View 1 Repliessome times network disconnected automatically. if we restart rhe server it automatically starts to work. again 2 or 3 days, the same senario is happening. on this server 2 database is running, it makes lot of problem to us. what will be the problem? is any connection parameter is there? (ie i mean only 50 numbers of client connection is only allowed like.) or any problem in NIC card or NIC driver.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have just finished the upgrade of the latest version and I'm at the point of my system restating.
My system automatically tried to restart but on the restart I got the 'terminal' view. It stopped when asking for my username (it never normally asks for this before the grub menu) and then password. I didn't get any further than that.
I now have on my screen (still in the terminal view before the grub menu)
"name@name-desktop:...$ "
I'm on my phone now so I don't actually have the symbol for before the dollar sign but your know what it is. The raised S on a 90 degree angle.
I've started facing the weirdest problem. I have to restart the ethernet interface a couple of times a day and everytime i do that the server locks up completely and i have to hard reboot it.info: recently shifted to a new server, all new components and new installation, OS version CentOS 5.6

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am having some problems after installing apache2-mpm-itk on my Debian 5.4 server. From my understanding apache2-mpm-itk will run child processes as root until a http request is received. It then suid's to the username in the VirtualHost directive. This is all working fine, as I can see a few apache processes started by a specific user.
However, the problem is when I try to restart apache. It will kill all the processes running by root but wont kill any of the processes that have been suid'ed to another username.
When i attempt to restart I get this error:
Code:
charged:/etc/apache2# /etc/init.d/apache2 restart
Restarting web server: apache2 ... waiting (98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address [::]:80
(98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:80
[Code]....
If I do a "ps aux | grep apache" before and after I see all the root processes killed, but processes running as specified users from VritualHost directive remaining.
Now I am not an extreme linux power user, but I know a bit.
I wanted to ask how to restart the Debian Server. It should start daily, at 2-3 o'clock in the morning. Don't know how to program the server.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAt first I thought that the following command will restart my sshd server:
/etc/init.d/sshd restart
but there is no "sshd" server in this directory.
How else do I (re)start the ssh server? How can I get the version/release number of the sshd server? Where (in which directory) should I put SSH keys?

The company I work for has a Dell Poweredge 6850 that keeps pretty much everything (databases, websites, etc).
The server had a Virtual Drive created from 2 Physical Drives. Since the HDD space was getting low, we got a new drive, inserted it, formatted and rebooted the system.
But the system now refuses to start, giving an FAILED message, something related to EXT2 partition that cannot be read at /dev/hda1.

I have been using Fedora since almost 1 week by now, and I'm really impressed by its features but there is one very small problem that I face everyday. At the first place, I had setup a profile settings for Network so all my static IP, Hosts, DNS servers were all configured in that profile. Now I had filled in something in the Primary DNS Server and then I had saved it. The internet works after that but when I reboot, that Primary DNS server gets deleted. I have to type it all the time and then click on save and then start using the internet again.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a problem with samba machine disappearing after I restart smb or the server where samba is running. Lets say I name my samba server ABC and set it up via system-config-samba utils. I follow basic steps and fill out everything according to most guides that are available for fedora. After that everything works great, I can connect to samba server ABC form any machine through smb://ABC (mac) or \ABC (win), however as soon as I restart smb services or my server (subsequently restarting the smb service ...) I no longer can connect to it via samba server name ABC, I can only do smb://SambaServerIP or \SambaServerIP (have to put numerical internal ip to connect)
My smb.conf:
# cat /etc/samba/smb.conf

My Ubuntu 9.10 works well with the network through samba, but only if I first run -
sudo service samba restart
Then all is fine. I don't understand this. How can I avoid having to do this? Or alternatively where can I best put this command so that it will be run on boot-up.
I thought I would play around with php for a while and so set forth to configure apache. Whilst I was reading a website for installing LAMP stuff on ubuntu I thought I would give it a go. I installed a LAMP server with:
sudo tasksel install lamp-server
and lo and behold it crashed my operating system upon restart. So both my laptop and desktop were toast.
Everything is reinstalled now so is fine and I have installed apache2 and php5 from separate packages. The one thing that's troubling me is why it crashed. It seemed to uninstall vlc media player, m-player and gnome-player as well as removing the "switch accounts" button on the lock screen. Does anyone know 1) why it died and/or 2) why it chose to eliminate those programs specifically.
I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 on a home network (without internet access)Occasionally I need to restart the print server. Code: xterm -e 'sudo /etc/init.d/samba restart' each time it asks for the password but because this is a closed network, I'd like to dispense with it asking for the user password each time
View 3 Replies View RelatedI made a software RAID 0. It works fine, but when I add it to fstab and reboot the server, I can't restart the server.
Code:
# cat /etc/fstab
LABEL=/ / ext3 defaults 1 1
LABEL=/boot /boot ext3 defaults 1 2
tmpfs /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0
devpts /dev/pts devpts gid=5,mode=620 0 0
sysfs /sys sysfs defaults 0 0
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0

/dev/md0 /vz ext3 defaults 0 0
When I go to rescue mode and delete /dev/md0 from fstab, I can restart, but I get this when I try to mount it again:
Code:
mount: you must specify the filesystem type
So I try to make it to a ext3
Code:
# mkfs.ext3 /dev/md0
mke2fs 1.39 (29-May-2006)
mkfs.ext3: Device size reported to be zero. Invalid partition specified, or partition table wasn't reread after running fdisk, due to a modified partition being busy and in use. You may need to reboot to re-read your partition table.

I'm trying to get a program to automatically reload if I accidentally close it. This is a remote access program, so it has to be relaunched without me doing anything to help it along if it crashes or I accidentally close it. I noticed that someone came up with a way to solve this back in 2007 [URL].. but the files don't appear to exist any more for it to work. how I might get a program to automatically reload on exit?
