View 2 Replies View RelatedI am running fedora 11 with kde version 4.4 amarok 2.2.2 and xine 2.6. I have xine-lib-extras-freeworld installed from rpm fusion. Amarok will refuse to play mp3 files, however M4A files work just fine.
I initially thought that the xine-lib-extras-nonfree was required for mp3 playback but it seems that my laptop which is f11 kde 4.3 and amarok 2.2.1 does not have this installed and works just fine.
When attempting to play an mp3 in gxine it throws this error: "No demuxer found - stream format not recognised."
I have a problem with Amarok. I did a yum update today (which completed ok) but now I cannot play music from Amarok. Rather, it appears as if it is playing but no sound is coming out of the speakers. Other players (xmms, mplayer, xine) are all working fine. A quick note is that on starting up, there is a message that "Phonon: KDE's multimedia library The audio playback device PulseAudio sound server does not work. falling back to." A google search shows that I may need to configure amarok to output sound using something like Alsa. Which is fine, I have alsa installed:
Code:
[arthur@platypus ~]$ rpm -qa | grep alsa
alsa-plugins-pulseaudio-1.0.21-2.fc12.i686
alsa-lib-1.0.21-3.fc12.i686
bluez-alsa-4.58-1.fc12.i686
alsa-utils-1.0.21-2.fc12.i686
[arthur@platypus ~]$
but Amarok only displays pulse audio as the only output device! Whats going on please? Am on Fedora 12, Amarok 2.2.1 with xine backend.
I'm using 11.2 KDE4.3.1 x86-64 final,my Amarok Version 2.1.1 (Using KDE 4.3.1 (KDE 4.3.1) "release 6") not playing any mp3 song.

But the first ~15 seconds of every song are really lagging, the rest of the song sounds fine. I tried to set it to an external MySQL database, but then all my music disappears.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI can hear system sounds and the test sound. But I cant hear any sound from either kscd or amarock. Both show themselves "playing" but there is no sound from the speakers. I know my hardware is ok cos it all works under Windows XP. I have opened kmix and unmuted every thing and put the sliders to max ...but nothing. Im using suse 11.1 64bit
One thing ...I cant set "Direct Digital Playback" in kscd. If I do the the CD vanishes from the CD player. Ejecting and reloading the CD doesnt make it visible again.
I can post the file containing the hardware information from yast ..but its 700kb
I get sound if Im looking at a video in Firefox
I just started using fedora 13 and would like to know how to set Amarok as your default music player.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I attach my MP3 player (a Sony S series Walkman), Amarok crashes. It is a problem with libmtp, but I don't know how to resolve it. The player can connect as mass storage or mtp (note that connection mode is not selectable on the device), but Amarok automatically claims it as mtp and promptly crashes, if I connect the player without Amarok running and mount it as mass storage then start Amarok, it still claims it as MTP, crashes and blocks the device so it is no longer accessible as anything. I would just uninstall libmtp as I have no use for it, but Amarok requires it. The options as I see them: 1) get a version of libmtp that doesn't screw up with this device 2) stop Amarok claiming mtp devices (no settings for this - anything in config file?) 3) stop linux recognising this as an mtp capable device so Amarok doesn't try to claim it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm struggling to find a way to sync my media player (Sony W995 - it just appears as a disk when plugged in, so it should be OK I think). I can kind of get something working by adding the mount point as a 'Local Music' folder. The problem is, there doesn't seem to be a way of 'syncing' to Local folders. Further more, my music collection is in FLAC format on my PC - but I need to transcode it to mp3 when syncing with my media player. Is this possible? I don't expect to be syncing the other way at all.
Otherwise, I'm stuck with manually transcoding/copying files with Dolphin
I am having a few problems concerning my mp3 player: (I thought a long time about posting this in the hardware section, but in the end it comes down to the fact that this is still an mp3 player - I know it's still piece of hardware - which indicates that's it is some sort of music device... doesn't matter)
1. The system somehow doesn't recognize it and doesn't handle it the way it handles external hard drives. However, the device is recognized by amarok. How do I change this circumstance or if this is normal, why?
2. How do I synchronize music to it, using Amarok?
I have tried linux before but I never found one that suited me. I'm now trying kubuntu 10.04 on my mini laptop but I have run into a problem. I have sounds when the computer start and shutdown and other sounds like incoming mail and stuff just not in amarok or any other media player at all nor on ..... and I've been googling it for the last few days and have found others with simular problems but none running Kubuntu 10.04 so I figured I'd give the solutions they got a try but I just can't get them to work on my computer. Might be my lack of linux skill so please go eazy on me and yes I have checked that the audio is not muted. Which codec pack to be installed and how to do it.

I searched around the net for some solution and tried opening the VCD through the terminal to no avail. I tried switching to the Movie Player but it's the same. I am trying to burn a video DVD created from "Devede" with K3B. The video DVD successfully burns, and plays in my computer, but does not play in any of the DVD players in the house. I used to user "ConvertXToDVD" when I was on Windows, but am trying to find a free/open source alternative on ubuntu. I am using all default options. I have looked in the settings for both programs, and I fail to see the problem here. Even the ISO created from devede seems to match up to the Video DVD (that works in the players) I had burned with ConvertXToDVD.
In Devede I have it so that the menu is disabled and it automatically plays the first title. Apparently this is not good enough.. I thought this program was supposed to be easy to use? What am I doing wrong here? I am using the same DVD-R I have used before on my Windows machine to great success. I am getting frustrated as I have went through 2 DVDs,
i use Ubuntu Lucid Lynx, 10.04 64bit I recently updated ALSA Drivers to the latest ones.. (Still the problem described bellow exists) This is my ALSA Information from the script. [URL]
When ever i'm playing a file in any player, Rhythmbox, Exaile, Totem... and i mean a sound file, i can't listen to my 5.1. Actually... when ever i choose from Sound Preferences -> Output -> Profile: 5.1 I can listen to the Bass kicking, and all my speakers works. Now, when i change manually the song, or automatically... or even when i Stop and then Start again the playback, i loose the Bass and not all my speakers works as intended. When i go to Output Profile again, 5.1 it's still selected. I have to change back to something else, like 4.1 or stereo and then back to 5.1 so the Bass and all speakers work again as they should.
I have had MASSIVE problems with media-players. None of the ones I tried have been working flawlessly. They end up hanging and not playing my music after a little while. My 35gb music library is originally an itunes library from OS X, copied to the ntfs partition of my netbook (low specs - 1 gb ram, 1,66ghz atom).
I have tried Exaile, Rhythmbox and Banshee (which I liked the most) from the EB4 repos, but none of them works to a level I can agree with. So I was wondering if anyone either has ideas as to how I can make any of the above players work perfectly or what other players I should try out?

Ok so a brief description. The comp initially had an ATI Radeon X1600 card I removed because it was giving more trouble than it was worth. I'll add it later if there is a chance it might make things batter. (NB the computer was painfully slow with the card installed... runs faster without it)
I installed the restricted formats pakage as per the instructions found at: [URL]
So I installed the ubuntu-restricted-extras package and then ran:
sudo /usr/share/doc/libdvdread4/install-css.sh
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras
in the terminal.
Now here is what happens. The DVD plays as I can hear it but the screen is black. moving the screen i'll get glimpses of video but not much. This happens in MOvie PLayer and in VLC. However with VLC by moving it around and going full screen I manage to get the video component working as well.
I have installed debian squeeze, and upgraded to latest kernel (by compiling the source). This is to get support of my new Intel DH67CL motherboard.have fantastic display 1920x1080, and debian detected all of the hardware. It plays sound, ..... videos etc. But whenever I try to open an avi file though movie player or vlc the desktop freezes. I could move the mouse pointer, but no reaction to clicks. I can change to terminal by Alt+Ctrl+F1, and then has to reboot. How to troubleshoot this
