View 4 Replies View RelatedI have installed Ubuntu for netbooks on my four year old laptop and of course the wifi card is unable to search for wireless networks when I'm booted into Ubuntu. I do have the driver software on a recovery disk. Would installing it in Ubuntu fix my problems?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if there's any way for a laptop to be both simultaneously connected to a wireless network, while at the same time acting as an ad-hoc network with local access to serve as a wifi connection for my mobile device, which would be ssh-ing into the laptop and using local resources.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have Fedora11 running in my machine and it has no LAN port (RJ-45). I have a wireless PCMCIA card. The model of the wireless card is NL-2511CD EXT2(ETSI).When I insert that card to the PCMCIA slot a window pops up and ask for a WEP key. My wireless router is configured with WPA but above pop-up has no WPA option. I suspect my fedora installation does not have the necessary driver for my wireless card.I want to install that driver. I can transfer that file to the machine via thumb drive since it has no network connection yet. How do I install this? Please refer below images as I'm still a newbie at linux.

I currently dont have the cd/dvd of RHEL 5. But i need to install gcc. I have been searching all day but wasnt able to find any rpm that is related to RHEL5. I download the following file
gcc-3.0.4.tar.gz
and extracted it, Then i run the following command
[root@WAN-Admin gcc-3.0.4]# ./configure
Configuring for a i686-pc-linux-gnu host.
Created "Makefile" in /root/new/gcc-3.0.4 using "mt-frag"
/tmp/cNf11430/cNf11430.pos: line 7: cc: command not found
*** The command 'cc -o conftest -g conftest.c' failed.
*** You must set the environment variable CC to a working compiler.
Now i am really hanged as what to do now. I added rpmfusion as my yum repo, i searched rpmpbone.net for gcc file for RHEL5 but it seems its not there for this version.

Based on the some forum that I've read, adding the MODULE_LICENSE("GPL") is one of the solution. I did add it inside usb_main_dev.c and recompile but I still get the same errors.
I am final year MCA student. I like to do my project in Linux. I know a little in C. I am pursuing RHCE certification. I am using rhel5. I am interested to write linux device drivers and willing to do my project in that.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've had an annoying couple of days beginning with a win7 reinstall on a dual boot system (win7/10.10) that wiped out grub. I reinstalled ubuntu (10.04) in the hopes of just getting grub2 back up, but that failed and I ended up with a new install of 10.04 on the partition and a happily functioning and coexisting win7/ubuntu wit grub working the way that I wanted.
However, I'm traveling, and tried to reinstall the wifi drivers manually. I think I messed something up and installed the 10.10 drivers onto the 10.04 system (I only had a 10.04 disk and the pendrive usb method failed). Anyway, when I tried to (re)install the drivers from the cd, I got the error: a later driver has already been installed. However, the problem at hand is as follows: now my win7 install doesn't see any of the wireless networks around. So, I think I somehow fraked the wifi card.
I have 2 connections, wlan and wired, and I'd want to have a few websites (in my browser) to connect through the wireless connection while other go through the wired rj45 connection. s it possible? (without unplugging the rj45 cable...)

I saw a network once that used bonding (some people called it "port trunking") to combine two network cards into a single connection to get twice the bandwidth. I have a slow Wifi network with not so great reception. I actually have two spare WiFi cards and want to try to bond them so I can get a faster intranet (not internet). Has anyone successfully bonded two WiFi cards and had pleasant results? Is there an easier way to get better bandwidth with two cards? My router and my remote machine are both running Linux.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a user using Mac OSX and ssh-ing to a couple of Redhat servers, one running RHEL5 and the other RHEL6. The user's connection seems to be timing out after 60 minutes or so of inactivity. The user is on the same subnet as the servers. Both servers have the same sshd_config files with the following entries with regards to timeout:
TCPKeepAlive yes
ClientAliveInterval 30
ClientAliveCountMax 99999
In a nutshell, his office Mac keeps getting dropped off both machines. Other machines, including the Mac he logs in with from home doesn't get timed out and keep the connection open. The log files are unremarkable and the switch port shows no errors
