General :: Can't Uninstall Kde - Arch - Error: Failed To Prepare Transaction
Dec 14, 2010
I need to uninstall kde fom pacman so I do this: When I go to "pacman -R kde" it says "checking dependencies" Then "error: failed to prepare transaction (could not satisfy dependencies) ":: kdeplasma-addons-libs: requires kdebase-workspace" So how do I fix this so that I can uninstall kde?
error: failed to init transaction(unable to lock database)if you're sure a package manager is not already running, you can remove /var/lib/pacman/db.lck and there was the same error when i try to install a package. I recently did a full system update could that be the problem?
I'm using fedora 15, when I updated the os through software update application in it, I got an error as shown in the figure. Actually I had installed some missing plugins and I set up free and non-free rpm repository through the kernel, based on the information given on the below site.! Personal Fedora 15 Installation Guide. Guess that might have done some damages to the RPM Fusion non-free repository.!
I was trying to update my Fedora 15 amd64 when a Error Notification popped up saying "An unspecified TRANSACTION ERROR has occured". More details: "could not add package update for fedora-release-rawhide-15-3(noarch)updates: fedora-release-rawhide-15-3.noarch".
I installed fedora 12 today...installation went fine. Tried to run the software update ( which includes 415 fixes) and got the following
Transaction error:- an unspecified transaction error has occurred. More information is available in the following report.
More details show:- could not add package update for abrt-plugin-runpp-1.0.4-1fc12(i686)updates:abrt-plugin-runapp-1.0.4-1.fc12.i686
I have unchecked the box in the update list to be installed, but the software update insists that this update is needed. I cannot progress any further than this error message..
I can't my system because of this error: Code: linux-firmware: /lib/firmware/radeon/R700_rlc.bin exists in filesystem Note that in the beginning, it asks:
Code: :: Replace kernel26-firmware with core/linux-firmware? [Y/n] There are so many updates by now that the list fills in a few pages in the terminal! Also, I wonder why so many Arch updates get stuck or broken compared to almost any other distro? Is it poorly designed packages? Is it a design flaw in pacman/the package format?
I'm having problems loading compiz-fusion or the settings with my nvidia driver, or driver itself. Basically, I installed Arch (in vmware) then ran: pacman -Syu, pacman -S libgl xorg mesa xf86-video-vesa hal xf86-input-evdev xf86-input-mouse xf86-input-keyboard compiz-fusion alsa alsa-util nvidia I've also added a user. I'm following the wiki guide but I'm not sure where to go from here. here's the error messages:
[URL]
basically it says that my nvidia driver is incorrect or isn't configured properly. I have an Nvidia 7300gt btw, does anybody know which driver I should be using? [URL] This one should work, I'm not sure what I'm doing incorrectly. it still says $DISPLAY not set when I type startx/ccsm/fusion-icon. And alos when I run pacman -S nvidia, is it downloading version 195.36.24? [URL]

I've used fetchmail for quite a while now and never had a problem, until (without having changed anything) today it suddenly quit working, giving me the error message:
fetchmail: connection to localhost:smtp [127.0.0.1/25] failed: Connection refused. fetchmail: SMTP connect to localhost failed fetchmail: SMTP transaction error while fetching from stefan%mydomain.com@mail.mydomain.com and delivering to SMTP host localhost fetchmail: Query status=10 (SMTP)
I googled the error message, but didn't find anything that look promising. I use ubuntu 10.4.
There was a problem updating the system. The following error message was reported:
Failed to build transaction: 1:kmod-nvidia-2.6.35.14-95.fc14.i686-280.13-2.fc14.i686 requires kernel-uname-r = 2.6.35.14-95.fc14.i686
If the problem persists, manual intervention may be required. Thank You, Your Computer
I'm not sure what to do. I can add --skip-broken but that's not going to solve the problem. uname = Linux 2.6.35.13-92.fc14.i686. I'm guessing it's because I'm -92 and it's wanting -95 but if that's the case - where's my yum'ed 95?
I don't know were this goes so I'm just gonna put it here Basically earlier today i figured i wanted to try out backtrack 4 but I could only have a maximum of 4 partitions on an hd at a time. So i deleted my partition that contained my arch home directory (didn't really have any data on it and i figured i could just make a new one later) to create an extended partition to put backtrack on. Well all went well except now when I select arch instead of backtrack i get a disk check error. This is the first part of the error, I can't exactly copy and paste it as its on my laptop. code...
recently I'va bought PCI adapter for extending ATA devices [URL], connected disk (WDC WD1600JB-00REA0, ATA DISK drive). Everything is fine except switching off. Sometimes it freezes, sometimes it takes longer time (more than 30 sec). Everything goes well - except the last step (when appears "Rebooting", or "Switching off" on console). I didn't add any extra boot option into /boot/grub/menu.lst
I am using sda1 as /, which is a bootable drive. I do not know if my problem is that I did not create a /boot drive. After removing the iso dvd, I tried to reboot and I get this back: -bash: /sbin/reboot: input/output error Then it returns me to the terminal prompt.
I am runing debian-5 (lenny), the default kernel 2.6.26 was unable to start the x so i installed the new kernel linux-image-2.6.32-5-686_2.6.32-28_i386.deb, now x works, but there is problem building modules for the intel soft modem linux driver hsfmodem-7.60.00.00oem which is supplied in the modem cd by the intel company.
I installed these kernel packages for this purpose: linux-base_2.6.32-28_all.deb linux-image-2.6.32-5-686_2.6.32-28_i386.deb linux-headers-2.6.32-5-486_2.6.32-28_i386.deb
[code]....
in all these cases hsfconfig failed with the above error,
I just did the pacman -Syu command today since i have had limited access to internet i could use with arch lately, (been tethering via droid which is only compatible in ubuntu) The command line works fine, i even reinstalled X to see if that was the problem, whenever i do startx it loads up for a second but before my xfce screen even pops up the screen blinks and blackens.
When the RPM runs it come up with this error. How do I install the required dependencies? I have added more repositories, but still there are a few dependencies missing. Is there a zypper/sudo -get or something available? Opensuse 11.1 Gnome
I have a 2009 Mac Pro with two CPUs and 8 GB of memory which is totally overpowered for Mac OS X. I am also in the process of slowly moving away from Mac OS X as my main platform.Since the Mac Pro is really new and nice I have finally decided to use it for another platform. I am familiar with Linux and SUSE Linux.Ultimately I want to run some version of SUSE Linux (recommend one, doesn't have to be free as in no money) and Xen.
i am new(fresher) for Linux Platform. i want to prepare for Red-hat Certification so Please tell me that how can i prepare to it & Please give me Exam dumps.
It has been working until this. I shouldn't think that I need both the 586 and the 64 versions, but it won't let me get rid of the 586 version. Trying to do that results in:
Code:
Is trying to remove kdelibs-6:4.4.1-1.fc11.i586 what I should be doing? Or am I being dense?
I have fedora 12 dual boot windows/ xp on intel d845gvsr intel motherboard, intel celeron processor 2 ghz, inbuilt board graphics, 1 gb ddr1 RAM. I get this notification that updates available and when I try to download it it fails and I get the following error. Transaction error. "could not add package update for abrt-plugin-runapp-1.0.8-2.fc12(i686)updates: abrt-plugin-runapp-1.0.8-2.fc12.i686"
Code: DBus error : Unable to get transaction id from packagekit. Then it asked if i will start YaST and install the updates manual and i then took OK and this came up?
Code: DBus error : Unable to get transaction id from packagekit.
After an udate I get this error message: DBus error : Unable to get transaction id from packagekit. This error also shows when I click the yellow triangle. When I start the manual update this shows:

It seems some shell is not there anymore. What to do?
I switched from Ubuntu to Fedora and I'm having a little bit of trouble understanding why I cannot update my system. Fedora seems to be a little bit more complicated than Ubuntu to update and to do other things... I'm still willing to try it because it has a good reputation and good reviews so I will go ahead and give it a shot but before I do that I need to update it. I have an HP pavilion notebook dv2000. Just installed Fedora 15 and my system is telling me that I have over 700 updates! when I click on install updates I get an error:
Transaction error An unspecified transaction error has occurred. More information is available on the detailed report. Then on the details this is what I get:
Ok. Using Release 12 Constantine Gnome 2.28. Whenever I try to update my computer via de Software Update Manager that pops up every now and then I get an error and the Software Update fails.
The error says its a repository not found, but I am very new at this and have no clue as to where to fix this. Alongside of this, is the fact that since one of the updates is failing, the rest don't install either. So the updates keep on piling.
This is the error shown in the More Details window:
