I can hear system sounds and the test sound. But I cant hear any sound from either kscd or amarock. Both show themselves "playing" but there is no sound from the speakers. I know my hardware is ok cos it all works under Windows XP. I have opened kmix and unmuted every thing and put the sliders to max ...but nothing. Im using suse 11.1 64bit
One thing ...I cant set "Direct Digital Playback" in kscd. If I do the the CD vanishes from the CD player. Ejecting and reloading the CD doesnt make it visible again.
I can post the file containing the hardware information from yast ..but its 700kb
When I attach my MP3 player (a Sony S series Walkman), Amarok crashes. It is a problem with libmtp, but I don't know how to resolve it. The player can connect as mass storage or mtp (note that connection mode is not selectable on the device), but Amarok automatically claims it as mtp and promptly crashes, if I connect the player without Amarok running and mount it as mass storage then start Amarok, it still claims it as MTP, crashes and blocks the device so it is no longer accessible as anything. I would just uninstall libmtp as I have no use for it, but Amarok requires it. The options as I see them: 1) get a version of libmtp that doesn't screw up with this device 2) stop Amarok claiming mtp devices (no settings for this - anything in config file?) 3) stop linux recognising this as an mtp capable device so Amarok doesn't try to claim it.
I'm struggling to find a way to sync my media player (Sony W995 - it just appears as a disk when plugged in, so it should be OK I think). I can kind of get something working by adding the mount point as a 'Local Music' folder. The problem is, there doesn't seem to be a way of 'syncing' to Local folders. Further more, my music collection is in FLAC format on my PC - but I need to transcode it to mp3 when syncing with my media player. Is this possible? I don't expect to be syncing the other way at all.
Otherwise, I'm stuck with manually transcoding/copying files with Dolphin
I am having a few problems concerning my mp3 player: (I thought a long time about posting this in the hardware section, but in the end it comes down to the fact that this is still an mp3 player - I know it's still piece of hardware - which indicates that's it is some sort of music device... doesn't matter)
1. The system somehow doesn't recognize it and doesn't handle it the way it handles external hard drives. However, the device is recognized by amarok. How do I change this circumstance or if this is normal, why? 2. How do I synchronize music to it, using Amarok?
I have tried linux before but I never found one that suited me. I'm now trying kubuntu 10.04 on my mini laptop but I have run into a problem. I have sounds when the computer start and shutdown and other sounds like incoming mail and stuff just not in amarok or any other media player at all nor on ..... and I've been googling it for the last few days and have found others with simular problems but none running Kubuntu 10.04 so I figured I'd give the solutions they got a try but I just can't get them to work on my computer. Might be my lack of linux skill so please go eazy on me and yes I have checked that the audio is not muted. Which codec pack to be installed and how to do it.
For the last few releases, I've remained with Amarok 1.4, but now that I've deemed Amarok 2 stable enough, I've upgrade, however, the lyrics to my songs (which I put in a lot of effort in downloading), are not reflecting. Is there anyway to export lyrics from Amarok 1.4 and import them in Amarok 2?
I'm getting no sound from amarok. I been trying different things like mp3's and internet radio, updating packages, even choosing gstreamer (xine by default) but no go.
I found that I need to do sudo apt-get install libxine1-ffmpeg.But when I do that It finishes with an EULA that I cannot say ok to, the only thing I can do is exit the terminal and I believe that is preventing the libxine1 package from finishing the install.I cannot play audio in any of the programs that come with ubuntu either.
After upgrading my Lenovo T61 to openSUSE 11.2 (64 bit)/KDE 4.3.1.playing mp3/Internet radio (Last.fm) or DVDs using VLC works fine. When trying to play mp3s/Last.fm with Amarok 2.1.1 or when trying to play DVDs using LinDVD there is no sound at all although each player appears to be processing each of the media correctly. When testing sound output with the Amarok settings (backend Xine) I get test sound output with these device types
- HDA Intel (AD198xAnalog) - Pulse Audio
But none with
- HDA Intel (AD198xDigital) - HDA Intel, AD198x Digital(IEC (S/PDIF) Digital Video Output).
Could it be that some other sound server, such as ALSA etc is blocking/competing with the audio hardware? How do I get Amarok/LinDVD to output sound?
Sound is working fine-- I can test my sound card in YAST and get sound when I play audio or video files using kaffine. But when I try to use amarok or banshee I get only silence, even when I just try to play system sounds.
If I run Amarok right after ubuntu starts, and then start a movie, there is no sound. It doesn't matter that the playback in Amarok is paused, stopped or active, there is no sound in the other player. Even if i exit Amarok, i don't get any sound. It is important to note that the other player is definitely a gnome application. I tried playing a song in Rhythmbox after Amarok was started, or play a video in Movie Player: no sound. I get sound from KDE video players, but the video doesn't work there, so that isn't an option. The only explanation i can think of, is that Amarok somehow "occupies" the sound drive, and it remains "occupied" even after the application was closed. Because if i start Movie Player before Amarok, this problem never appears.
the flac decoder in 11.1 Amarok Playing my CD rips (flac) in Amarok has issues with something like skips. little short dropouts in the sound. Using Suse 10.3 (still on the box) does not have this issue. System: Suse 11.1, KDE 3.5 recent install and update. 32 bit on 32 bit platform, old Athlon 2500+ Asus MB, 1 GB ram, two 120 GB internal, Audigy SC.
I have a weird problem where the playing any track from Amarok results in no sound being heard from the speakers. However, from everywhere else - YaST audio configuration, openSUSE startup, VLC, SMplayer et al - the sound is heard fine. I have no clue as to how I can go about fixing this. Hoping someone could assist me with this. I have a Dell Inspiron 1520. Here's the link to the output of alsa-info.sh: [URL] My Smolts system profile: Show Box my /var/log/messages keeps recording this:
I have 11.2 installed on a dual core 64 bit system. The sound works when I use Yast to look at the sound device and select "play test sound". I haven't gotten anything out of Amarok or SMPlayer. I followed the guide listed in other posts to update the system although I could not seem to solve all the dependences. When I use SMPlayer to play an MP3 file, I get a message saying that I am missing libdirectfb-1.1.so.0
I tried the following: Code: ldd /usr/bin/mplayer | grep libdirect libdirectfb-1.1.so.0 => not found This seems to be the only missing library. The interesting thing is that if I search my system for libdirect, I find that I have libdirectfb-1.2.so.0. Is this a newer rev or a different library because of my platform?
I've installed openSuse 11.3 recently and the sound card is ok because I can play audio with KsCD but there's no sound at all with any of the other players or browsers. Video now is ok after installing Packman Repository etc, but still no sound.
i'm on a ubuntu machine and i installed amarok, because i like it more than rhythmbox, so i configured the collection but the list doesn't show.. i click the option "update collection" but it does nothing i can play mp3 files if i right-click on them and open with amarok..., also when i'm using amarok i dont get sound on my web browsing lets say in ..... i get no sound. what can it be? by the way i'm using UBuntu not Kubuntu.
Play a song in Amarok and then press the space bar to pause. Press the space bar again to resume and Amarok starts playing again with the status bar moving and the timer counting down, but no sound. If I move to the next song, sound starts working again. Or if I double click on a different song, sound works. If I use the xine backend, the problem goes away. I'm using Amarok-2.4 and KDE 4.6.1.
I noticed after i fixed a problem with my skype microphone, that the speaker icon for the sound preferences has vanished. Also, there is no sound in my movie player and I cant turn the volume up or down. Its like the computer is set at one volume
Ever since I replaced my old Radeon HD 3850 AGP card with a Radeon HD 4830 PCIE one, Flash Player (v. 10.3.181.14) is a mess: - no hardware video acceleration (full screen playback unbelievably slow) - no audio
Only flash plugin is concerned; hardware video acceleration and audio seems to be present in other applications. (First skype also had no sound, but that could be set by selecting the onboard analog audio device instead of the default).
In this specific case, even yast is confused: I can configure the mobo audio device in it, but nothing else works in yast: no audible test sound, no possibility to set volume for the mobo audio device, as no volume controls are shown. (It may happen that yast "shows" the non-existing radeon hdaudio device controls, instead) Kmix is better: it shows both audio devices and all controls and all work (this means there are no controls for the radeon hdaudio device - but I do no miss them, as I do not want to use that device).
Is there a way to: - disable the radeon hd audio device so that linux get into a more friendy hardware environment? - is there a way to do this in linux (alsa)? (of course everything works in xp, this time, too)
I've just installed Fedora 13 and so far it's been pretty painless. But i am having some issue with dragon player. I beleive i have all of the multimedia stuff installed properly. But i am getting no video or sound from dragon player. stuff plays fine in vlc.
I have been reading over lots of forum postings, etc on getting the Sirius/XM Player to run on OpenSuse 11.2. I have installed the Firefox plug-in MediaPlayer that allows me to change the player for different types of streams. I have installed the kmplayer as well as the xine-lib and opensuse-codecs. I can bring up the player and then it will show a stream playing but I don't hear anything. I configured my MediaPlayer to have all streams go to the kmplayer.
