General :: Option For Unzipping Graphically?

i have downloaded the software bluez-4.81.tar.gz from internet and saved iy on desk top.in command line i typed like following.
george@george-desktop ~ $ tar xvzf file:///home/george/Desktop/bluez-4.81.tar.gz
but i have got result like this...
rsh: Could not resolve hostname file: Name or service not known
tar: file:///home/george/Desktop/bluez-4.81.tar.gz: Cannot open: Input/output error

there is a option for unzipping graphically.so i right cliccked using mouse and extracted.then a folder named "bluez-4.81" appeared on desk top. Now what are the steps to install this bluetooth software?

I am in the process of moving from a windows to a linux box. I zipped a folder of images on the windows box and ftpd it to the linux box. When I try to unzip the file I get:

I am having a problem unzipping multiple files at 1 time.
Proper unzip command that will:
1) extract the file from the zip.
2) remove the zip file.
All my zip files start with SB and end with .emi.zip

when I write system("unzip -jo /storage/conf.zip") but folder will not be unzipped. Same will be successful if tried on command line.

I want to extract a huge .tar.gz file but when I do extract it stalls the server. The server is write heavy and extracting seems to choke the disk. Is there a nice way to extract without stopping the world? I've tried the 'nice' and 'cpulimit' command but they don't seem to do the trick.

I know that you can do this with Open Text Exceed, but it's been years since I've done this and the last time I did it was on version 9. Unfortunately I only have a license for version 14 now and have no idea how to do this. how I can use Exceed to connect to my linux server?

I have been looking for this, but so far I have not found it.Also, important: that it is auto updated. I made an 8GB password protected Zip file on Ubuntu 10.10, sent it to a friend who's using Windows 7, and now she can't unzip it. The file transfer speeds between us are very slow, so I don't want to resend it. Every application she's tried (WinRAR, WinZip, and 7Zip) fails and gives some sort of "invalid archive format" error.
I had her do an MD5 checksum on the file and it matches mine. So, the likelihood of it being damaged during transmission is very small. I also successfully unzipped it on my end and used TeamViewer to try and get it unzipped on her end, just to make sure she wasn't doing anything wrong, she wasn't.
What could be the problem be UbuntuForums? Is there a difference in the way Windows and Linux handles zip files that is causing this problem?

Using suse 11.3 and kde 4.5 after an updating happen that runlevel 5 is skipped and suse dont start x I think is a kdm problem, becouse if I change kdm in gdm in /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager it starts and show me the login window, (but system don't work well)
If I do startx this is the error:

I need to say that this is not my computer, so I don't know all of the details, but I know all it is really used for is Internet and reading .pdfs, and the main user is not an advanced user at all, so he wouldn't have messed with anything important. The picture pretty much says it all. It does not look like this at startup. This computer is set up to go to sleep after 15 minutes, and sleeping is how it spends most of its time. I don't know if sleep is what causes the problem or not. It just does it randomly after some time. The only way to fix it is to restart the computer.

I'm using Fedora 15. For some reason, my computer is booting up graphically. I do not have video drivers for a graphical setup apparently now that Gnome is getting more advanced, so I really need to restore to a CLI. I see /etc/inittab is now deprecated thanks to systemd. The instructions say the following:

# systemd uses 'targets' instead of runlevels. By default, there are two main targets:
# multi-user.target: analogous to runlevel 3
# graphical.target: analogous to runlevel 5
To set a default target, run:
# ln -s /lib/systemd/system/<target name>.target /etc/systemd/system/default.target
And that's exactly what I have set up!

There is a test/development environment here at work with some windows and some CentOS systems connecting over a network share to a CentOS fileserver in the data center. The developers run as root (i know i know, but the environment is completely cut off from the rest of the company and this just worked best) and connect to the fileserver using samba. I tried using nfs but to no avail. Now, a couple of the developers have no issues with permissions at all but a couple of them are not able to delete files or folders in their network share graphically. They can through terminal though.

i've tried both the gnome and kde installers and initially it boots fine to the first menu, but if i then select 'installation' or even try to boot to the live cd, the screen goes blank and then reappears as something that looks like the static on your television if you're trying to tune it in. if you let it continue to boot, then it goes blank again and comes back with a different corrupted screen, but this time you have a white block in the middle that is apparently the mouse point as i can then move it around.
i've tried it in VESA mode and even text mode and the same thing happens. the installation media checks out fine, and my graphics card is brand new - a Radeon 3650 HD. I might try an older version of suse and try and upgrade from there

I'm running into this issue after installing Fedora Core 11 off DVD. Anaconda install the first part of the installation, then after reboot it goes into run level 3 (I think, where you have to login as root) I noticed that it said xserver failed to load before it actually boots Anaconda.
Maybe I should pull a graphic's card? I have logged in as root after the base install and did a lspci, and you can see the two Nvidia Quadro FX1700's and you can tell it is an intel board with the Intel Corp 6311ESB/6321ESB PCI Express ports. Also you can navigate through the linux directories via ls \. I tried YUM to find/install the graphics drivers but it says something about metadata not being configured. I checked the IP address with ifconfig and had to manually assign an ip.

when I go to download 11.3 I am presented with the installation medium for a DVD installation with a button that says download DVD. Should there be an option to download an ISO option for a CD installation on this page along with the DVD version? Some of our older machines can only read CD's with a max size of 500+ megs.

I installed Maverick with auto login. One could undo this by reinstalling I suppose, but is there an easier way to get back to the standard form of login?Hopefully that will cause my default key ring to unlock correctly.

We do use kickstart configuration file to customize the CentOS installation. In the partitioning screen, I do see a check box for encryption (encrypting the disk blocks).

I was just using the mic and watched it stop working suddenly. I was in the middle of a skype test call when the graphical mixer level died down to zero in the middle of the call. When the test call was played back, the first part sounded fine then the sound got lower until it became inaudible. Since then I can't get any sound from my mic in skype.
Also, the audio input level graphically shown in Sound Preferences shows no fluctuations in sound as it used to before. The input device is enabled. I tried using Sound Recorder to record some sound clips and that worked fine. So the mic is working but Sound Preferences and Skype seem to have the mic level really low. I'm not sure what else to think considering it was working perfectly a few minutes ago. I've tried restarting, but that didn't fix it either.
