Fedora :: Getting Korean Input Wrong In 11

Aug 19, 2009

I'd like to use Korean but have an English keyboard, an English environment, and need to input via this method. It appears that there is currently no way to use ibus and have the functionality of the "hangul-romaja" tables that SCIM had. For example, it used to be, using Hangul-romaja, that I could type the letters "g" and "a" to get the Korean "가" (ga).

Now, the moment I type "g" it automatically writes. Typing "g" and "a" produces: Am I just doing something wrong? Using Anthy in Japanese works just fine...typing "g" and "a" produces a "が" just like it's supposed to. Anyone out there know what to do to get Hangul-romaja (or something similar!) working in ibus? Am I stuck having to just guess at the Korean keyboard layout or memorize it somewhere? Might there already be an ibus-compatible solution for this?

General :: Internet Explorer Not Downloading Files From System Server / Work Around This?

Jan 27, 2010

I have a very simple php web application deployed on linux (centOS4) machine. It creates a file and stores the file in /tmp folder on my linux machine. The path for this file is specified in the href attribute of the link. Ideally when we click this link the download manager should pop up so that the file can be downloaded on client machine.
When i access this website remotely from my window xp machine on firefox it downloads the file properly but when i run on internet explorer (i have IE7 on my windows XP) and click the link, the download manager does'nt pop's up. even when i right-click that link and select save as, an error message pop's up saying "file path not found". possibly IE is not able to determine the linux file path .so how do i work around this. is there some specific way for specifying the linux file paths to be downloaded by IE?

OpenSUSE :: Language Input Method Setup In 11.4?

Mar 11, 2011

I just switched back from Mint 10, and while setting to work different input method apps like SCIM and Ibus, bumped into a problem(welcome back to SUSE). After installing Scim, my chinese input works only on one application (Goldendict), it doesn't work in any other app. So I tried Ibus, same result. SO far nothing helped me to make them work. What I 'm trying to find out. Is where I can setup language input method in SUSE, I haven't found such an option anywhere in KDE, yast. WHile in Mint there is such an option, where you can change your inpud method either to scim, xim, scim-bridge or ibus. I tried qtconfig, there I found it, P.S. Warning rage words!: I feel like I should say it. But my previous SUSE experience and overall usage history proves that there is no better distro than Ubuntu nowadays, this is sad indeed, cause I used to start from SUSE. But its true, SUSE is a real pain in the ***, when it comes to getting things done. It seems like whenever u try to setup something there is always a bad feeling of failure. Don't know, but again I'm been consecutively annoyed but its numbness. I'm sorry, cause I feel like I disregard ppl's hard work and support.

Programming :: Passing Input To Processes As Streams (language-neutral)?

Jun 5, 2009

I am trying to figure out if there is a way to start a process, and while it is running, pass input to it as though it were a stream. Although the subject of this post mentions this question is "language-neutral", specifically, I am trying to do this in Common Lisp. Truly, I am looking for the principles behind the method of doing this, which seem to me as though they would be language neutral.

I have done Google searches, and found nothing relevant to my query. Without using sockets and IP communication, I would like to start a process (let's use the MySQL command-line client, for example) and then in my Common Lisp (CL) program, pass it input like so:

Code:

(format *mysql-client-instance* "SELECT * FROM some_table;")

Simply, how would I go about sending input to an active process as though it were a stream? My thinking is there has to be some way to do it - similar to the Expect superset of Tcl.

Ubuntu Installation :: Clicking On "Home" Yields "Wine Internet Explorer"

Oct 17, 2010

Using Gnome, when I click on "Places", the usual drop-down menu appears; but clicking on "Home" or any of the other options in the top portion of the menu yields, not Nautilus, but "Wine Internet Explorer". What can I do to fix this?

Background: I just performed a clean install of Maverick, after a failed attempt to upgrade to 10.10 via the Update Manager. This is on an IBM Thinkpad T42, on which Ubuntu is the only operating system, all traces of MS Windows--including "Internet Explorer"--having been eliminated. In Ubuntu, the root folder, "/", and the home folder, "/home", are on separate partitions, of approximately 10GB and 40GB, respectively. Previously, 9.04, 9.10, and 10.04 have worked just fine.
