some times network disconnected automatically. if we restart rhe server it automatically starts to work. again 2 or 3 days, the same senario is happening. on this server 2 database is running, it makes lot of problem to us. what will be the problem? is any connection parameter is there? (ie i mean only 50 numbers of client connection is only allowed like.) or any problem in NIC card or NIC driver.

I have just finished the upgrade of the latest version and I'm at the point of my system restating.
My system automatically tried to restart but on the restart I got the 'terminal' view. It stopped when asking for my username (it never normally asks for this before the grub menu) and then password. I didn't get any further than that.
I now have on my screen (still in the terminal view before the grub menu)

Then I ran apt-get updates and upgrades after squeeze became stable. A few packages were kept back. So I did aptitude dist-upgradeIt installed some things and maybe removed some things. I just reinstalled Ubuntu alongside windows for a dual install. The installation went ok but when Ubuntu said it needed to restart to complete, now my pc just loads windows 7 everytime. It doesnt give me an option of choosing Ubuntu. I know the install worked because when I look at my drive in windows it is the partitioned size. Any way to manually launch Ubuntu?

Each time I boot, I have to grant root privileges and type in a shell: iwconfig wlan0 essid linksys key dhclient wlan0 Isn't there a file(or location) that I can modify to automatically grant root privileges and execute these commands when debian starts? This is a remote access program, so it has to be relaunched without me doing anything to help it along if it crashes or I accidentally close it. I have noticed that after few days of ideal system it will stop its network interface. To resolve this I have to login to the machine it self and then issue
# service network start
Is this a feature. If this is not a feature then what is this. As an workaround I am thinking of adding service network restart in cron tab for everyday in night when I am not using it.
I am using centos 5.5 x85_64 2.6.18-194.3.1.el5 The server is hanging at start up due to the follwoing error
udevd[746] nss_ldap reconnecting to LDAP server (sleeping 4 seconds)
udevd[746] failed to bind to LDAP ser er ldap://192.168.0.100 cant contact ldap
It fails and then tries again, and again, each time increasing the sleep time. This is happening before network sercvices are started so ther is no way it can connect to ldap. anyone know a way to fix this problem?

Instantly title says root@localhost before settling with user@localhost with current directory as ~/Downloads. Only happens with my particular user account (normal user), not with root as I tried. The company I work for has a Dell Poweredge 6850 that keeps pretty much everything (databases, websites, etc).
The server had a Virtual Drive created from 2 Physical Drives. Since the HDD space was getting low, we got a new drive, inserted it, formatted and rebooted the system.
But the system now refuses to start, giving an FAILED message, something related to EXT2 partition that cannot be read at /dev/hda1.

When i do [url] i get a blank page.
When i set skype to load on start up my webcam will not work. However if I manually start it after booting up the system it works fine. I am not using ciaro dock but am using docky. My webcam is a Logitech. This can be anoying as I would sometimes forget to turn Skype on manually.
