Aug 30, 2009I am trying to put folder in the corner of Desktop, but I can to it - because it is automatically moved 2 centimeters to the left (or to the right). How it can be fixed?

Sep 13, 2015I've been having a problem with debian lately. It seems that sometimes a rectangular corner on the top left of my screen freezes and shows what was previously there. It goes away when I close all open windows but shows up again if I open multiple applications, especially if I open the terminal and another application. It can become very distracting and makes it impossible to see what is on the top left corner of my screen.
I'm including a screenshot of my desktop.
I am running Debian 8.2 Jessie on an Asus Q400A with 8 GB of RAM. I have an Intel Core i7-3632QM CPU @ 3.2GHz and am using XFCE as my Desktop Environment.

Jan 2, 2010I have installed Mint8. I was using VPN connection before to be able to use skype (it's blocked in the Middle East...) but can't get it to work in Linux I've installed the network manager, added and configured the VPN connection but when I click on it to connect it doesn;t do anything. No window popping up, no error message... anyone has got an idea what else I should do in order making it work? or how else can I use skype without logging into private networks?
another "problem" we have got 2users on Linux and the other one cannot see the wifi icon in the bottom right corner on his desktop. after nm applet (or some command like that ) i got back that its been taken by another user. so can only one user see this icon on his desktop??
Fedora :: Unable To Remove Folder From Desktop?
Mar 6, 2011I was recently learning to compile software from source code(tar.gz) files,he instructions told me to extract the files to the desktop. After I did this, I now see the folder on the desktop with the files in it, and I am unable to delete the folder. The error message says "there was an error deleting copying". Error removing file:Permission denied. Has anyone ever experienced this? I've run out of ideas as to how to get rid of it

Apr 2, 2011I was dragging and dropping content from a folder onto the user desktop folder when suddenly instead of the packed Desktop Folder I got the Home folder with the few normal files that were in it AND one file called Desktop.
(actually, the file name was "Escritorio" and it was a PDF file, and in $HOME/.config/ the file user-dirs.dirs was changed to say XDG_DESKTOP_DIR="$HOME/" instead of XDG_DESKTOP_DIR="$HOME/Escritorio")
I've searched around but only found how to recreate a folder calles "Desktop" (or "Escritorio") and have it act like such, but not how to eventually recover the original "Desktop" folder AND ALL ITS CONTENTS (quite a lot!)
Is there any way to get the content back?

Oct 29, 2010I have this nasty habit of refreshing desktop in a quick succession by right-clicking and selecting 'Refresh',on my XP system at office.(And,iam sure most of us do the same).With Ubuntu,if a right-click on desktop slowly and select 'align by...',it simulates the XP refresh action as explained above.But,if i perform the same action rapidly,it takes this first option from right-click context menu,which is 'Create Folder',and results in an empty folder being created on desktop.I tried double right-clicking and again it created an empty folder.Is there any workaround to handle this.I mean:Can the right-click context menu items be shuffled so that the 'Create Folder' option is moved from 1st place

Jun 17, 2011Running kubuntu 11.04x64 w/ xrender and folder-view plasmoid:
I cannot view "open with" for directories on the desktop (but it is visible w/in dolphin file structure) and whenever I try to rename folders on the desktop it crashes and restarts (but the rename is successful and no open windows crash).
This glitch is reproducible under OpenGL and Xrender; had to switch over to xrender after a recent system update that seems to slow my computer to a crawl after a little time and kept it cause it seems much smoother and crisper.
Is there any way to fix these issues or is there an alternative to the folder-view plasmoid to view a folder content on the desktop that is more stable?

It seems to have included an effect similar to OS Xs active corners and expose where the top right corner gives me an overview of every window. I have ccsm installed and tried to disable every feature enabled but it doesn't seem to come from there.

1. It shows root@localhost kostia, but during the installation of Fedora 13 DVD x86 I renamed localhost.localdomain into baikal as my laptop name. Very strange error. On static PC I used amour name and it works without localhost.
2. Above you can see my list of initial cards. I wish to know where is it my ethernet card? The bug #2 is that after Fedora was installed, I can't see any connections in my Network Manager. So I created Wired one myself. After that I still can't see the icon in the top-right corner to restart the connection as usually we may do that. So, what is wrong? When I move the mouse to the right bottom corner, the cursor freeze a couple of seconds, and after that any problems.
