General :: How To Stop Form Feeding After Printing
Aug 17, 2010
I have developed an application in Qt.I want to print my text(for e.g "hello") using Qprinter and stop the printer. The text printer but i dont want form feeding after printing.
We are using several printers on our Linux RH network to print customer invoices and receipts. Receipts are short forms of just 21 or 22 lines. Two of the printers (an HP LJ1300 and a Dell 5200) eject the receipt paper automatically; the other two HP (a LJ 4200 and a LJ2420) do not eject. You have to press the green button on the printer. Is there a solution to that? They are all set up with the same PCL settings.
I am learning PHP to take information submitted in a web-form and store it in a MySQL database, but I also need it to automatically print to the laser printer I have setup. So that a notice or printout is produced of the information.
My question is... what route do I go to automate printing from web-based information in a PHP/MySQL database?
Is it PERL ? or does PHP have a feature to do this?
I have a database (Mysql) with records of our club members. It is quite small only about 300 records. Unfortunately there are gaps in the information and I would like to be able to print out (two records to an A4 sheet) the records in form format so that I can pass these to the members who will fill in any blanks in the record.
If it is not possible to do what I want from the database I can convert the records to a spreadsheet and do it from there.
I am posting this just for the sake of curiosity. I am trying to feed a while loop structure with a command output, but using the bash built-in I get the error "ambiguous redirect":
i started messing around with conky. its really neat and i like making new configurations and what not, just for fun. the thing is, the other day i was playing around with the 'cpu' variables (cpu, cpubar, cpuguage) normally if you wanted to see the usage of say cpu0 or cpu1 you could call the variable as ${cpu cpu0} or ${cpu cpu1} respectively. well i input ${cpu5} (obviously i dont have 5 cpu's) well it still gave me output as if it was showing me the usage of that cpu. can any of you guys explain this. it also works for other parameters as well. is conky just showing me a bunch of random graphs and percentages or when i called that imaginary cpu does it default to a certain one. these are the only two answers i can come up with on my own.
How do I stop a printer from printing? Here's what happened- I started to print some PDF stuff and then changed my mind. The printing job hadn't finished so I just clicked on the printer icon and selected QUIT. Well, of course that didn't work so I just turned the printer off......same result- when I turn the printer back on it keeps on printing the same stuff. How do I stop the printer from continuing and delete all print jobs?
If I have an interactive program, e.g top, which, after launch, can be fed with key strokes and changes its behavior, for example, after launching top and then pressing "1", you can see the CPU utilization per core. I was wondering if there is a programmatical way to do so, so I don't have to press "1" every time. I would think it is an easy task, but so far my attempts have failed.
I have a HP printer connected to Ubuntu 10.04. Just recently I noticed that when I print something it also prints a cover page with some info about print job. Does anyone know how to stop printing the cover page? This is a serious waste of paper.
Every now and then on my non-graphical console-orientated Debian Squeeze system, some services see it fit to spill their juices all over what I am doing.
A message about a service stopping/starting/restarting prints at the location of my cursor ontop of whatever I was doing at that moment, forcing me to either redraw ( if the currently running application supports it ), background and then foreground what I'm doing or clear the screen if at the shell.
Code: * Restarting OpenBSD Secure Shell server sshd * Restarting advanced system logger rsyslogd How can I stop these messages appearing? Even better would be to send them to /dev/tty8 where I've configured rsyslogd to write.
Mandriva-2009.1 tries to install a package called Task-Printing-Server every time I power up my PSC-1401 All-In-One (multifunction) printer. This is very annoying & I want to stop these pop-up messages. This printer uses the hplip package (PSC_1400.ppd for printing & hpaio for scanning) & everything works fine except for those annoying pop-up messages.
I've already tried Seamonkey to create a web page but can find no way to create a web form in which I want to create form fields. Before moving to Ubuntu I used Microsoft FrontPage to create web pages with form fields. This was easy to do. what is available to do the same in Ubuntu?
I have a script which checks on my jobs that run on some cluster. The script, "script.sh", takes as an input the job-id for the job to be checked. Sometimes I have 100s of jobs and I want to check them all (for successful completion.) I could put these job-ids into a text file, "job-id.txt", each id in its own line. For each job-id, the script would ask me few questions (with a yes or no answers) to see if I want to do some other checks for each job-id.I want to know how may I direct my job-ids from this text file into the script one job-id at a time.
how to get vgrabbj to start feeding images from a webcam to stopmotion? What I get now is all green screen, both in stopmotion and vgrabbj:
"tam:~$ vgrabbj -f test.jpg -d /dev/video0 -i vga -F 1 && eog test.jpg Unable to set palette Unable to set palette Unable to set palette Reading image from /dev/video0
There was no map allocated to be freed Gives a green window. This is Logitech Quickcam 3000 RT. Is there a better suiting grabber for this camera?
whats the difference between restarting/stopping apache using 'service httpd restart/stop' and apachectl restart/stop. I know that using 'service httpd restart' is actually a script in /etc/init.d/httpd but what about apachectl?
So a family member was very nice and got me a killer server for my house. Not sure what I will do with it just yet. I will post spects shortly. Its Intel raided 2 750G drive 2G CPU and I believe 2 or 4 G memory. Rack mount with a KVM on it.
I have narrowed it down to 3 OS choices. Ubuntu : I run this on my LT and find it very nice for that. Some nice Media server Sw out there for it. I do some side work on RedHat and for my current employer so I was thinking CentOS or Fedora so I have a system running a similar OS on it.
At home this may be a www or media server for me long term. Or I may just use it as a test system initially to work on these Linux versions. I know this is all subjective and depends on what I plan to do with the server in the long run.
But out of the Fedora and CentOS release which is better knowing I am doing work in Red Hat for my current employer?
I m trying to access a site through a perl script for a project of mine, and i use a system call fora wget.
The login form is this
Code:
I mean should i add in the --post-data all the hidden fields? should i try using perl's md5 function for the last two fields? anyone has any idea on what are the elements i should be sending along --post-data?
Is there a way to --load-cookies from mozilla or something similar instead of creating new cookies with wget?
I v been trying to make a pop up window or form for my user once they get to my index page then a form comes in the middle of the screen asking questions . also i want a pop up form to pop up when some one is trying to exit my page to pop up
I expected more from ubuntu 10.4 with regards to printing with exact size photos and with poor auto colour printing but the situation remains unchanged! for instance .. the photo size configurations for ubuntu/fspot/gimp and others are not compatible with my printers (HP and Brother) .. here in Europe a typical standard size photo (10x15inches or 150x100mm are not even on the Ubuntu listing? I have tried all listed possibilities including "custom" (which does not seem to ever work correctly?)and the result at best is photos with uneven boarders or at worse my printer goes a bit crazy with much wasted photo paper and expensive ink ...even photos selected for "no boarders" still produces photos with the self same uneven boarders.
I have tried pretty much everything over time following advice in this forum and including using HPlip and updating drivers required for my Brother printer but the root problem seemingly lies with the Ubunto photo size setup listing. Working with Ubuntu over the years I have found that it can do pretty much everything that Windows can do except for this dam ongoing photo quality and configuration problem.
I would want a linux print server in the form of a web interface, where you upload a PDF, doc, JPG, PNG, PPT, TXT, HTM etc file in a file upload box, and then that file is printed to a USB connected Samsung CLX-3185 printer.Which linux distribution and software should I use then? I would want it to support so many file formats its possible.
I developed a test program(my first under linux) some thing like g++ -I$(BOOST_INCLUDE) -L$(BOOST_LIBS) threading.cpp -lpthread -lboostThread -lOtherLib -o threadingTest.out...This thing works in GCC4.5, but to compile it under windows visual studio 2008, do I have to create a new project file and then include all libs? In short, is there any IDE or utility, where I just compile it either on linux or windows without going and modifying project options again and again ?
I have Fedora 14 installed. I'm trying to install CentOS 5.5 from the hard disk. I copied the seven part iso to the /iso. I didn't create a directory in the /iso. I ran the md5sum on the seven parts and compared it with the md5sum that is provided on the website and they are all identical.
When I tried to install from the hard problem, the first thing is instead of sda1,2,3,5 I found the following options:
well, I selected /dev/hda2 and left the directory blank. The images can't be found. What am I doing wrong? And why is the difference between sda in the partition and hda in the installation?
I have just installed the centos 5.3 on my server machine. It looks for a USB media to boot. But I am not able to figure it out what i have done wrong. Why does it asks for USB media? If I have created a dependency of USB to boot, Is there any way i can remove this dependency. Or I have to reinstall the OS again?
Possible Duplicate: How to recover form information for a webpage in Firefox I typed a couple of paragraphs on a discussion board, but when I clicked the submit button, the site was undergoing (un)scheduled maintenance, and the back button decided to refresh the page, sending my paragraphs into oblivion.A quick web search revealed that Lazarus provides form recovery for Firefox. However, installing a plugin requires restarting Firefox, and even after restarting Firefox (which I haven't done yet), Lazarus can't recover forms it hasn't backed up yet.Now that the horse is out of the barn, I want to do the impossible: restore some or all of the text I typed, without restarting my browser.
Edit: I should clarify. Lazarus is a wonderful solution for preventing future form data loss. This question is for people who have already navigated away from their form and lost its contents, but hope there is some way to salvage the situation. My solution was to get a core dump of the process and grep through it, but there might be a layman's way to do it (for example, somehow get Firefox to load the cached version of the previous page). Thus, solutions that only solve the problem in the future, without addressing the present, are off-topic in this question.
I am wondering is it possible to echo values like below described? The situation is - there are too many "doc" files named like "PLCI507_01234567.doc", and there is a Form in a text file named "form.txt" looks like below:
I am already able to create files in the same format for each documents but now I want all the information in a single form and the form should be updated with file informations ie. file name, created date, md5sum etc.
