some echo statements in the script.I don't want to get an email for all cronjobs, just this one.
I have an email setup where all of the emails from our email host is downloaded to our Linux server using Fetchmail. Then some of the incoming emails are sent to an MS exchange server (server1.domain.com) using Postfix. What i want to do is to send a copy of all emails to Another server (server2.domain.com) for redundancy. Can postfix be configured to send copies out to both?

I cant surf the web with any default browser in debian. i have a internet connection. i just cant surf so its got to be in the web browser settings? i looked, did not change anything, but do not see what could be causing this.
I'm in troubles with the OpenVPN, I've seen tons of tutorials on the Internet of how to setup it, but failed at last... If somebody could help me a little, I'll really appreciate that. The problem is, I can connect to VPN server, passed the authorization, but I can't surf the Internet through the OpenVPN server...
I have Huawei B970b (see specs). It a router with wireless and GSM capability. It works ok in XP. I can connect and ping its IP 192.168.1.1. In Ubuntu I can see the wireless SSID and could connect to the router but I can not surf the net nor I can ping 192.168.1.1.

It worked in 10.04 using ndiswrapper, but the connection was very weak (In Windows, it works perfectly). I blame ndiswrapper and the windows driver for the connection issues. In 10.10 x64, using ndiswrapper does not work. It says hardware present, but iwconfig shows no wlan0 adapter. I downloaded the driver from RealTek's website (rtl8192su) and compiled it. It gave a lot of warnings about integers being out of range, but I ignored them and went on anyway. If you want the exact warnings, I can put them on a pastebin and post the link tonight when I get home from work.
After doing a make install, I plugged in my adapter. As soon as it kicked on, the light on the adapter would blink and the screen would go black with a lone cursor in the top left corner of the screen. The drivers are obviously suspect, since I can make uninstall, plug in the adapter, and continue on with no network.Has anyone gotten this adapter/other adapters with the rtl8192su firmware working in 10.10 using a stock x64 install? It has to be stock or using packages available on the disk since without using the adapter, I have no internet.Maybe I'll try the drivers on 10.04 and see if they're just not compatible with 10.10.
As the thread title suggests i want to know how to surf anonymously as can be. Im thinking of using a vpn provider over the isp provider and while using a vpn connecting to the tor network using firefox.
A few days ago I decided to do a clean install of 11.04 (which I was running when I followed this thread [URL], which solved my problem of my wifi not being able to surf the web or download anything, even though it said i was connected). After the install i noticed that my wifi was acting up and I realized I had to install the realtek driver again, like I did the first time. I followed the thread I stated above again the exact same as I did the first time when it worked for me, now when I boot up I get stuck after the grub menu, it goes to a black screen and I cannot get off of it. I reinstalled ubuntu 11.04 and everything was fine, then I compiled the realtk driver again and the same thing happened. Kernel version 3.6.38-10 Generic (I think this has something to do with the black screen after the Grub menu).
I use Fedora 12 and I use Mobile Boradband to connect to the Internet on my laptop. I want to setup a wireless network using my laptop so that my roommate who uses Vista, can surf internet on his laptop. How can I do it?
I have two network cards in my computer (Debian). One (eth0) is connected to the router which is connected to the internet, the other one (eth1) is connected to my laptop (Gentoo). Now I want to surf the web both on my computer and on my laptop. I obeyed some tutorials "Linux as router":
2. Laptop has IP 192.168.0.2 and this is the output of 'cat /etc/network/interfaces' on my computer:
Code:
takada:/etc/network# cat interfaces # This file describes the network interfaces available on your system # and how to activate them. For more information, see interfaces(5). # The loopback network interface
But a ping from my laptop to 192.168.1.1 (router to internet) still gives:
You'll need to reply like I'm an absolute idiot. I cannot get the stupid thing to work. WINE won't install, and I'm really confused on how to make it work. If anyone could please give me a step-by-step, that would be great.
I am trying to use the HUAWEI E1756C USB stick to connect to the internet. Installing usb_modeswitch and usb_modeswitch-data allowed networkmanager to "recognize" the stick and set up a mobile broadband connection.
The result is that NM succeeded in connecting (one of every five attempts) but firefox does not surf, nor emails can be downloaded etc. Just like if not being connected. The USB modem shows the steady blue LED as connected.
A NM issue? I have tried disabling NM control and tried with PPP clients like NMTSMON, wvdial and even Sakis3g. All with the same results. They seem to connect and show flux up and downloaded but no surfing.
resolf.conf shows is pretty much empty and no DNS there.
The working settings in Window$ are:
Same settings with Sakis3G, or NMTSMON or NM result in connection with no action from applications that use the internet.
I have had a similar issue with WLAN each time I change to a different network. I solve that by forcing to update the DHCP. I mean using -su dhcpd wlan0
But attempts like dhcpcd ttyUSB0 or dhcpcd ttyS0 get the same result. So no idea if this is an DHCP, or DNS or another issue.
My box is an ASUS EEEPC 2005H netbook with OpenSuSE 11.2 and KDE
i have ubuntu 9.10 on a lenovo s10. i had my alfa awus036h and it worked fine no issues. except for having to reconnect every hour or so. anyway i got back track 4 final and installed it on usb with unetbootin. i started to use wicd and etter cap on it. and i made sure to turn off wicd when i was done then i went back into ubuntu (i didnt install bt) and i started to have problems like everyone else. slow connections ,disconnects after 1 min, and can still connect to networks but cant surf.
I can connect to my access point to surf internet. I setup my Dlink access point (password, network name, etc) in Vista by visiting "http://dlinkap/" in my web browser.
In ubuntu, I can connect and surf the web/internet but i cannot access the setup page.
When I try to type the "http://dlinkap/" to my browser then the browser will redirect it to google search.
I try 192.168.1.1, I can access my linksys router. but my dlink access point, i cannot access the setup page.
i have ubuntu 10.04 i believe and i cant connect to the intenret i guess its not detecting my wireless adapter. i cant try ethernet cord which prolly would work because i cant move pc to another room....is there any fix for this? i googled linux drivers but i cant find any...i do have the cd that came with the adapter.
I am attempting to install a small rpm that will give command line access to an integrated array controller on my system so that I can add more local disk. When attempting to apply the package I am receiving an error indicating that there is not enough space available on the filesystem. I have expanded the filesystem several times today in order to try and resolve this issue and also moved ~1.5G of files to another filesystem but I am still receiving the error.
Code:
[root@frenzy1a.mgmt.qa:~]# rpm -ivh /tmp/hpacucli-8.35-7.0.noarch.rpm Preparing... ########################################### [100%] installing package hpacucli-8.35-7.0.i386 needs 18MB on the /opt filesystem [root@frenzy1a.mgmt.qa:~]#

I have rebooted the server a couple of times and ran fsck as well.
was prompted to dl some updates after a fresh install but it was only partially successful, and whenrebooted, the screen froze with the mssge:Cannot open Konsolekit sessionPermission of the setup uid in not correct.
I'm attempting to send email with a PHP application I got from a textbook. Do I need to start an email server in order to get the application to work?Using SuSE 11.2
