Slow access to web site using squid and Internet explorer.I am trying to troubleshoot an issue I am stuck on. We have a website that is loading .htm documents extremely slow when using Internet Explorer 8 behind Squid. When we bypass the proxy and go directly out to the internet all is fast and pages load fine.But when the proxy is on documents will take sometimes up to 6 minutes to load.This issue is only apparent using Internet explorer 8.I do not see the issue when using firefox with Squid.I have tried to use the no_cache directive thinking it may have been the cache but that didn't work either.I am attaching our access.log, store.log and squid.conf.
I have configured a squid proxy server with @2 eth in different network subnet and with site blocking and extn file download blocking. One eth0 for office wired network and another eth1 is for office wireless network for laptop use for guest and visitors.
The problem is [URL] is an Indian government website, which is not working though this proxy server and the Internet Explorer is getting very slow and freezing the computer. In alternate I have configured a another test server with squid proxy with out any security and test the same. the problem is still with the all the computer in the network. The above website is perfectly working with Gateway configuration in TCP/IP properties in Network Configuration in MS Windows XP computers but through squid proxy its not working.
I am using Squid Server from last 5years. There is a site "http://www.firstflight.net", which was accessible before few days but now I am unable to access this site. If I use IE8 then getting below error:
"Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage"
Or using Google chrome getting error:
"This webpage is not available The webpage at http://www.firstflight.net/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. Error 330 (net::ERR_CONTENT_DECODING_FAILED): Unknown error."
*I use Firefox us my default browsers , along with chrome $ opera.
*but there is problem with some sites which is not supported by the browser when i open these sites this text will appear " you need internet explorer 5 or later to open this site"
*i try to use IE tab inside Firefox but it not support my platform . * i don't want to use wine for installing IE because i don't like it.

so any one give me help no matter for any other browser , opera ,chrome.
Centos 5.4 distro using on remote machine. I have remote site where internet access given via squid proxy. So when we enter in browser it start working internet fine. But on command line (bash shell prompt terminal) like wget, ping, nslookup, traceroute etc., these commands does not work.
I've a SQUID proxy server installed in SUSE 9.0 ES server. I've created cache dirs on seperate partitions for better caching. Its working fine. But since last 15-20 days, i've experienced very slow net access to clients. I've gone through the /var/log/messeges file, it generates a two line error messeges
This messege increases as the number of clients increates (for internet access). The apperance of error messege lowering down as soon as the number of clients reduces.
As the count of clients increases error messeges increases, internet access getting slower and slower.
I have an old FC2 box running Squid version 2.5. It has been running since 2003 so I am in the process of replacing it. I have a new machine with FC11, iptables, and Squid 3.0 installed.
On the old machine I use iptables to intercept Port 80 traffic and send it to Squid. By default I block all internet access and allow only sites that are in an Allowed_Sites.txt file. Within Squid I also have statements to allow certain users to bypass Squid based on their IP address.
I have set up the same thing on the new box. I have iptables intercepting the Port 80 traffic and sending it to Squid. That is working because if I remove the redirect statement from iptables all internet access is blocked.
The problem I am having is that Squid is not blocking any websites. It acts like the ACL is set to http_access allow all. I have worked on this for several hours and am stumped.
In the office there is a local network with samba+openldap PDC. The local domain name is company.net. The company desided to create a corporate Website on a remote hosting and desided that the site's domain should be company.net which is same as local network's domain name. So now it is not possible to reach that corporate website from within the company's local network because, as I guess, bind9 which is installed on above menioned PDC looks for company.net on a local webserver. Is there a possibility to let people from this local network browse the remote site?
I have a very simple php web application deployed on linux (centOS4) machine. It creates a file and stores the file in /tmp folder on my linux machine. The path for this file is specified in the href attribute of the link. Ideally when we click this link the download manager should pop up so that the file can be downloaded on client machine. When i access this website remotely from my window xp machine on firefox it downloads the file properly but when i run on internet explorer (i have IE7 on my windows XP) and click the link, the download manager does'nt pop's up. even when i right-click that link and select save as, an error message pop's up saying "file path not found". possibly IE is not able to determine the linux file path .so how do i work around this. is there some specific way for specifying the linux file paths to be downloaded by IE?
How can I block access to a certain internet site using ufw? Let's say I want to block access to www.xxx.zzz (IP 1.2.3.4) to any program and user; using iptables I can do
sudo iptables -A OUTPUT -d 1.2.3.4 -j DROP how can I do that using ufw? if ufw can not do this, where should I put this rule to persist it over reboot, without interfering with ufw chains infrastructure?
In one of our network we are using one firewall which works as gateway. All machines are able to access internet through this gateway. There is no filtering and any internet restriction. I would like to setup monitoring system which monitor and log bandwidth and sites access by client machine. Is there any tool which monitor internet access as well as sites which are access from client machines.
Have no idea what I am doing operating a server. Our programmer got a new job and I am the one who has to take it over. Everything was fine til yesterday. You see I made a control panel to easier update the site www(dot)discoverysound(dot)com
but yesterday when I went to update the site I got an error called fopen. I thought I fixed it (and boy did I ever) but now I cannot get to my site because it says Forbidden You don't have permission to access / on this server. I am using internet web control through squid... All is working fine only some little bit issues.
(1) Sometime when i tried to open google.com or any site I got message (The requested URL could not be retrieved) Screen Shot Attached.) but again after sometimes same websites will open.

(2) I would like to block word 'sex'.. So I have edit squid.conf with the following acl
acl Blockword url_regex sex http_access deny Blockword
but problem occur in some websites where 'sensex' word found in url. Then squid block 'sensex' url content website also..
I've been using squid-cache for a long time for authentication/authorization. It has work fine for years, but now it starts working too slow only in one computer (the others, works fine).
It's configured as a reverse proxy.
I see it can be a DNS problem, but the computer is configured with the same dns servers in resolv.conf that the other computers have.
I use squid 2.6.stable14 on RHEL 4.4.
If I restart the service (service squid restart) it works fine, but 15-20 minutes later, the problem repeats.
I have installed debian to run Squid cache as a caching proxy. Ive been bashing away now for 2 days and i have managed to install squid (i first tried manually, but that did not work so i used synaptic software packager to install it (from Administration menu) That went well, thereafter i installed webamin to work with squid in a GUI
I have managed to start squid and added my range of IP addresses to the ACL list I have added the proxy restriction too.
Now, i tried to test it. I opened Iceweasel Web browser (on the same machine) and setit to use the Proxy server: localhost and port:3128 That works fine.
But when i try to change the proxy setting to my machines ip (where squid is installed) : Proxy server: 10.0.0.35 and port:3128 That does not work. Am i missing something, please help I then tried to set another windows PC on the network to: Proxy server: 10.0.0.35 and port:3128 That also does not work.
I also edited the conf file to http_access allow all, but i do not know if i have doen it correctly, but maybe there is another problem?
I have start apache, and can see my site on 127.0.0.1, but I have router and don't know how to check my site from outside (Internet bellow). I have no domain name registered. Just want to check web server.

The router has static IP xxx.xxx.xxx.239 from the my internet provider and assign 192.168.1.100 to my computer.
I am using Redhat linux 9.0 and using squid proxy server.My problem is tht i my squid server is responsing very slowing. whenevr i try to open sites the site starts to open after 3 or 4 seconds and often squid does not open the complete site. its stop the site in middle. I have a server and i think that my server is under Ddos attack. i see that server is not having much load and only few process runs but my site opens very slow. i executed the following command on my ssh:
I have a linux box (fedora) with two ethernet cards eth1 and eth2. On eth1 I successfully configured a PPPOE internet connection. Such that from the server I can browse the internet. On eth2 I wired it to a wireless router essentially to provide the wireless cloud. On eth2 I also configured dhcp, such that the Linux box is both PPPOE and DHCP server.However my clients on the LAN cannot access the Internet.
On passing the routing command I get Destination Gateway Iface 196.44.x.y 0.0.0.0 ppp0 192.168.1.0 0.0.0.0 eth2 (my subnet) 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 ppp0.
The router (functioning as a wireless access point mainly) has a fixed IP address of 192.168.1.2 and eth2 has IP address 192.168.1.1. The dhcp file running on Linux has been set with option router (Gateway) 192.168.1.1. I cannot figure out how to correctly set the routing table such that my clients on wireless can access the internet cloud. I googled and googled but no solid solution. Any suggestions?
I'm going away for the weekend and will only be able to bring my laptop that has the latest release of Ubuntu on it. My question is: will i be able to access my company's Terminal Server site [URL] from browser in Linux, and be able to launch the applications? (Outlook, etc.) Seems to connect to Windows Server 2008. If this works in Linux, that would make my life a lot easier..
When I am running Ktorrent it takes about 30 seconds for a web page to open, in stead of 1 or 2 seconds. The download speed is very slow 200B/s and the status of most of the torrents is "Stalled". If have opened TCP and UDP ports 36477 4444 6881, 7881, 8881 and added them to the port forwarding list in my router. No difference.
i m using squid for internet sharing, i am facing problem while accessing public ftp, therer is no problem in accessing local ftp, but if try to access public ftp like ftp://125.125.20.2 i am getting error
' An FTP authentication failure occurred while trying to retrieve the URL: ftp://125.125.20.3/
Squid sent the following FTP command:
PASS <yourpassword>and then received this reply User anonymous cannot log in.Your cache administrator is root.'
if i try to access local ftp ' ftp://10.185.200.12' getting no error

My company is using Squid Proxy 2.6 for internet connection. Recently we implement a Webmail system. This is the link [URL] can access it using computer directly connect to internet but those using Squid Proxy are unable to Login although the login screen appear. Is this cause by the squid.conf setting or something else?
I have Fedora Core 13 running. I have successfully (I think) installed squid, although I may have it configured incorrectly. I can ssh into the box from work via putty, but I can't use the proxy. I get a message "the connection to the server was reset while the page was loading" I can use the proxy from my home network, and have watched the tcpdump for port 3128 while using the proxy. I have turned off iptables completely (I'm not sure yet how to just allow squid)...
