View 5 Replies View Relatedi have the following challenge: i have a Bluetooth GPS device that i have connected to my linux notebook. but now i also want to use the same device (or better, GPS data stream) for my Navigation device (HP Ipaq with TomTom). make an serial port bluetooth service (sending) that my Navigation device can connect to. copy the incoming bluetooth serial port data stream to the outgoing bluetooth serial port.
i have already installed GPSD so i have the TCP port where the GPS data is available for everything on my notebook. but now i also want it to send it out through bluetooth.
1. is there someone out there who already did this?
2. how to make an bluetooth serial port service on Fedora 12?
3. how to copy a data stream from 1 device to the next device?
I am very new to linux and I have been given a school project that involves getting my windows pc talking to a linux single board computer that I have. It can be found here. [URL]. I have two bluetooth usb dongles, one to plug into my pc and one to plug into my linux board, I know that both work as I have tried talking to them both using my mobile/cell phone. Also when I plug the dongle into my linux board it recognizes something has been plugged in. However I am unsure where to go from here. I have tried "searching" for the device using my windows pc, but it will only find my cell phone and not my linux board. I also tried mounting it similar to how i would mount a usb drive e.g. mount dev/sda etc. How to setup the linux board for bluetooth communications?

View 5 Replies View RelatedMy bluetooth devices disconnect after a period of inactivity (not sure exactly how long). They're being connected with:
sudo hidd --connect
And I've made no edits to any bluetooth related system files so it should be default settings throughout. I would like them to stay connected indefinitely and it would be even better if they would stay connected through reboots.
I bought this bt dongle, and when i plug it, the operating system detects it and everything seems to be working fine. Although, When I search for devices, neither my phone nor my laptop are found. Searching for devices on both of them doesnt find this computer either. lsusb output is : Bus 002 Device 006: ID 0a12:0001 Cambridge Silicon Radio, Ltd Bluetooth Dongle (HCI mode)

I have bluetoothd, hidd, and bluez-simple-agent running. I can manually connect my if I use
Code:
"hidd --connect XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX"
However, I cannot get bluetoothd to make any sort of connection automatically. I have hidd running as a server, I see link_key_request(sba=XXXXX,dba=XXXXX) in dmesg when I click the mouse, but I get no connection.
I am using Ubuntu, now installed KDE (kubuntu) and I have Bluetooth working and enabled but for some strange reason the bluetooth scan is not finding any devices in spite of the fact that I have my mobile phone with bluetooth on and discoverable. pairing bluetooth devices on Centos? I'm trying to pair a phone (Nokia 6086) with a bluetooth dongle. I've been able to do it on Ubuntu (using the bluetooth applet), but so far no luck connecting it to a Centos machine. Steps I have taken so far:

I've followed the guide at URL.... but my computer is unable to find any Bluetooth devices. Whether I'm using the command line or gnome-bluetooth, I don't get any results. If I plug in a cheap USB adapter, I'm able to connect and use the devices. My computer is a HP ProBook 4330s running Debian Jessie. And as far as I can tell the Bluetooth adapter is a Ralink rt3592 combination Wi-Fi and Bluetooth PCI card. The Wi-Fi works fine, but when i try to connect to a Bluetooth device, I get no search results.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a broadcom wireless card in my laptop and as far as I know, it acts as an USB device. I also have one USB stick wireless device (TL-WN422G - uses ath9k_htc driver) which I want to use at the same time as the first (Broadcom) device.
The problem is, after I load ath9k_htc - iwconfig does not show the new USB device (the TL-WN422G - wlan1 / ath0 / whatever), but only the old one (wlan0 - Broadcom, checked by MAC).
I tried this USB device (TL-WN422G) on my other computer that has PCI wireless card in it, and they both worked just fine together after I pluged it in... I get wlan0 (Ralink) and wlan1 (TL-WN422G). Is it some kind of a problem for the laptop that both devices are recognized as USB? How do I make wlan1 appear on my laptop?
also, my system is fully up to date 2.6.35 kernel (Arch)
edit: I've already downloaded the needed ar9271.fw from linuxwireless.org and I put it into /lib/firmware - something wrong in that?

Last year before buying a new phone i synced my phone book to the ubuntu one cloud, i used a sony ericsson back then. Today i have a new one and want to sync those contacts I stored to my E63. On the one.ubuntu.com there were instructions on how to setup mobile devices for sync but I cannot find it anywhere, even on blogs.
I really need the phonebook, it's some 300 contacts I cannot save by hand.
I've just set up dual boot Win 7 with openSUSE 11.2 but unfortunately I have run into a couple of problems. One of them is that I cannot set up my Bluetooth mouse, which works under windows.
I am typing this from Windows right now (wireless is not working either) so I cannot reproduce the exact steps but anyways, when I try to add a new Bluetooth device it first finds my mouse, and keeps searching, and then removes the mouse from the list, and keeps searching, then it finds it again, ... and it goes endlessly. If I select mouse on the list and click forward on the next screen I get an error saying that the mouse was not set up.
I just bought a pair of Samsung SBH500 headphones and a USB Bluetooth dongle. I was able to connect my headphones with no problems but I wanted to set them up to play music. I found this website: [URL]. I got to this command:

and got this error message
Code:
Can't write voice setting on hci0: Connection timed out (110)
Does anyone know what might be causing this?
I have an Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG built in on my laptop, and this has always been (relatively) simple to get running on both 11.1 and 11.2. When I install 11.3 I will also be installing an RT2870-based USB device (Jensen Airlink85300 LongRange Extreme-N 802.11b/g/n)
I must have wireless enabled under install to get the Intel recognized, but should I also have the RT2870 plugged in and ready to go? Or would it be best to wait until everything else is up and running?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm running Fedora 11 (same problem on my 32 and 64bit systems), I have Logitech bluetooth mice and keyboards hooked up to both of my systems. Occasionally, one of my keyboards stops responding and I simply open up the Bluetooth Preferences window, delete the keyboard and then set it up again. However, now when I click the Setup New Device button, nothing happens! This is happening on two seperate systems. Am I to believe this is the result of a bad update? I've checked my yum log and it hasen't updated any bluetooth packages for a few weeks now and this just started the other day. Any ideas what could be wrong?

So, after installing Lucid wireless doesn't work for me. When I click on the network icon on the status bar, it shows "wireless is disabled".
With that message, I press the wifi button on my HP laptop and it turns off my blue-tooth, without changing the status of my wifi.

I have installed ubuntu 9.10 on my laptop. It has a 802.11n wireless card.
When I boot up to ubuntu, the wireless does not work. And if I connect to a wire network within ubuntu, it works.
Ubuntu can't detect any of the Wifi network in my home (other laptop can). And I click 'Enable Wireless' in the notification area, it said 'Device not found' for the Wireless Network.
The card is 'Intel Wireless-N Card with Bluetooth'
Can you please tell me how can I setup my wireless card in ubuntu 9.10?
Is it possible to output one playback stream to multiple devices simultaneously with the current PulseAudio / Phonon setup? The PulseAudio mixer only has radio buttons to choose one device per playback stream. I believe the hardware is capable of this, since I remember doing that before we had PulseAudio. How can I duplicate an audio stream?
Here's one application scenario: I am travelling with my family, all crammed in small hotel room. My wife and me want to watch a movie on my laptop without waking up our kids. I just happen to have one analogue headphone available and one wireless USB headset with me. (Of course, the low tech solution is to bring an 3,5mm Y-cable to attach two analogue headsets, but I would really love to use the USB headset together with the analogue one.)
Another similar thing that bugs me is that my laptop's built-in speakers now always seem dead when an analogue headphone is plugged in. This is mostly what one wants, and before PulseAudio, one had to manually switch them off which was generally annoying. However, the downside is for example with notifications.
For example, before PulseAudio, I could configure Skype to always ring over the laptop's built-in speakers, regardless of whether the analogue headphones were plugged in. This is no longer possible, since PulseAudio does not distinguish between built-in speakers and built-in analogue port any more, while old Alsa did. So in my office, where some analogue headphones are plugged into the docking station, I never hear Skype ringing if I don't wear the headphones.

View 2 Replies View RelatedFor those of you that prefer open-source solutions, the b43 code to drive BCM432X 802.11n devices has just come to life. It can now scan and associate. Tests for throughput will come soon. These revisions to the driver will be in kernel 2.6.38, thus not in openSUSE until the next release after 11.4.
