View 4 Replies View RelatedCan this be done? A company is currently running a postfix mail server. They got a new server and, while the users are migrated, they need to have the messages delivered on BOTH servers.
I thought it could be easily done in postfix: deliver locally AND forward mail to new server, but all solutions I found would deliver the messages in just ONE place.
This message was created automatically by mail delivery software. A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

View 3 Replies View RelatedI will be relocating to a permanent residence sometime in the next year or two. I've recently begun thinking about the best way to implement a home-based network. It occurred to me that the most elegant solution might be the use of VM technology to eliminate as much hardware and wiring as possible. My thinking is this: Install a multi-core system and configure it to run several VMs, one each for a firewall, a caching proxy server, a mail server, a web server. Additionally, I would like to run 2-4 VMs as remote (RDP)workstations, using diskless workstations to boot the VMs over powerline ethernet. The latest powerline technology (available later this year) will allow multiple devices on a residential circuit operating at near gigabit speed, just like legacy wired networks.
In theory, the above would allow me to consolidate everything but the disklessworkstations on a single server and eliminate all wired (and wireless) connections except the broadband connection to the Internet and the cabling to the nearest power outlets. It appears technically possible, but I'm not sure about the various virtual connections among VMs. In theory, each VM should be able to communicate with the other as if it was on the same network via the server data bus, but what about setting up firewall zones? Any internal I/O bandwidth bottlenecks? Any other potential "gotchas", caveats, issues? (Other than the obvious requirement of having enough CPU and RAM).Any thoughts or observations welcome, especially if they are from real world experience in a VM environment. BTW--in case you're wondering why I'm posting here, it's because I run Debian on all my workstations/servers (running VirtualBox as a VM for Windows XP on one workstation).
I was using an email server from Icewarp, Merak Mail server V8.0.3 with a keygen for total full free use... I liked this server package... as everything is in there I need and it is controllable from a single window. Now I am planning to move to Linux... They have a Linux version, but not stable and expensive. Is there any thing almost free/less expensive (Specially they need yearly payment for upgrade of even the anti virus and anti spam)?
I need a almost same thing (except of the ftp and VoIP) like Merak (because that I really liked for ease of administration) in Linux? Like a Qmail with real strong Anti Virus and Anti Spam, with unlimited domain and user+autoresponder, mailing list, etc all but controllable from one single GUI?
My postfix server will not allow me to send mail except if I am on the server it self.My postfix conf is as follows.

This is my first post and I am a linux newbie.. took on the challenge of setting up an ubuntu server with proxy and firewall with vpn access as well.. sounds good? While messing with things, I installed ebox server, know called Zentyal and perform backups, however, when performing a full restore, following instructions and all it does not restore correctly. I ran many attempts with verious configurations and still allways got some errors, such as eboc-ebackup failing to start, etc. most noteably wa sthe ldap error, which i figured out how to fix by restarting once logged into and then rebooting.
I say the Clonezilla options for a full backup, and it sounds great, but does require me to perform a full abckup, while bring the server down to perform. What I wanted to know, was what do you recommend for performing a full backup (possibly to NTFS partition or USB key with FAT32) with automation or even if i had to perform the trigger, just without needing to bring the server down, so when i go into production i dont have any issues backing up anytime?
I would like to set disclaimer like content in my meral mail server, so that all the users should be able to get that content automatically in their outgoing mails.

I'm having a problem whereby I'm able to send mail to a mailbox from several different email addresses and SMTP servers (gmail, RoadRunner broadband), but I'm unable to send mail to the same address from one particular account, the SMTP server for which runs on a mediaTemple (dv) 3.0 box with CentOS 5 Final.I've spent a full workday on the forums, trying to troubleshoot the issue, and I'm running out of ideas. The server on which I'm having the mail processing problem is a mediaTemple (ve) running Ubuntu 10.04 x64 (Linux 2.6.18-028stab070.7 #1 SMP Fri Oct 1 13:53:00 MSD 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux), with ISPConfig 3. Here's how I setup the mail-related aspects of the Ubuntu box:
Code:
apt-get install postfix postfix-mysql postfix-doc mysql-client mysql-server openssl getmail4 rkhunter binutils dovecot-imapd dovecot-pop3d

I did a a basic install of postfix and dovecot instead of using courier-pop and courier-imap. This is only send and receiving e-mail locally within the test network 10.7.0.X and 10.0.0.X. I used:

After searching the forum I could not find a clear answer to my question so I am giving it a try...
I have installed a LAMP server with Postfix as mail server. The scripts send email as user www-data using the mail server on the same machine.
However, the email got rejected by external mail servers (failed reverse DNS check) so I setup a mail server that meets all needed requirements.
Now I would like to use this second server instead of the mail server on the LAMP server. I found that this could be done with changing sendmail settings in php.ini (I think).
However I am not sure how that will go: www-data is no actual user on the new email server (which requires authentication before sending). Do I need to create a new user on the email server or change the settings in php.ini to match an existing user?
I have users [URL] unable to send email to [URL]. [URL] user also unable to send email to [URL]. But both email addresses are fine as they can receive email from others or from [URL] and [URL]. I able to telnet mail server 110 and 25, no problem. Version: ESMTP Sendmail 8.12.10

I have one server at home, connected through a router that gives me a static IP:192.168.1.2 - My PC192.168.1.3 - CentOS serverI enabled the port 80 into router forwarding system and I can connect properly to CentOS server, using the IP my internet provider gives me. My router automatically forwards a changed IP to my dyndns.com account so I can also access the server through a domain name (I pay to have it linked to one of my domains). My next step is to configure the mail server (dovecot) , so I can send emails from my local server(192.168.1.3).I was wondering if anyone has any tutorial links or tips to have the mail server configured through a home internet provider + home router.

I am running a CentOS 5.6 Server with a website and Forum. The website has a contact form and users can email various people in the organization. I have setup sendmail to send any mails like this to my email address on a Windows machine. The problem is that there emails don't have a header which has the senders original email header. It comes from localhost on my sendmail. How can I get any mail generated from the apache site to ALSO send mail to root on the Centos Server? That way I should be able to see the header and report the spammer or block them.
