I just installed Fedora and all works great but i have a little problem. When I move the mouse to the right bottom corner, the cursor freeze a couple of seconds, and after that any problems. But every time i move the mouse cursor to that corner, the same freeze.I try disabling the desktop effects but nothing change, always the same problem
View 2 RepliesFor some reason the mouse curser starts out in the middle of the screen after booting as normal but as soon as i move it, it gets stuck in the top left corner of the screen.It still responds to clicks and i can sometimes see it "wants" to move but itets repositioned into that corner.he problem exists in the live-cd session as well as in the installed session.I looked into the Xorg.0.log file and it said something along the lines of:Code:HID XXXX:XXXX: failed to initialize for relative axesI suspect this to be the culprit, yet i've never had any problems with the mouse in any other operating system (writing from kubuntu 9.10 right now) and i've used most of the popular ones.Is there anything i can do about it? Seems that X is doing things differently in Fedora... There's got to be some switch or something.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI finally got around to installing Fedora 15 on my HTPC. I noticed that the mouse cursor starts in the upper left corner of the screen as soon as the login screen appears. This means that after login, if I only used the keyboard so far, the Gnome Shell overlay starts immediately.This is at most an interesting quirk until I try to set XMBC to automatically launch. Now I have to press <Esc> or move the mouse to de-activate the overlay before I can use the program.Is this mouse cursor thing intended behaviour, is there some software fix, or is it a hardware quirk? I have a Radeon HD 4650 graphics card (Smolt profile).

No issues as long as I don't go in the corner.The effect seems to affect an area 4cm long and 2cm tall regardless of what is showing on the screen. Changing to proprietary drivers has no effect.

This issue was solved On June 9th. Root cause was Kore 2 controller device being misinterpreted as a pointing device. I hope to eventually use the Kore as a straight-up MIDI controller in Ubuntu Studio, but that's a long way off. For now I will unplug it whenever I boot Ubuntu Studio. XINPUT LIST gave me the hint I needed to figure this out. Original post and problem resolution thread follows:
I'm a total Linux newbie, but well versed in Windows. Just installed Ubuntu Studio 10.10. This was a clean install, not an upgrade.. Installation went fine, but when I boot into it, I get the cursor stuck at the upper left corner of the screen. When I move the mouse, the cursor will move, but it immediately jumps back to the upper left corner. I can't select anything except to open the main menu. Then I must use keyboard cursor control to navigate.

What does it mean if you boot from a live CD, the CD spins, a screen appears with the keyboard and human icons at the bottom, then a blank screen appears with a blinking cursor in the upper left corner - and that's it? It just stays that way.
I've tried two different discs, one 10.04 and one 10.10; and two different disc drives.

1. It shows root@localhost kostia, but during the installation of Fedora 13 DVD x86 I renamed localhost.localdomain into baikal as my laptop name. Very strange error. On static PC I used amour name and it works without localhost.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIm running netbook remix on a eeepc 1005ha. It is my only OS and Im loving it except for one obnoxious quirk. It randomly cuts text and randomly pastes it. If there is something in the clipboard, it will usually paste that, but just as often it will cut random text and paste that. The pastes occur when the cursor focus jumps back to the location of the cursor on the screen. I dont know a better way to phrase that, but thats what it is doing. Say... I put the cursor over the word "pastes" in the paragraph above... even though Im typing in this paragraph, the focus will "jump" to the cursors physical locale (the word "pastes") and then paste whatever is in the clipboard. If the cursor is outside of the textbox, the page will jump to the bottom.
This behavior occurs across programs and in any place text can be entered. I can find no rhyme or reason for it... it just... happens. Sometimes even when Im away from my computer, so its not like Im hitting some key on accident. I have loved everything about this ubuntu distro, but this issue is just toany obnoxious. Writing psych papers on this thing is going to be near impossible if I dont get this fixed before I go back to school.

attempted to "install it to a USB memory stick". I am having a hard time recreating the actual steps that he took. boot the computer and "Missing Operating System" message in upper left corner of screen. Not good, I think. I insert the Max OS X install disk and boot holding the "c" key so the system boots from the CD. Instead of installing, there is a disk utility tool from the pull-down. It shows the system hard-drive and the CD/DVD drive. So far so good. When I look closer at the hard drive, there appears to be a single Linux partitiion. No Mac OS partition. I know enough about computers to know that if the Mac OS disk partition is not visible, there' s probably no easy way to retrieve the 1.5 years worth of family pictures, applications, website I had built, etc. My "best guess" is that somewhere along the way, when he tried to install Fedora to the USB memory stick, that he inadvertantly attempted to install it to the hard drive. best route to recovery?
View 14 Replies View RelatedI just installed Fedora 12. Now i've seen a few other threads but they seem to have all the conclusion that its the Nvidia drivers at fault. Well i have an ATI Mobility Radeon 3400 series. I can login, and navigate for a little bit, then it just randomly freezes. I've booted to both gnome and KDE, kde freezes almost immediately w/o letting me navigate much. Gnome takes a bit and then freezes on me. I managed to login once and go like 6 minutes then i thought it was worked out, rebooted and boom, froze up again. I can still move my mouse but can't click or use keyboard. Ctrl+Alt+Backspace doesn't work either .....
