For compiling ArpON on my server the cmake command says 'libpcap not found' when a newer version libpcap-1.0.0-5.20091201git117cb5.fc13.i686.rpm is already exiting which I am unable to erase as other rpms depend on it.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm running NetWare SLES 10 sp3 with OES2 sp2. I was working with the folks at Novell to resolve an iPrint Print Manager problem.
During the process they wanted to perform a packet capture using tcpdump. While logged in as the root user the error no suitable device was found, and I received no data at all. This server is running on a VMWare Center. On other SLES 10 sp3 systems (residing on that same VMWre Center), tcpdump captures packets just fine. I inherited all of these servers, so I wasn't here during the initial build, but I'd make the guess that they were configured similarly. On a Server that I built recently, tcpdump works fine. On two of my Servers it does not, and gives the mentioned error.
It's not that big a deal, otherwise the Servers are communicating and working just fine. But, I'd like to get it working just because it's supposed to work. Students are off for the summer, so I have time to play.
i had tried several restrict options and disabling the slackware "no serve to anyone" default. i want the slackware system to host the ntp server for other devices to sync with so im not so hard on the remote ntp servers.
Code:
# Sample /etc/ntp.conf: Configuration file for ntpd.

I was given a computer that has the Ubuntu operating system installed I was able to at least get online with it. I tried to upgrade it (don't know what version was installed on it) using the Update Manager. When the computer restarted I got two error messages:
Error no suitable mode found
Error unknown command "terminal"
The system then went on through the Ubuntu logo screen but then I got a black screen. I couldn't get the computer to do anything. How to at least restore the computer back to its previous state before trying to upgrade.
My initial installation is for 10.4 (desktop). I've configured the package manager with my proxy information under the network tab. Downloads are attempted but none are successful. example error:Failed to fetch [URL]
I can download the example above via the firefox browser on the same machine configured with the same proxy.
I've tried changing servers, other hacks, but no change in results. I suspect its a proxy issue, but I don't see how. I did provide the credentials in the http authentication window that my reverse proxy requires.when I try to change servers, I get this message: No suitable download server was found
I am having a situation with an NTPD server.
Code:

Hoping to get better results with ntpdate, I stopped NTPS and tried :
Code:
# ntpdate ntp.skynet.be
29 Mar 09:12:26 ntpdate[4715]: no server suitable for synchronization found
# ntpdate -ud ntp.skynet.be
29 Mar 09:14:02 ntpdate[4814]: ntpdate 4.2.4p4@1.1520-o Sun Nov 22 16:14:35 UTC 2009 (1)
transmit(195.13.23.5)
receive(195.13.23.5) .....
I am running Debian Lenny 64b, and every packages are totally updated. I have 25 identical servers. And there is just one giving me this problem. From what I see, it is not a connection/FW issue since ntpdate get replies from the ntp server (ntp.skynet.be is my isp's stratum 2 ntp server).
I cant get ntpd to synchronize with the ntp servers. I have a CentOS 5.3 32 bit Virtual Machine. I'm in USA on Pacific Standard Time. Here's all configuration and other important information for troubleshooting. Is there anything wrong with my config? btw, I used wireshark to look at the UDP packets - I dont get any responses from any of the servers back. I only see requests going out from my server, but no response. Is this a firewall Issue? If it is, then do I need to just enable UDP port 123 on the firewall?

Just did an upgrade from 9.10 to 10.04 through the update manager and now I can't boot into the OS. I receive these two errors:
error: no suitable mode found.
error: unknown command 'terminal'.
After these two errors. Screen flashes with the red/white loading circles and Ubuntu logo. After that just goes into a black screen.
I can't update my ubuntu clock with my server. If i run the command ntpdate domain.local, it gives me this erro (no server suitable for synchronization found) if i run the command nslookup domain.local it works well and found my server

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhile installing Fedora 12, no devices were found on which to create file system (see attch.). I get the same message either on Live CD or DVD boot start. It looks like Fedora do not see my hdd. But Palimpsest can see my hard drive (see attch.)
Hdd is on my NForce 4 Ultra m/board and connected via "sata". Also I have raid controller on my board. But it is not in use: I turned it off in bios.
I have a Lenovo T500 laptop with 4 GB RAM. I have installed Windows 7 64bits OEM on my laptop HD. I also installed Fedora 14 on my USB External Hard Drive which it has it own boot sector. I don't want to have a dual boot. So if I plug in my external HD to my laptop and turns the machine on, it automatically my Fedora comes up, other wise my windows 7. (I set up start-up boot drive , first to USB External HD and then internal HD)
I installed KVM (Virtual Machine Manger) on my Fedora 14 and I am trying to install windows 7 64bits OEM on my Fedora 14 as Virtual Machine. After setting everything and start installing windows form CD, I got BLUE SCREEN right after "WINDOWS FILES LOADING..." finished. it shows me a blue screen and then it will stop
Questions:
1- How can I fix that problem?
2- Is ther way to make a Virtual Machine on my Fedora using my exiting installed windows 7 on my laptop HD?
I use Fedora 10.Whenever i try to open an avi file with VLC player I get the error 'No suitable decoder module for fourcc XVID'.How can I remove this error?

I've previously only used integrated intel graphics in my laptop and I've never had any problems. However, from looking at the forums it looks like neither ati nor nvidia will be quite as smooth. What's the current consensus for ease of use?
View 1 Replies View RelatedMany have suggested that since Canon does not offer a Linux driver for the MX310, one could use the driver for the MP150. I tried that but found the results very sketchy. After a bit of digging, I found a driver from Canon for the MX340 which works extremely well for the MX310 and allows much better configuration. It wasn't easy to find, so here's the URL in case you want to try for yourself: [URL]
The package (located in the tar file) that worked for me is cnijfilter-mx340series-3.30-1-i386-rpm. Good luck!
I tried to install fedora in my pc. First I insert fedora dvd and install as per procedure then finally system says like that your installation is completed please reboot ur system. How can I overcome this error.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am running Ubuntu 9.10 and trying to use OpenOffice 3.1. If I run OpenOffice, after 10 minutes or so, the whole computer freezes. Even if I have shut down OpenOffice it still happens. Only answer is to turn computer off and on again. I read some other people's posts listing the same problem and as a result uninstalled Open Office and then installed it again. I also uninstalled Compiz. Neither of these seem to be the solution. I have just installed Lotus Symphony and there are no problems with freezing and so the issue is definately with OO and Ubuntu.
I then on further advice uninstalled the bundled Ubuntu version of OpenOffice and installed directly from the OpenOffice website. The problem still remains. Next thing I tried was to uncheck autosave feature. The above problems only happen on my desktop. I also have an ASUS EEE Netbook running Ubuntu 9.10 Netbook remix. This is fine - the problem does not seem to affect the netbook. I would really like to continue to use OO - I like it a lot. Unfortunately this freezing issue is making it unusable.
I installed openoffice 3.2 but had insufficient diskspace at /opt. Thereafter I receive this message if I start the package/update manager.
"A unresolvable problem occurred while initializing the package information. Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the following error message:
'E:The package ooobasis3.2-math needs to be reinstalled, but I can't find an archive for it.'"
Uninstall and reinstall (at a different location (/usr/opt) is not possible although there is enough space.
