May 10, 2010So I've tried finding a solution to this on my own for the past few days (believing it is a simple solution), but for the life of me I can't figure it out. I'm running 11.2 and I have Evolution as a start-up program and I have finally got my wireless working, so it connects automatically at start-up also. I figured out how to have network manager automatically unlock the default keyring, but...
Each time evolution starts up I am prompted to unlock the default keyring. How can I give Evolution permission / access to the default keyring automatically so it can check me email upon start-up without me having to type in my password?

I want to be able to intersperse my replies within a quoted reply i.e. if the email had three paragraphs, I'd like to be able to have my replies between each of the paragraphs. At the moment, I don't seem to be able to do anything other than delete from the quoted section - I try to simulate my requirements by cutting and then 'paste quotation', but this doesn't always work as sometimes Evolution adds too many levels of '> ' .

Apr 5, 2010I had configured the evolution to send/recive email. After it had been configured, it could receive emails. Suddendly it can't fetch email anymore. In the inbox of evolution, there were about 200 emails. There are maybe 5K emails in the server, I guessed. I'm not sure whether it's the problem that there's one email in the server too big, so the evolution can not fetch it. The error of evolution is: error while fetching email. Evolution version: Evolution 2.28.0. OS version: Linux xxx2.6.32.9-70.fc12.i686.PAE #1 SMP Wed Mar 3 04:57:21 UTC 2010 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux I'm sure my network is fine, I use pop3 to receive email.

Mar 12, 2011i ve talked to my isp provider and they made sure that all of the fields are set up correctly in evolution mail i can access internet through fire fox update manager works fine But there is a question reguarding my network settings i am useing a wired connection throught eth0 but my isp service provider needs a secured login and i cant insert a password or login in there respective places in the network setup

General :: Evolution Email -- Can't See The Messages That Are Supposedly In A Folder?
Mar 30, 2011I'm trying to effectively use EVOLUTION for email but am finding it frustrating. I created a folder to house a specific group of messages. For each message, I went to the "Message" tab and clicked on "move to folder." The folder heading on the top left indicates that there are 30 messages in that folder, BUT NO MESSAGES ARE APPEARING.

When I started I took the defaults and ended up with Evolution.
I have never managed to get it set up to send. It and godaddy are on diffferent planets.
Having used Thunderbird in the past, I downloaded it and it automagically set itself up to send and receive.
So now I use Thunderbird - BUT - when I click on a link in an html page - the mailto macro sends me to something other than THunderbird - perhaps Evolution - and nothing gets sent.
So how do I tell the system that when i click a mailto in firefox I want Thunderbird?
PS I think I found it. In firefox - edit - preferences - applications tab - mmailto - it said Evolution. I changed it so say /usr/bin/thunderbird - will now test it.
YES - Seems that asking a question triggers my brain on how to resolve it. Sorry to waste your time.
Ubuntu :: Evolution Not Prompting For Password (keyring)
May 1, 2010I have installed Ubuntu three times now, and I'm running into same problem all the time, both with Karmic Koala (9.10) and now also Lucid Lynx (10.04):
When I configure Evolution for IMAP access to my GMAIL account, it never prompts me for a password. Instead, I guess Evolution tries to connect without any password and fails every time. Switching to Thunderbird didn't do the trick either, so I think it might have something to do with the Keyring daemon. My Internet connection is fine, as I can access my account under other operating systems.
Things I've tried so far:
"Forget passwords" in the evolution menu
Forcing shutdown of evolution and deleting the ~/.evolution folder (as suggested by https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=221112)
Accessing the keyring and deleting the default keyring

Ubuntu :: Evolution Asks For Old Password - Login Keyring?
May 2, 2010I found much of the info is out of date. I installed Lucid - my /home was on a separate partition so I did not format it to keep the original settings and mail. When trying to send/receive mail, Evolution now asks for the old login password from the previous install to open the mail keyring. "The password you use to login no longer matches that of your login keyring" There is a box to enter the old PW.
SOLUTION:
-Go to Applications-Accessories-Passwords and Encryption Keys
-Right click on Passwords:login
-Select Change Password
-Type your old login password in the "Old Password" field
-Type your new password in both the Password: and Confirm: fields.
-Click OK
-REBOOT
Evolution will now use your new login password to access the keyring.

Dec 13, 2010I had to reload from 10.4 to 10.10. On 10.4 I had no problems with the email. Now with 10.10 I cannot get it set up. I use att/yahoo and I set up my pop 3 and stmp setting correct. It will save them but I cannot secure the one with ssh and there is no where in the wizard to store you password. In turn i cannot get my email thru evolution. And the send/recieve button is not highlighted at all. I dumped evolution and then reloaded it but still have the same issue.

Jun 18, 2010I get a lot of email from different yahoogroups, but am having a bit of trouble in one group.
Every so often I'll get a message that is written in rich text and sent from the group's web post feature, but only half of it is displayed. If I check the message source the entire message is there, and if I change Evolutions settings to plain instead of HTML then the entire message is there.
The weird thing is it only seems to be the messages from one particular poster that is being cut off.
It'd be nice if I could stick with HTML and Evolution.

2 Gmail accounts - my main one and a more formal one for job searches and resume stuff.
1 Yahoo account for everything else so most spam will go there.
1 University account that I have to use while taking a masters degree program
1 AOL account - a holdout from a long time ago that I hardly ever check.
What would be my reason for using a computer based email system like Evolution or Thunderbird? Could I combine all this accounts to one place? Would I want to? I don't have a job right now so I don't have a work email. I thought it would me nice if I could somehow go to one place to see all these email accounts. I will check it out on my own but I thought I would ask the forum for some wisdom.

Feb 19, 2010Basically, I think my Internet crashed while sending an email via Evolution and now whenever I open Evolution, or try and receive any new email it just sits there sending this email - it reaches 100% so I can only assume it has actually sent the email.
There's a button to "Cancel the current mail operation" though it doesn't appear to be doing anything; the email is still being "sent" each time.
This would be pretty tedious for the guy I sent the email to.
Has anyone had similar issues and knows of a fix?

When she sends mail, a copy was going to the old Sent folder for her old account. Fine. So I tried Edit->Preferences->Mail Accounts->Edit->Defaults and pointed the sent mail to the Sent folder in the new account.Now she sends a mail and there is no copy going anywhere! It is not being saved in the old Sent folder or the new.Compaq Presario 610, Maverick 10.04.

Mar 2, 2011I've got a problem with my evolution here at work, which is running on a vanilla Ubuntu 10.10 install. Yesterday we received an email from a supplier with some tiff attachments. When this email is clicked on it freezes Evolution. The further problem is that I can't even browse into the inbox folder where it is since that email is the last thing that was highlighted. What is the best method for removing a single email from the Inbox? I thought about into the .evolution/mail folder, but I wasn't sure which files to modify to solve the problem.
