I am receving emails from logwatch but when I setup my own mail script using mutt, the script succeeds but no email is received.Any ideas what the difference is between the two mail methods?

The senario of mine is I fetch some emails from a mail server into my local linux box with fetchmail command but I want each fetched mail in a different indivitual file for easy file processing and manipulation for example sending those email through sms and so on

We have configured autossh successfully to create/manage the ssh tunnel into mail server in order to dump all emails to localhost port.
To auto start autossh in boot time we have included following into /etc/rc.d/rc.local,

So whenever our web application wants to send out emails it dump all emails to localhost:33465 port, easy piecy, all are working great
Now we have a requirement that logwatch reports should get delivered via the same ssh tunnel rather than installing postfix and configuring as a relay.
In logwatch is there a way to achieve that?

Yesterday I received a mail from LQ informing me about a reply to a thread named "operating system linux".
I am not able to open, delete, edit that mail.
I have ubuntu 10.04 on my HP Compaq laptop, and use evolution mail. Is there a way to delete an attachment I received, while keeping the rest of the body of that mail?

I have a server, running Centos 5.5. It runs daily rkhunter and logwatch. From both I get a daily mail.
I have a desktop computer, running Fedora 13 (almost 14...). It runs also a daily rkhunter and logwatch. But I get ONE mail from logwatch, which contains the result of rkhunter.
On the server, I want also only mail from logwatch, containing the rkhunter results. But so far, no luck.
How can I get the rkhunter results in the logwatch mail on my Centos server?
My ISP blocks outgoing email if it does not login properly with a valid account. I successfully configured sendmail to use SMART_HOST and confAUTH_OPTIONS with confAUTH_MECHANISM set to LOGIN PLAIN.
It successfully sends email because I tested it with evolution sending through 127.0.0.1, but I need to specify myacount@mydomain.com as the email address for root.
But it doesn't work for logwatch because it sends as from root@localhost.localdomain, and my ISP's smtp server rejects it. The message I get back in root@localhost account is the following:

I thought that I should masquerade all emails from this domain, so I configured sendmail as specified in [1] section "24.3.1.4. Masquerading", but it doesn't work. It seems that masquerading in sendmail is broken or something is wrong in the documentation.

I have sendmail 8.13.8-2 and centos-release-5-4.el5.centos.1.
Is there a way to specify the "From:myacount@mydomain.com" in logwatch ? or Is there a way to make it work the masquerading in sendmail so I can masquerade everything as coming from a specific account?
I installed and configured postfix per the guide on help.ubuntu.com. Everything seems to work fine with smtp and it says that my emails are being sent, but I never receive them.What could be causing this problem?The local mailbox shows that the email was sent.Mail.log shows that the message was delivered to the mailbox.
View 5 Replies View Relatedso my Evolution worked fine. I was able to send and receive messages. THen I switched my ISP from a local provider to Comcast. I did nothing to Evolution and now it won't send my emails. I still receive stuff fine. I am using GMail's SMTP server.

I am using Postfix on CentOS to send mail through a relayhost. The mail sends fine, but on certain clients such as the mail client on the iPhone or Windows Live Mail, the message is received with '(No Sender)' in the sender field. The Apple Mail client on the iMac works just fine.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI Install Mathematica 4.0 on Ubuntu 10.04 and fedora 13. When i create new notebook file and save it, Mathematica front end automatically disappear. It shows message "Mathematica has received the signal: SIGSEGV and has exited" on terminal. But this not happing on older Linux version such as suse enterprise desktop 10. if i first create aaa.nb file using vi editor i can open it with Mathematica front end and save it. but cannot do "save as option" and also cannot open edit-> preferences menu.

I am facing a issue that when I mail with the user sumit@linuxforfreshers.info then I am able to do it. But if somebody tries to send mail to the same user then it bounce backs. I had made the entry of domain in /etc/mail/local-host-name and also I put ok in /etc/mail/access.The mails are working properly with in LAN. how to extract only this mail from /var/mail/root
I have configured fetchmail, sendmail/postfix and mutt to act as a relay to receive mail. I can receive mail fine but I cannot send mail. Its working fine on my one box but on the one acting as a nat I am having issues. This is my mail log from the nat box.

My LAN has 2 PCs installed, Ubuntu 10.04 and Windows XP. I run the server on Ubuntu, and client on Windows XP. Because I am doing stress test, so the client will keep sending tons of packets to server.
The strange thing is: After few seconds, the client program crash because of insufficient network buffer, the server is still ok. But after that I cant connect Ubuntu PC anymore until I restart it. And I check the router, the led for the Ubuntu PC is always ON (not blinking), look like it is jam already.
