General :: Send An Email Using Evolution On Trisquel?
May 24, 2011
I have installed Trisquel from a magazine DVD. It has trashed my windows despite me selecting the install along side windows option. So onwards and upwards with Linux.
I am trying to get Evolution mail working with limited success. I can receive email but cannot send it. The request to connect to the smtp server times out. SMTP details are below :-
server type : smtp

i ve talked to my isp provider and they made sure that all of the fields are set up correctly in evolution mail i can access internet through fire fox update manager works fine But there is a question reguarding my network settings i am useing a wired connection throught eth0 but my isp service provider needs a secured login and i cant insert a password or login in there respective places in the network setup
Evolution asks me for the default keyring everytime I try to access evolution or send a new email now it will not let me type anything into the password field!
My Evolution email client is able to send only smal messages. As soon as the email message is more than approx. 20 lines, sending is blocked. The status line displays "Sending message (0% complete)" for a few minutes and then it displays "Error while sending message." Receiving of email messages works fine.
I am running Ubuntu 8.04 and evolution as mail client this is the error i receive in evolution on send & recive.I can receive mail but not send.Error while performing operation.
Welcome response error: Operation now in progress.
for like two weeks I have been trying to send email using evolution for some reason I always get the same Code: Could not connect to smtp.gmail.com: Input/output error
In my Windows environment, I use email client such as Microsoft Outlook to connect to our email server to send email with the following configuration:
Incoming server (POP3): 995 - (requires with SSL) Outgoing server (SMTP): 465 - (use encrypted connection SSL)
[code]....
And the mail server requires user ID login and password.how do I setup a text command based email client in my Linux (Centos 5.1) to send out email through the existing email server above, which is in another machine? The email client has to be text command based because I need to use command line to send notification email from anothar application installed in my Linux (Centos 5.1) Since the email client will only be used to send email notification, I don't require setting up of an email server in my linux.

Debian 5, apache 2.2 I've got Apache up and hosting multiple sites. Each site will have a php contact me page that will simply dump an email to a fixed address. What program should i be using to accomplish this? I've used nullmailer before but that assumes you have a fixed smarthost somewhere which I don't.
I had configured the evolution to send/recive email. After it had been configured, it could receive emails. Suddendly it can't fetch email anymore. In the inbox of evolution, there were about 200 emails. There are maybe 5K emails in the server, I guessed. I'm not sure whether it's the problem that there's one email in the server too big, so the evolution can not fetch it. The error of evolution is: error while fetching email. Evolution version: Evolution 2.28.0. OS version: Linux xxx2.6.32.9-70.fc12.i686.PAE #1 SMP Wed Mar 3 04:57:21 UTC 2010 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux I'm sure my network is fine, I use pop3 to receive email.
nslookup result: $ nslookup pop3.163.com Server:221.6.96.178 Address:221.6.96.178#53 Non-authoritative answer: pop3.163.comcanonical name = pop.163.com. pop.163.comcanonical name = pop3.163.idns.yeah.net. Name:pop3.163.idns.yeah.net Address: 123.125.50.29
I use 'quoted' style for reply emails. I want to be able to intersperse my replies within a quoted reply i.e. if the email had three paragraphs, I'd like to be able to have my replies between each of the paragraphs. At the moment, I don't seem to be able to do anything other than delete from the quoted section - I try to simulate my requirements by cutting and then 'paste quotation', but this doesn't always work as sometimes Evolution adds too many levels of '> ' .
I'm attempting to send email used a textbook PHP application. The application fails to send an email.Do I need to setup an email server to get the ap to work?Right now, I'm getting email through Kontact via my web host, Yahoo mail and Google mail.

Also the /var/log/maillog is empty.I can see the queued email with:sendmail -bpSo emails never go out. This PC is connected to a network which the gateway is another Linux machine which is configured to be the default gateway in my /etc/resolv.conf as nameserver.
I use gmail for all of my emailing needs but stumbled upon linux counter at counter.li.org. Now I registered on the site and downloaded the machine-update script from the site. So I ran it and it collected the required data. But when I run ./machine-update -m as they have told, I guess no mail gets sent as I have to configure the mail program. How do I configure it so that it sends mail from my gmail address using stmp?
how to configure linux for email to send andplz alos guide me what will be the command for sending? am using oracle linux version 5.5.19 enterprise edition.
Currently i'm figuring out how to send email notifications to users when services went down in Nagios. I know i need to install and configure Postfix, which i did already. I assume that when i configured to point it to "Satellite mail system" is the correct one instead of other things like "Internet.." etc. So the configurations is when you have installed the Postfix and there would pop a lot of questions right? Other than that, what have i missed?
Oh ya, i remember something. Hmm. I do not have any so-called real smtp server so would that be alright? I heard that installed and getting the Postfix running would be enough as it serves as a MTA (mail transfer agent). So if i do not have any smtp server, the relay host= ' ' what should i put it as?
I am running Linux mint 9 Isadora and do not like thunderbird email client. I have downloaded Evolution and can't get it to run. I opened it with archive manager and see many files, but it does not run.

I just started using ubuntu karmic on an ibm x60 with comcast. I tried setting up evolution with a mobile me imap account and can receive mail no problem but cannot send mail. Any suggestions or remedies?
I keep getting emails from my 404 error handling system on my CMS saying "mail3.xps.idv.tw:25 cannot be found" with no referer. It would appear that someone is trying to use my server to relay spam to Taiwan. How do I check that my server has the right security to stop this happening?
I'm trying to learn how to send my self an email reminder using crontab, this is what I tried but I'm not getting the email.# m h dom mon dow command 33 13 * * 3 mail -s "This is a test" joedwalker.email@gmail.com < /home/joe/email.
I'm looking for an easy way to send basic emails for the command line. I have tried configuring sendmail and mailx, but I have yet been able to receive a test email at my remote address. I have read through a fair amount of "how to" on this but I am a little confused and obviously not doing something right. My sendmail.mc file is as follows
We recently upgraded to Microsoft Exchange 8.2.176.0 for our web mail. I've never had it setup for my desktop, I've always had to rely on a browser and access webmail. I'm trying to set it up on my Thunderbird 3 on Debian but it doesn't seem intuitive. I've also tried various ways in Evolution.
I'm trying to effectively use EVOLUTION for email but am finding it frustrating. I created a folder to house a specific group of messages. For each message, I went to the "Message" tab and clicked on "move to folder." The folder heading on the top left indicates that there are 30 messages in that folder, BUT NO MESSAGES ARE APPEARING.
When I started I took the defaults and ended up with Evolution.
I have never managed to get it set up to send. It and godaddy are on diffferent planets.
Having used Thunderbird in the past, I downloaded it and it automagically set itself up to send and receive.
So now I use Thunderbird - BUT - when I click on a link in an html page - the mailto macro sends me to something other than THunderbird - perhaps Evolution - and nothing gets sent.
So how do I tell the system that when i click a mailto in firefox I want Thunderbird?
PS I think I found it. In firefox - edit - preferences - applications tab - mmailto - it said Evolution. I changed it so say /usr/bin/thunderbird - will now test it.
YES - Seems that asking a question triggers my brain on how to resolve it. Sorry to waste your time.
I am able to reieve message but not able to send message on evolution from my mail client. evolution gives the error as: PHP Code: Cannot get message 1285571362.20345.mail312.opentransfer.com,S=1928: Input/output error
