Yesterday I received a mail from LQ informing me about a reply to a thread named "operating system linux".
I am not able to open, delete, edit that mail.
I have ubuntu 10.04 on my HP Compaq laptop, and use evolution mail. Is there a way to delete an attachment I received, while keeping the rest of the body of that mail?

View 1 Replies View RelatedNot long ago I installed the Linux version of the Real Player (bad, bad me,I know) on my Debian Lenny system. Now Kmail will only open mp3 files attached to incoming mail with the Real Player.Outside of Kmail I have VLC set as my default player for mp3 files and that works fine but Kmail isn't respecting my system choices and I can't find any means, or reference to, changing the default media player in Kmail.This is so incredibly frustrating that it's almost like being stuck with a Windows system again.As a full-time Linux user I've lost my sense of martyred patience.

I installed and configured postfix per the guide on help.ubuntu.com. Everything seems to work fine with smtp and it says that my emails are being sent, but I never receive them.What could be causing this problem?The local mailbox shows that the email was sent.Mail.log shows that the message was delivered to the mailbox.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using KMail 1.13.7, and receiving mail works fine, but sending mail via SMTP through Gmail doesn't work. When I try to send email it give me "Transport 'Gmail.com' is invalid". I have tried deleting the account and recreating it to no avail, and I even tried changing smtp.gmail.com to smtp.googlemail.com, with the exact same error.

The problem is, that I would like to use KMail, but I've got to import the settings, mailbox etc. I made a backup through Evolution, wich ended up as a .tar.gz. I tried to open it though the KMail backup program. But it just won't load the mails or lettings. It just doesn't work. I tried Evolution 1.x backup end Evolution 2.x backup. Both didn't work.

For example - if I am using kmail for the account me@email.net and I have something from an irc chat or IM I need to keep for future reference (instructions for something, contact info for someone, etc.) I open a new blank email in kmail, address it to myself, copy in the info and hit send, but the message never arrives. I have previously used this method with Thunderbird and Evolution and it works in both of them just fine but does not ever work in kmail.

I am facing a issue that when I mail with the user sumit@linuxforfreshers.info then I am able to do it. But if somebody tries to send mail to the same user then it bounce backs. I had made the entry of domain in /etc/mail/local-host-name and also I put ok in /etc/mail/access.The mails are working properly with in LAN. But not able to work on WAN only I can send mail but not able to recieve mail.What else I need to do.
View 6 Replies View Relatedso my Evolution worked fine. I was able to send and receive messages. THen I switched my ISP from a local provider to Comcast. I did nothing to Evolution and now it won't send my emails. I still receive stuff fine. I am using GMail's SMTP server.

I don't see anyplace to include the port number like I could in Thunderbird so I have no idea what port I am using but the thing that is curious is that it doesn't work on Comcast when it did on both my local provider and Sprint's mobile broadband.

I am using KMail Version 1.13.5 and until recently i am no longer able to download or send mail without having to restart the app several times, when i have logged into my webmail, i can see that there is clearly mail there, but kmail doesnt see it. i use pop3 and smtp protocols and they have worked fine until now?

I've imported my contacts in adressbook and I can see them in Kontact - Adresses. But when I compose a new mail, I can't select any of my contacts. There is a combobox to select between following choices:
All
Default Adress book
Distribution list
recent adresses
Selected adresses
But none of these options shows the contacts I have imported. And I can't find an option to make my imported adress book the default adress book.
I want to delete all may mail root in command line and i don't find this... the command mail + "d" work fine but i want use it in a .sh
I explain too : I use fetchmail to have mail from a gmail box, and use RIPMIME to save the attachment in a folder... these work fine, but the i want delete these mails.

I am using Postfix on CentOS to send mail through a relayhost. The mail sends fine, but on certain clients such as the mail client on the iPhone or Windows Live Mail, the message is received with '(No Sender)' in the sender field. The Apple Mail client on the iMac works just fine.
Here is the PHP code I am using to send the mail code...
Wondering if there is a configuration setting in /etc/postfix/main.cf I can use to fix this problem. I have scoured the help files but have come up empty.

I've imported a vcard addressbook in kontact. When I create a new mail and start typing something in the "to" input field, no contacts are automatically added. When I click the "select" button, nothing is found, except for the recently added email addresses. Nothing from my imported addressbook though.
This also didn't work in opensuse 11.3 KDE. Am I doing something wrong here?
I'm getting this message in kmail. Anyone knows what this mean? what should I do?

View 2 Replies View Relatedi made a video and i wanted to put it on my myspace(video upload) and it justs fade to grey and becomes unresponive. that it goes back to normal but no progress. so then i tried going to image shack and uploading a picture. can't do that either. tried mediafire, videos, vimeo, nothing.
so i tried on my desktop(desktop running 9.10 32 bit. laptop(the first one i tried) running 9.10 64 bit. it didn't work on that either. i know it's not my isp because it works on my ps3(no ubuntu). not my firewall and tried without without my router. didn't work either. i tried upgrading flash on both of them and on my desktop i can upload some pictures to imageshack now. nothing else though. i have tried using both firefox and opera.
