View 8 RepliesI've just installed Fedora 13 and so far it's been pretty painless. But i am having some issue with dragon player. I beleive i have all of the multimedia stuff installed properly. But i am getting no video or sound from dragon player. stuff plays fine in vlc.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently installed Kubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx. It is working well, but Movie Player does not work, and Dragon Player plays videos/movies but with no audio. VLC works fine. how to either remove Movie Player and Dragon Player or make them work. I tried apt-get remove mplayer but that doesn't work. If not that, I wonder if the default media player can be changed to VLC, e.g., when you click any video it will start to play using VLC?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI run lucid. I already have installed Medibuntu and the package libdvdcss2. Nevertheless, I still can't get DragonPlayer to play a DVD properly. Indeed, Dragon starts to play the DVD. However, the image is distorted and you can't recognize anything... This is what the terminal messages say when I start Dragon over the terminal:
Code:
norma@norma:~$ dragon --play-dvd /media/cdrom0/

View 3 Replies View RelatedThis is the first time I tried playing a VCD on my laptop and when I tried playing it on VLC, it indicated that an error, that it cannot read the file. I searched around the net for some solution and tried opening the VCD through the terminal to no avail. I tried switching to the Movie Player but it's the same. They play the initial 'Warning on illegal copying of the film, etc.' which lasts for about 15 seconds but after that, it won't play at all.

I am trying to burn a video DVD created from "Devede" with K3B. The video DVD successfully burns, and plays in my computer, but does not play in any of the DVD players in the house. I used to user "ConvertXToDVD" when I was on Windows, but am trying to find a free/open source alternative on ubuntu. I am using all default options. I have looked in the settings for both programs, and I fail to see the problem here. Even the ISO created from devede seems to match up to the Video DVD (that works in the players) I had burned with ConvertXToDVD.
In Devede I have it so that the menu is disabled and it automatically plays the first title. Apparently this is not good enough.. I thought this program was supposed to be easy to use? What am I doing wrong here? I am using the same DVD-R I have used before on my Windows machine to great success. I am getting frustrated as I have went through 2 DVDs,
i use Ubuntu Lucid Lynx, 10.04 64bit I recently updated ALSA Drivers to the latest ones.. (Still the problem described bellow exists) This is my ALSA Information from the script. [URL]
When ever i'm playing a file in any player, Rhythmbox, Exaile, Totem... and i mean a sound file, i can't listen to my 5.1. Actually... when ever i choose from Sound Preferences -> Output -> Profile: 5.1 I can listen to the Bass kicking, and all my speakers works. Now, when i change manually the song, or automatically... or even when i Stop and then Start again the playback, i loose the Bass and not all my speakers works as intended. When i go to Output Profile again, 5.1 it's still selected. I have to change back to something else, like 4.1 or stereo and then back to 5.1 so the Bass and all speakers work again as they should.
I have had MASSIVE problems with media-players. None of the ones I tried have been working flawlessly. They end up hanging and not playing my music after a little while. My 35gb music library is originally an itunes library from OS X, copied to the ntfs partition of my netbook (low specs - 1 gb ram, 1,66ghz atom).
I have tried Exaile, Rhythmbox and Banshee (which I liked the most) from the EB4 repos, but none of them works to a level I can agree with. So I was wondering if anyone either has ideas as to how I can make any of the above players work perfectly or what other players I should try out?
whenever i try to watch something on ..... and than i switch tabs for a moment. videos player becomes all gray. it happens on other video hosting sites to. what can be the cause or how to diagnose it

Ok so a brief description. The comp initially had an ATI Radeon X1600 card I removed because it was giving more trouble than it was worth. I'll add it later if there is a chance it might make things batter. (NB the computer was painfully slow with the card installed... runs faster without it)
I installed the restricted formats pakage as per the instructions found at: [URL]
So I installed the ubuntu-restricted-extras package and then ran:
sudo /usr/share/doc/libdvdread4/install-css.sh
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras
in the terminal.
Now here is what happens. The DVD plays as I can hear it but the screen is black. moving the screen i'll get glimpses of video but not much. This happens in MOvie PLayer and in VLC. However with VLC by moving it around and going full screen I manage to get the video component working as well.
I have installed debian squeeze, and upgraded to latest kernel (by compiling the source). This is to get support of my new Intel DH67CL motherboard.have fantastic display 1920x1080, and debian detected all of the hardware. It plays sound, ..... videos etc. But whenever I try to open an avi file though movie player or vlc the desktop freezes. I could move the mouse pointer, but no reaction to clicks. I can change to terminal by Alt+Ctrl+F1, and then has to reboot. How to troubleshoot this

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm looking for a music player that has the functionality of Windows Media Player. That is, a player that would search for music all over the file system (like Picasa does for images), and would work conveniently with folder structure - so I would drag an entire folder into the window and the player would create a playlist of it. I have Ubuntu, if it matters.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI tried playing a DVD several times and each time, after opening in Movie Player on Ubuntu 9.10, it froze up, I forced quit and then I noticed a huge reduction in free disk space on my root (/) directory. Has this happened to anyone else?I figure I Movie Player probably saved some temp files somewhere on hard disk and wasn't able to clean them up since I had to force quit. Any thoughts about how to clean this up and take back that previously free space?

I initially thought that the xine-lib-extras-nonfree was required for mp3 playback but it seems that my laptop which is f11 kde 4.3 and amarok 2.2.1 does not have this installed and works just fine.
When attempting to play an mp3 in gxine it throws this error: "No demuxer found - stream format not recognised."
I am having a problem with Fedora 11 not playing CD/DVD in any of the players. It errors out saying I need some kind of plugin.
