Just wondering if it's possible to change the size of icons when Nautilus is in List View. I tried playing around with gtk-icon-sizes in the gtkrc file of my theme, but there doesn't seem to be a setting for it there. I could just zoom in/out, but when I have the icons the size I want them to be, the text is too small (see attachment).
View 4 RepliesI've looked in gconf-editor but there is no entry for Nautilus.Can't find anything in documentation either.For certain folders I want nice big file icons but zoom increments are so large. At one point I have 3 icons across with extra space on the side. So I want to increase a little. One increase makes it so big only one icon fill fit across.Where can I find this setting and just pop in whatever zoom level I'd like?

But whatever image I try (some PNG or even SVG files) I can't get them to be displayed. It seems there is a very special format, size, type to match the Gnome/GTK+/Nautilus icon requirements...
I like view file listings in Nautilus in the List View. By default the "Location" column is not visible and I have to set it to visible through "View -> Visible Columns" each time. Is there anyway to make the change permanent?
View 4 Replies View RelatedSo I've been trying to get my windows C: and D: partitions (mounted to /windows/C and /windows/D respectively) to show along side "Filesystem" and "Home Folder" in tree view on the left panel in Nautilus.
I know I can drag and drop any folder under the Places view mode, but I never use Places and prefer Tree view mode.
In gnome 2 we had the option in gconf-editor to use a compact layout when displaying icons in nautilus, it was essential to browse pictures, otherwise the thumbnails are spaced way too wide for nothing and you can't get enough of them in a screen.the option is not there in dconf, can we set it somewhere else?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm just curious as to if anybody has figured out a way to hack the ability to add a background and/or pattern for Nautilus while in List view. As it stands now, it won't work while in List view. Sadly, that's the only view I ever use, and so I always have the boring white background. I would love a brushed metal look or something.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI don't know if this is a known issue, but when I want to copy/move a file to a folder containing lots of sub-folder displayed as list, I can't do a simple drag&drop, because there is no empty space to move this file. It will always go into one of the sub-folders. So obviously I have to go up one folder or to change view from list to Icon or Compact. Is it a known issue? Is there a solution? (Using GNOME nautilus 2.30.1)
View 9 Replies View Relatedsome reason I lost my default icon sizes in Nautilus. This only appears to affect any graphic files like .jpg, .png, etc. that I keep in my "Pictures" folder. I also have this issue with video files that I keep in my "Video" folder.Currently I am running Ubuntu Natty and using the Ambiance theme that is customized with Faenznt icons. Nautilus is customized with Nautilus Elementary. Changing themes has no effect. The folders all appear normal and other icon file types appear normal, it's just my graphic d video files that are appearing small.Running dconf editor shows my icon setting is set to normal. I am enclosing a pic so you can see the folders display at a normal size, but the graphic files do not.

So now i have 2 questions:
1- How do i change the icon.
2- Do you have any good ideas for a icon.
I want to change the default size of the desktop icons, but 100% is too big, and 66% is too small. Without scaling every icon, is there a way that I can either change the preset percentages in "icon view defaults" or change the default icon size some other way?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI did an adjustment or two, and then it has been just been hanging up using 100% CPU when it is loaded. When an application uses it to save a document, it does not hang.I created a Templates folder and assigned it with the user-dirs.I then changed the view of that particular directory from LIST to ICONS.And then it started to hang up.Somehow I was able to change the view back to LIST, but it still hangs up.

If I try smb://server, it doesn't show any shares, but I can browse directly to it such as smb://server/share1. If I use smbclient, it returns the list of shares correctly. I guess I just don't understand why smbclient shows the list of shared folders, but nautilus cannot.

So I tried it out and everything went fine.I switched back to the Desktop environment and noticed that the widget on my desktop, which normally shows the items of my desktop folder,changed into an icon I have to click first before I can see the content.I rather have it as if was when I installed Kubuntu.

It happens when I run nautilus as root too.Typing "ls -la" in the home folder will cause the term to freeze. Neither "ls -a" or "ls -l" by themselves cause it to freeze The freezing only happens in ~ to my knowledge.The freezing terminal also ONLY happens in xterm, inside gnome. Through ssh I can display the folder contents just fine, and I don't see any strange file names that might be causing an issue.I tried following advice I found, I believe on this site, to "rm -rf ~/.gvfs"I feel that I may e overwritten a fedora-specific library somewhere when trying to compile different things. I don't recall this being an issue immediately after upgrading from fc10 to fc12, though it could have conceivably gone unnoticed.

I like all the icons except for a few, specifically the trash, and would like to change them but I can't figure out how. I d/l an empty and full trash icon. I looked in the /home/username/.icons/themename folder and found the two trash icons that came with the theme (they were in ~/.icons/themename/scalable/places). Changed the names of the ones I d/l and replaced those current ones with them.how to do this? I would also like to change the Menu Bar icon back to the gnome foot.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI just upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04 LTS from 9.10 and the icon that lets me view and choose wireless networks to connect to has mysteriously disappeared. I did the whole "Add to Panel" thing and added the "Network Connections" icon to my task bar, but for all the searching through that and other things like System -> Preferences -> Startup Applications, I just can't find a solution! The Network Preferences still has the list of all the wireless networks I have connected to in the past. It still connects to my home network automatically (although I did have to delete another neighboring network from the Network Preferences list so it only has one auto connection to connect to). So where in the world did my icon go? It was so great. Left click to see all local wireless networks and to connect. Right click to turn off networking or wireless.
