View 9 RepliesIn what directory do I need to install a tarball containing API libraries in order to import the libraries for programming?I've been trying for a few hours now to get started on my homework - but I need the GLUT api for OpenGL. After attempting to compile a simple test program, I got the error
Code:
glut.h: No such file or directory
First off, I'm not even really sure if OpenGL wasn't included in the original install or if I even need it when programming with GLUT (I truelly am clueless, lol). But after reading as much as I could, I've only been able to deduce that I need to install the API libraries somewhere on my disc.So I found the tarball, and there are special instructions for installing a linux machine. I found instructions saying to install it in the directory /usr/lib/ but is that right for the SUSE distro? Also, if anybody knows anything about GLUT/OpenGL programming + openSUSE11.2.
I wanted to fix something in the Kate editor. So instead of downloading it from it's website (Get It! - Kate | Get an Edge in Editing) I wanted to download the "openSUSE Kate" source package. But as you can see, there is no source package available. I tested it with source installation of "zypper" (zypper si zypper) and it worked.Any ideas? Is the kate source code in another package?

I listen to a radio show that broadcasts online a lot named ChatterBox Video Game Radio, and when i e-mailed one of the hosts about retrieving archived shows since the site didn't have any archiving of old shows or a link to it. Alon was nice enough to send me one of their old web pages with a HUGE list of archives but it's only the xml source code of the page. since the page isn't live of course, and because of the how he had to send me the code for the page and not a hyperlink to the page, i have the source code. now going through the source code of the page he emailed to me, i can find links to .mp3 files and i can open them and listen to the shows in web browsers, but i was hoping to save them to my computer forfuturelistening.URL]ww.chatterbox'ssite.com/whatever/anotherfolder/showiwanttosave.mp3 in firefox quicktime comes in and lets me listen (as long as my internet connection is active) but wont enable me to save because i dont have the pro version of quicktime. quicktime is good, but i dont use it enough to actually buy the product, and i'm not going to buy the product for just a one time use. is there another way to where i can save this file using the address from the source code (and the ChatterBox allows listeners to save their shows to computer for free, so it not some work around to rob them of money. i fully support them) without having to buy quicktime 7 pro(a product i never really use)?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install the tightVNC on my imac.It expects X install; I see that X11 in my utility. I think it is ok, but the instruction states to install it on /usr/bin/. Which is correct? Then I need to have ~JPEG and ~zlib to place in /usr/bin/ or inside of certain folders to use.To make sure it is ok; I put both of them in both of the indicated places. I assume it is going to work. Now, I am suppose to build and install. I am not sure how to do it with the command "xmkmf" and not sure where to run this command.I am doing all of this in terminal.

I think I put my question on a wrong sub-forum. My problem is I can't get apache to produce right output to XMLHttpRequest responseText but instead it displays php source code. On another server the same code works as it should.
When I open the php script on a browser window it works as it should.
this is the thread in programming sub-forum Apache sends php source code to Ajax - openSUSE Forums

Where do I find the linux-source package and the linux-headers package? Are they on the CD that I can copy to /usr/src (is that the right place...)? Or do I need to download them from the old-releases.ubuntu.com site?
The issue now is that the nVidia installer from their website wants the source code to build the right packages for this machine, however, I do not have the src directory with the source code that it is looking for. Is there some way to give this too it now?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI had Ubuntu for awhile, now I installed Fedora12, I'm trying to follow directions to install a program from source code (tar.gz file) I have the February 2010 issue of Linux Format, and am trying to follow it step by step. I copied gnurobbo off their disk to my desk top, which copied it. Then I did the cd command, then I did the ls command and it didn't show me anything but a line saying desktop and a few other things like pictures movies etc. so I did cd gnurobbo-0.64 and it says no such file. I have been trying this for a few times and I think I'm going crazy.

how to get Amarok 1.X installed on 11.2? I updated to 11.2; and as far as I can tell it's only got A2. I am REALLY DISPLEASED with A2 and want to go back to 1.4. I couldn't 1.4 any where for downloads; as far as repos go.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am not having any luck with the 'out-of-the-box' version of Amarok on 11.2. It is missing a lot of features (syncing with my fuze most notably). So I figured that I would go to the latest version, but the one-click install from backports (2.2.2-4.1) reported that it could not install amarok-xine and amarok-libvisual. It installed anyway, but was not stable at all. I thought that that install process was supposed to do the updates for me. I went back to the 2.1.1 version, but it still crashes pretty frequently.
Trying banshee right now. Anyway, the big question is... do I go up, down, or off for Amarok? I have a Sansa Fuze and would love to sync music with it, but Amarok is not getting the job done right now. I have read of people going back to 1.4, but after my attempt to install 2.2.2, I'm not so sure that I'm doing it right. Should what I did have worked? I'd like to find one that will get album art and transfer it to my fuze as well (folder.jpg is what seems to make it the happiest).
I'm using Amarok 1.4 and when I select the playlist=>burn to CD, k3b doesn't apear. I get the prompt that asks if I want to make an audio or data disk. Only the Audio CD works; the data disk option doesn't work.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm running OS 11.2x86_32, KDE 4.4.3 with the latest updates and a problem has cropped up with Amarok (version 2.3.0). When starting the app it keeps saying there is no mp3 support and do I want to install it. Tell it yes, and restart the program and it says the same thing at each start. What's strange is that mp3's play just fine. I've run the 10 steps for troubleshooting and all the codecs are fine, this appears to be an Amarok only problem. SMplayer works fine, Kaffeine and VLC too.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI added the Packman repository and installed ASF modules for Amarok. Since that point Amarok didn't make a noise, although it actually played music.
- Speakers aren't muted
- sound works fine using banshee and pretty much everything else
- so drivers are up to date
I'm having trouble playing some mp3's through Amarok, all other media players are fine with the mp3's in question. Tested on VLC and Audacious. Most other mp3's play through Amarok though. Why this problem. I'm using the gstreamer backend. I tried changing it to xine but then nothing would play. I really like Amarok and want to use it as my main player, so this issue is a little irritating.
