Show me the content of your linux live cd running linux with it. (The thing is we are using a live USB, is it possible with a usb, how to do it, otherwise I tell everyone to burn a live CD, if it is possible with a live CD and not with a USB (= normally not loaded in bios in windows usb = plug&play).

I configured it to use IMAP to access our exchange 2010 server front end on a LAN connection. Our webmail connection is segregated behind Forefront, so it was not connecting/authing that way. Even though smartphones have no problem. (sidenote, is there an activesync linux mail client ?)
I have many root folders and several folders underneath my inbox. total mailsize in inbox is 3.5 GB without subfolders. The sent is likewise as large. And is likewise empty.

I want to only search main tarball and delete it if older than 7 days.

EDIT: I realise there's crontab -l but that just echoes out the contents of the crontab file. I'd like somehow to get a countdown.

Details :
I have used Debian Live versions for a while now without any major problem. After switching from Mate Live 8.2 to Mate Live 8.3, I am almost unable to use Iceweasel due to the following problems :
- much slower browsing overall with regular timeouts (the page's layout or some ads often fail to load)
- random content encoding errors (the grey page similar to SSL related errors)
- random non-latin characters or strange strings (like ""q5"&2>html34") appearing along a page's content
Reloading the same page may (or not) fix the issue : it is random, sometimes it displays correctly (but still very slow) other times it gets worse.
Even when many encoding errors are displayed, if I check the page's source code then it appears to be clean.
I have not changed my usual settings and both the OS and Iceweasel are in vanilla state without any 3rd party add-on or package installed.
I doubt it is hardware related since switching back to 8.2 immediatly solves the issue. The 8.3 support seems ok too because I verified the md5 of all files with success.

I have burned the Linux Mint 8 "Helena" iso image to a CD no problem but when i try to run the "Live CD" a login box appears and no matter what i do i keep getting "Authentication Failure"?So i can't proceed running the "Live CD".Could someone help me out here please and tell me what i am doing wrong. I just want to run the "Live CD" before i decide whether to install the OS to the hard drive.

So i tried finding it in the boot list before windows starts and i only find windows there, no CD. I then tried installing the software that comes on the disk to help if the cd won't boot, and that fails when nearly done giving me some "invalid argument" notice..

View 7 Replies View RelatedAfter some difficulty I got MoBlock and Mobloquer installed on my Ubuntu 10.10 live USB. Lists all updated perfectly, and I made sure that HTTP and FTP traffic are not allowed. All's going well, still it shows nothing under the "Logs" tab, and under the "Manage" tab, "Number of blocked connections: " is still 0. MoBlock is "up and running". Now I did some browsing as a test, cuz I'm pretty used to Peer Guardian on Windows, and I know that by now it should have blocked quite a lot of stuff. Should I have "No time stamping" checked, cuz in the "Blockcontrol log", whilst struggling to get it working, it said that "notimestamp" was a depreciated feature.. or some thing like that anyway. It still shows nothing under the "Logs" tab, and it shows "no blocked connections under the "Manage" tab still.

When I run the installer, and choose the "manual select partitons" option, it lists only my full hardisk, whereas I have atleast 5 partitions on it, and none are shown. Could anybody help me with this? I want to install on one of the partitions and leave the rest intact. I am dual-booting BTW.

View 3 Replies View RelatedJust got back to attempting to play with 10.04 using its Live CD. It consistently goes to the "Log In" page and not the Live CD page on running. I saw a Post specifying a F key to be pressed on boot-up to get to the desired starting point some time ago, but did not write it down. Some advice did say press Any Key but this does not seem to do the job. Tried to use the search function here but no joy. Can anyone remember which F key? Note that as a check, I tried to use 9.10 Live CD and this worked fine, so it is not a machine problem.

I have ran various versions of Fedora for the last few years, and sporadically, the Samba gui and samba itself have had such problems. My current problem in Fedora 11 (64bit) is that samba doesn't seem to be running correctly. It is allowing the hosting of shares, but it does not show that it is running in the services gui. It shows enabled, but when I attempt to change it by starting or stopping, nothing happens. The samba gui also shows that it launches but then never actually starts. I saw very similar problems with Fedora 9.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've been asked to create a Linux build which will contain open source vmview. Simple enough, but I would like to have this deployed onto different desktops from an imaging server using multicasting, we use Symantec Solution Suite 2.5 therefore the smaller the image the better for us. I would also like the image to be fully manageable i.e log in and add / remove apps etc but all it will need is a user account, a root account, web browser, rdesktop and vmware view open client.
I have gone down two routes:
1. There are Live-CD's out there that can do the important things that I want which is to use vmware view and I do like the fact that it is compatible with all our current hardware so I am happy to use this for the time being but I hate the fact that we have to boot it from CD as we have quite a few PCs in the room. I would like to convert the distro to boot from HDD exactly as you would from a CD but cannot seem to find a solution to this.
2. I have created a Debian and a OpenSuse build which does exactly what I want albeit taking a bit more disk space than I would like, but my issue is how do I capture and deploy this to different hardware as our imaging server only does cloning.
I'm going to create either a live CD or USB to demo Ubuntu on my Intel Mac Mini. I'd be doing this only to test one piece of software under Linux.
Is it possible to run the software from my live CD or USB just as I would running Linux (thus, without the need for the software to be installed on a HD)? If so, where do I need to save the software file(s) when creating my live CD or USB?

Problem is, for some reason windows XP won't recognize the harddrive at all.More importantly, when I boot from a Ubuntu live CD, it doesn't seem to recognize the harddrive. Or at least, there is no entry in /etc/fstab like /dev/hda (hdb,c,d) I have tried different Live CD's (ubuntu, knoppix)... How can I get the Linux liveCD to recognize the drive?
