General :: Recover A Form In Firefox *without* Installing A Plugin?

Jan 22, 2011

Possible Duplicate: How to recover form information for a webpage in Firefox I typed a couple of paragraphs on a discussion board, but when I clicked the submit button, the site was undergoing (un)scheduled maintenance, and the back button decided to refresh the page, sending my paragraphs into oblivion.A quick web search revealed that Lazarus provides form recovery for Firefox. However, installing a plugin requires restarting Firefox, and even after restarting Firefox (which I haven't done yet), Lazarus can't recover forms it hasn't backed up yet.Now that the horse is out of the barn, I want to do the impossible: restore some or all of the text I typed, without restarting my browser.

Edit: I should clarify. Lazarus is a wonderful solution for preventing future form data loss. This question is for people who have already navigated away from their form and lost its contents, but hope there is some way to salvage the situation. My solution was to get a core dump of the process and grep through it, but there might be a layman's way to do it (for example, somehow get Firefox to load the cached version of the previous page). Thus, solutions that only solve the problem in the future, without addressing the present, are off-topic in this question.

General :: Firefox JRE Plugin Installation / Firefox Isn't Able To Recognise The Plugin?

Apr 11, 2011

Yesterday I wasn't able to successful enable JRE in my firefox.This is what I did ,

I downloaded the rpm from the file and installed it in /usr/java Code: chmod a+x jre-6u<version>-linux-i586-rpm.bin./jre-6u<version>-linux-i586-rpm.bin This successfully installed Firefox JRE in my system now in order to make firefox know abt it

I went to /usr/lib/firefox/plugins and
Code:
ln -s /usr/java/jre1.6.0_24/lib/i386/libnpjp2.so as said in the instruction manual. Still firefox isn't able to recognise the plugin.

Slackware :: Installing Java Plugin For Firefox On 13.1?

Jun 13, 2011

I have an openvz vps and it has a vps admin panel from solusvm for administration.In the vps admin panel is a console (Java), but mine looks like the picture below.I checked in firefox and thought maybe there was something wrong with my java plugin. Everywhere I look I see different instructions with different directories and it was confusing.So I said just do it like slackware and I got the slackware64-current/source/local/jre directory and build jre-6u25xx86_64-1.txz from jre.SlackBuild and then upgradepkg --install-new --verbose jre-6u20-x86_64-1%jre-6u25-x86_64-1.txzI hope I didn't break my slackware.Before I did that, I disabled my flash plugin in firefox according to some instructions before upgrading jre.Then I went to my vps control solusvm vps control panel and went to console. Nothing.Then I remembered I disabled my flash plugin in firefox. so I enabled it. It's works again. I get the same error as in the picture all over again.So if that doesn't make my vps control panel work, what do I need to do to make it work? I tried in windows and it had to install the flasplayer plugin before it worked - Are there more than one flashplayer plugins?

Fedora :: Installing Flash Plugin For Mozilla Firefox

Dec 22, 2009

I have Fedora 12 installed:

Firefox version :
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1.6) Gecko/20091216 Fedora/3.5.6-1.fc12 Firefox/3.5.6

I have installed the flash-plugin using yum. Restarted firefox but still not able to play ..... videos.

[root@saurav tonan]# yum install flash-plugin
Loaded plugins: download only, presto, refresh-packagekit
Setting up Install Process
Package flash-plugin-10.0.42.34-release.i386 already installed and latest version
Nothing to do

But I am not able to see it in the plugins list, when I goto Tool >> add-ons >> plugins. I tried about login in the browser address bar, got the list, but its a lot of details, which one would tell me that the adobe flash player is installed. Later I downloaded the tar file and unzipped it and manually placed the .so file in the plugin folder as mentioned in the forums, but no luck.

When I tried to install from the hard problem, the first thing is instead of sda1,2,3,5 I found the following options:

well, I selected /dev/hda2 and left the directory blank. The images can't be found. What am I doing wrong? And why is the difference between sda in the partition and hda in the installation?

Slackware :: Installing Java Error - When Trying To Run A Java App With The Firefox Plugin - Browser Crashe

May 29, 2011

Code: ~ $ /usr/java/jre1.6.0_25/bin/java -showversion Error occurred during initialization of VMjava/lang/NoClassDefFoundError: java/lang/Object

That's the error I get. When trying to run a java app with the firefox plugin, the browser simply crashes if it's the 64bit java or tells me it's not installed if it's the 32bit version.

I'm at a loss as to what to do. I think it has something to do with leftover gunk from a previous version I misinstalled(Is that even a word?) Anyway, the only thing that google could come up with was a solution for windows which laid blame on Bill Gates for having a bunch of pf (java prefetch) files stuffed into c:windows for no apparent reason. The solution was to delete them, but I can't seem to find the java prefetch folder in linux. The method I used is downloading the rpm from java.com the rpm2tgz then installpkg then cp libnpjp2.so to firefox plugins folder.

Where to find a plug-in for Firefox that supports the following functions:
- Showing translation of a word by a simple shortcut (like Shift + Right click).
- Allowing to modify list of dictionaries (by giving links to web dictionaries).
- Storing the words into personal vocabulary for later reference.
- Allowing to type in the word for translation.
There is a large list of plug-ins for Firefox that have some of the functionality above, but after quite a long time I wasn't able to find one that satisfies all of the requirements.

General :: Add Java Plugin To User-mode Firefox ?

Sep 29, 2010

I have installed firefox to a user directory (version 3.6.10) /cache/app/firefox.

I have installed java jre1.6.0_21 to /cache/app/java/jre1.6.0_21

I have symlinked /cache/app/java/jre1.6.0_21/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so to /cache/app/firefox/plugins/libjavaplugin_oji.so

So, in theory, when I start firefox the plugin should be listed in about:config - wrong. I have lots of other plugins working just fine, but java is not listed anywhere.

I ran strace -F ./firefox >/tmp/output.txt 2>&1 (the -F is necessary as firefox plugins are now loaded in a forked process). Firefox clearly finds my plugin:

It clearly looks like the plugin is being found, opened, and the first 512 bytes read and possibly memory mapped. So why doesn't it appear in the list of plugins?

One clue could be that there's another older plugin lying in the default directories (and I can't change this, I don't have root, hence running firefox in user mode).

Though surely firefox is smart enough to pick the latest one and use that? Is there a way of turning debugging ON during firefox start-up so I can find a debug message that explains why the latest JRE 1.6 plugin is being passed over?

Ubuntu Installation :: Firefox 3.6.8 Won't Let Me Upload Files Using HTML Form

Aug 3, 2010

I'm having a weird problem while uploading a file using a standard html form in Firefox 3.6.8(No extensions, except for the preloaded ones : Ubuntu Firefox modifications 0.9Rc2, mouse gesture redox 3.0.2 ). Anytime I try to upload a file whether on my localhost or at a website that offers a form with an input file, it fails. I'm just using test files, like small images. I've reinstalled my firefox, because I got this problem since 9.10 and now that I've upgraded to Lucid Lynx, I still have this issue. That's why I decided to do a fresh re-install using the same package I've downloaded previously when I did the ugprade. However, I still have the same result, the file never uploads to the server.

This happens when I use a simple html form with enctype="multipart/form-data". Though, when I use any other browser, like chrome, chromium, opera they just work fine. At my localhost, this is my code in one page, if you want to take a look, but as I say even with other websites the problem is happening too. Btw, the temp folders have written permissions (777)

PHP Code:

error_reporting(E_ALL);
ini_set('display_errors','On');
$currentDir = dirname(__FILE__);

[code]...
