View 1 RepliesI do not have the hardware to do this yet. I simply want advice on what route to take before I make the investment. If I had the money I would simply invest in a wireless combo setup, but I unfortunately do not. I do however have an idea. I am currently stuck with a standalone system that is running XP strictly for the use of magicjack. I was thinking I could hook up this combo machine to that computer and network it in via that. However, would the scanning capability only reside in the hardwired computer or could I do a network scan somehow?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have just installed 11.3 x64. The installation went fine and worked for the first few hours. I ran the online update tool, and now it cannot find grub unless the installation disc is inserted and I select the "boot from hard disc" option.
I have read about the problem of the root partition being back, but not sure that's it.
sda1 - swap
sda2 - /
sda3 - /home
There used to be a repair tool in the installation disks. I could not find that in this media. Is that still available?
I'm trying to install files and everytime I manage to install from the first disc I succeed. When I get the the second disc I just keep clicking the "OK" button instead of "Cancel" and it keeps neglecting it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just received a Canon Pixma MX320 as a gift.
I am currently running the Ubuntu 10.04 OS
I was able to get the printer up and running by downloading the printer driver for debian linux (3.1) from the Canon site without any problems.
Unfortunately I am not having the same luck with the scanner.
I tried downloading ScanGear MP for Linux (deb) (1.3) from the same Canon site but have not yet been able to get the XSane Image Scanner to recognize this scanner driver for my Canon.
I installed Fedora 13 64 bit yesterday and so far so good. Except that it recognized my hp2100 printer scanner but it didn't work until I set up CUPS. I installed HPLIP and it doesn't see the printer even though it works. Now I would like to get the scanner to work, but simple scan doesn't see it. How do I get it to work?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Just got Fedora up and working and trying to setup my Epson V33 Scanner, I have downloaded the Driver packages from Avasys (http://avasys.jp/eng/linux_driver/) But when I try to install the iscan rpm package it tells me that I need libltdl.so.3, after doing some googling I have managed to find this rpm for Mandriva but I am unsure if installing this on Fedora would cause any problems?[URL].. When I looked on the Avasys site this is available as an rpm (or to be exact libltdl.so.7!)
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have Fedora 12 installed on my computer and I'm trying to set up a printer and a scanner for my personal use. The printer is a Canon LBP 3200 and the scanner a Mustek 1200 UB Plus. Both are connected via USB.For the printer i managed to install a driver, but it will still not print. It only ejects blank pages. For the scanner i tried sane, but to no avail.

I use 9.10 on a Lenovo t410 and have installed a Brother MFC 495CW. I've been able to get the wireless printer operational, but have only been able to get the scanner operational via a USB cable. I've tried the instructions on the Brother Linux page but to no avail.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI know my question is quite essential and some how very abc but i really need your help. I'm just a newbie for Linux.
My problem are:
Hardware: Laptop 6735b from HP
Source of problem: ATI graphic driver not installed
Problem:
1. Freeze Operating system when power unplug (in Gnome)
2. Can not start any Operating system with full or just part of KDE (Kubuntu, Linux mint). Thus i have to stuck with pure Gnome like Ubuntu. ==> install Ubuntu ==> install ATI graphic driver ==> install KDE ==> swap to Kubuntu in Ubuntu.
I tried a lot of OS and none will work. I think the only way for me is create a install version of Kubuntu with ATI driver already build in so at least i can start my OS.Thus could somebody feel free guide me in step by step to build a install disc for Kubuntu. All i need is add up in setup process ATI driver install.
I have installed and un-installed 3 different versions of Ubuntu. My fourth is a re-install of v9.10. During all these installs I have had difficulty getting my wifi to work. During my last install I left the ISO in the drive by mistake so when the system rebooted it loaded from the disc in demo.... This was interesting because in the demo the program manager showed 2 drives for wireless, 1 Broadcom STA and 2 Broadcom b43xx. I tried loading the STA and it worked! (sorry it could have been the b43xx, for the time being it's insignificant) Upon my excitement I restarted the computer and removed the disk went to my Ubuntu set up and ...what the Broadcom choices weren't there Why?
Now I am running Win 7 Home 32bit on my main drive and have Ubuntu loaded on its own drive. I have a Netgear WN311b wireless N card installed. Again my confusion is why it worked in demo (off the cd) but doesn't from full install. I read on the web to try inserting my supplied disc from Netgear and then search program manager. It now showed the two for-mentioned Broadcom programs, but this time wouldn't install them. On the b43 I got an error message and on the STA it searched extracting and loading this continued for a 1/2 hour with no progression. I couldn't close the PM or the extracting and loading box, so I had to restart the computer.
if i download 3 disc from here [URL] will i be able to sucessfuly boot and install centos?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was able to get my Epson Stylus NX510 printer up and running (after much issue), but I can't get the scanner working. I'm on a laptop, and the printer/scanner is wifi enabled and broadcasts with its own IP address. I can print with no problem, but xsane and simple scan don't recognize the scanner. I'm all new to Ubuntu, and i thought it was easy and terminal is a totally new thing to me.
Is there a workaround to get this scanner to work through graphical interface install, or is terminal wisdom needed...
After downloading and installing iscan and run it i see this message:
Could not send command to scanner. Check scanner's status.
After command sane-find-scanner:
And this message is result of scanimage command:
No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different, check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages).
Recently got a Canon Canoscan 8800F after looking it up on the SANE site and said it was completely supported for Linux.
I have downloaded the pixma drivers and have compiled the command line program, but it can't find the scanner.

I've installed XSane Image Scanner. When I first opened it, it searched for my scanner and didn't give any error messages, and it had my scanner model in the heading of the scan window. But when I hit the scan button, it gave me saying, "Failed to start scanner: error during device I/O.I closed everything, and opened XSane again. This time it said there was no scanner available. The scanner is plugged into the USB port and uses that for both power and data. It's a Canoscan Model N650U.

Seriously, wtf is going on? This is supposed to be Ubuntu's default CD authoring software.
I'm sorry for this stupid question, but I have nowhere found it.I need to access to my USB disc from text mode (In Fedora LiveCD I see it and i can access /media/New Volume). In F12 runlevel 3 in mc I see it in /dev/disc/by-label as @Newx20Volume. But I don't know what is the correct path.

I have been running ONLY linux (ubuntu) on my computer for years now. However, a friend sucked me back into the world of MMO's (angry fist @ RIFT). So, I decided to pick up a new disc, slap windows 7 on it and now want to dual boot.Basically I had to do some disc juggling to get windows to play nice. So my windows drive is now first, then my Ubuntu drive second. Its been a while so I'm wondering how involved / what would be the steps to get grub2 to chainload into windows7 (in my head I want to say I'm going to boot into the live cd, mount the windows disc and reinstall the loader to the windows drive since its the first disc in the chain?)
