I would like to install the devel package for this kernel version, but I can't find it, because in the fedora repo there is only the original kernel (2.6.29.4....) and in the updates repo there is only the newest kernel package (2.6.30....)
Where can I find the packages which are between the fedora and update repos' versions?

Sep 8, 2010bouncing icon and spinning icon in toolbar for 10-20 seconds, then nothing. Is there a special log file to be found for mozilla errors? (couldn't find anything useful in or near /var/log/messages or warnings all dependencies of associated programmes seem to fulfil dependencies, but obviously something isn't right. Does anyone else have the same problem?

Aug 10, 2010I havent used Linux in a long time. I dug up an old copy of Suse (version8.2), and installed it on an old 599MHZ PC. Ive been trying to update the various libraries to be able to get a updated version of Firefox installed. Is there any chance that this can work? I need to know if Im wasting my time and should just put winxp on this PC. Also, I cant get any repositories working. I assume the default ones I have on the Suse installation are bad and the ones for the later versions will not work.

I am looking for an iso file, and I am trying to run this off of a live CD for now. So I want a light version of Linux, probably LXDE, or if not, then probably XFCE. But I need a new version of Firefox and OpenOffice included.
Because, I tried burning the customizable NimbleX @ custom.nimblex.net . Pretty good, except it uses Firefox 2, and Open Office 2.3, which are outdated.
And I tried Mint XFCE, which might have been pretty good too, but it had some issue of blanking and requiring relogin after I opened hotmail frequently (user id: mint, password: blank).
The web browser and the word processing program are the most important and essential applications to me.
So are there any Linux versions in LXDE on LiveCD that include newer versions of Firefox (or at least another good browser) and Open Office (oo seems better than abi)? (Again, if no LXDE, perhaps XFCE?)
I just want to download a good version in an iso file, and burn it to a CD and get to work. Like I said the web browser and the word processing program are all important.
So really, what iso/LiveCD versions are the fastest for running on an older system, and yet have the newest browser and word processor included?

Sep 10, 2009After new kernel update I noticed that I have 2 different versions of 1 kernel installed.
Kernels are:
2.6.30.5-43.fc11.i686.PAE (this one I use because previous kernels are all .PAE)
and
2.6.30.5-43.fc11.i586
Should I now expect any problems with later kernel releases or can I leave it this way? I boot in the .PAE kernel.

Apr 29, 2011I have a system with one 2.6.35 kernel, one 2.6.38 kernel I built from a koji src rpm and 1 rawhide 2.6.39 kernel I installed directly with yum. Now that a newer 2.6.35 is out, I'd like to yum update my 2.6.35 kernel so I'll have those two in the 2.6.35 range. But the problem is those newer kernels (38 and 39) make yum think there's no update that's available because they have higher version numbers than the new 2.6.35.12-90 kernel. Is there someway I can make yum update to 2.6.35.12-90 anyway? I was thinking I could download the kernel and kernel-devel rpm files for 2.6.35.12-90 and do the yum install for them off the hard drive, would that work?

Dec 11, 2010I've got an Atheros AR5001 Wireless Network Adapter and it works perfectly in Ubuntu 9.04 to 10.04, but when I upgraded to Ubuntu 10.10 I had to restart my computer several times before the wireless card would start and I would be able to connect to any networks? I then changed to Fedora 14 and the problem was also present so I assumed the problem was my wireless card and not the operating system. However I recently wondered if it was the OS again and went back to 10.04 and my wireless card works flawlessly again. So I'm wondering if there was an update to the drivers in Ubuntu 10.10, and I assume Fedora 14 using the same version? How would I be able to see if they did change? And how would I be able to use the version of the drivers in Ubuntu 10.04 in 10.10 if it is the drivers what changed?

loaded on my system. Version 2.6.30.5-43 hangs after the progress bar completes with messges labeled r8169 about the ehternet link status. Version 2.6.29.6-2317.2 boots just fine. How do I remove version 2.6.30.5-43 from the system?

Oct 29, 2009Fedora 11, 32-bit, updated daily manually via yum (console). Today got the Firefox update to 3.5.4. After restarting Firefox, the fist page reads: "You should update Adobe Flash Player right now." The link leads to Adobe site, which offers me Flash Player version 10.0.32.18. All is fine so far, excluding the fact that I already have this player:
[root@pc ~]# rpm -qa | grep flash
flash-plugin-10.0.32.18-release.i386
Just for the record, on "aboutlugins" page Firefox confirms I do have the correct player version:

Does it mean Firefox does not detect correctly the Flash plugin version? Or am I missing something?
