First of all after installing i was not able to update my fedora 12 using the GUI version.Ultimately i have done the updation using
su -
yum update
after updation my boot menu changes as

I have a fedora 11 with kernel package: kernel-PAE-2.6.29.6-217.2.3.fc11.i686
I would like to install the devel package for this kernel version, but I can't find it, because in the fedora repo there is only the original kernel (2.6.29.4....) and in the updates repo there is only the newest kernel package (2.6.30....)
Where can I find the packages which are between the fedora and update repos' versions?
I'm trying to do a net install with the latest release of debian - but my ethernet card is not recognized/the drivers are not available because I have a card that requires a linux kernel version of 2.6.35. This is obviously a problem because I can't download any additional packages, and I can't update the version because I'm not able to connect to the internet. I have installed it, but it's only text (which I assume is because I could not install the graphical interface, correct me if I'm blaringly wrong here). So what can I do to install debian on my laptop and be able to use my Intel Centrino Advanced-N 620 network card?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm unable to update vim to 7.3 version. I'm using Centos 5.5, and the current version of vim i have is: 7.0.237. I tried to do it from the repo, but it looks like it's not updated.
Also i tried to do it from rpm files but it asked me for too many dependencies and i didn't know where to find some of them.
What should i do?? Try to update the repos??
I just tried to install lightning and it complained that I wasn't running the right/latest version of TB so I added the Mozilla repository, ran a check and nothing. So I checked out the Mozilla site and they have a version 6 for download. Why does Suse not want to update from the current version 3?

I was told by my security officer that I must remove SSL 2.0 and start using version SSL 3.0 due to security vulnerability. I don't even know how I can check on the current version, let alone upgrading to the current version we're running.

It is present in my home folder with its own directory, but I am unsure how to use it. I downloaded Java to try to play Minecraft, but when I open then .jar file with the directory nothing happens. View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an HP EVO W6000 Workstation: Dual 2.2 Xeon Processors with 2 Gigs of Rambus Memory with 120 gig IDE HD and a DVD/RW IDE Burner. It is a 32bit Workstation. I just downloaded the 9.10 ISO of Ubuntu and created the CD. When putting the CD into the PC it will boot to the CD and the Ubuntu screen appears giving me the choices on how do I want to install Ubuntu but when I choose Install Ubuntu and hit enter nothing happens at all. It will let me boot to the HD but there is nothing on the drive. It is a clean HD with nothing on it. I'm not dual booting with another OS Like Windoze. I'm just want to install Ubuntu on this PC all by itself. I am using the 32bit version of Ubuntu since my workstation only supports a 32bit OS.

When I'm using USB flash drive Ubuntu log in but the screen are a corrupted image from my windows so I removed the hard drive that contain windows on it and try again the screen goes black with a small colorful point on it. and I tried the 32-bit version and same problem.

Kernels are:
2.6.30.5-43.fc11.i686.PAE (this one I use because previous kernels are all .PAE)
and
2.6.30.5-43.fc11.i586
Should I now expect any problems with later kernel releases or can I leave it this way? I boot in the .PAE kernel.
I have a system with one 2.6.35 kernel, one 2.6.38 kernel I built from a koji src rpm and 1 rawhide 2.6.39 kernel I installed directly with yum. Now that a newer 2.6.35 is out, I'd like to yum update my 2.6.35 kernel so I'll have those two in the 2.6.35 range. But the problem is those newer kernels (38 and 39) make yum think there's no update that's available because they have higher version numbers than the new 2.6.35.12-90 kernel. Is there someway I can make yum update to 2.6.35.12-90 anyway? I was thinking I could download the kernel and kernel-devel rpm files for 2.6.35.12-90 and do the yum install for them off the hard drive, would that work?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got an Atheros AR5001 Wireless Network Adapter and it works perfectly in Ubuntu 9.04 to 10.04, but when I upgraded to Ubuntu 10.10 I had to restart my computer several times before the wireless card would start and I would be able to connect to any networks? I then changed to Fedora 14 and the problem was also present so I assumed the problem was my wireless card and not the operating system. However I recently wondered if it was the OS again and went back to 10.04 and my wireless card works flawlessly again. So I'm wondering if there was an update to the drivers in Ubuntu 10.10, and I assume Fedora 14 using the same version? How would I be able to see if they did change? And how would I be able to use the version of the drivers in Ubuntu 10.04 in 10.10 if it is the drivers what changed?

loaded on my system. Version 2.6.30.5-43 hangs after the progress bar completes with messges labeled r8169 about the ehternet link status. Version 2.6.29.6-2317.2 boots just fine. How do I remove version 2.6.30.5-43 from the system?

After checking for packages to update I first updated all the programms listed in the update manager. After this I started the update of the OS. After some checks the download of the new files started. It took appr. 2 hours. After this I got he message about some applications, which are no longer supported. So far no problems. For me the only way to get Ubuntu 10.04 running seems to install it from CD/DVD.
