I am trying to install themes that require gtk2-pixbuf-engine, I found the the theme engine but when I run

ive been trying to move myself away from windows, but it seems like ubuntu just wont have it, either that or win7 puts some curse on ubuntu Just done my 3rd(3rd time this error has now happened) fresh install of ubuntu 9.10 onto my second hard drive(first hard drive has win7), install seemed fine, boots up nicely into grub, got the internet working fine(worked out of the box, wireless), other programs run fine, all seems to be working wonderfully well!
Until I tried to update, started up the update manager, clicked on check, its finds loads of updates so I let it download them, downloads all 200+ updates, starts to install them.
The updates are installing fine but then about three quarters of the way along the progress bar for installing it gets an error.Heres the details it showed at the error: (the rest of the details just looked like successful installs/updates)

I am trying to update a few pixmap engine themes and can't get the ruler to display/work without corruption in gimp. Works in Inkscape. The two themes have have tried are Scutum

I'm upgrading my duo core to a quad core. I don't have to change mobo or anything, as both are 775 socket. I don't have anything valuable in my current install of Fedora 14, so I don't mind a clean install if it'll save me a headache with drivers later. But, if it's absolutely unnecessary, I'll skip the reinstall altogether. I'm switching my duo core (E8*** series, can't remember which) for the Q6600.

I am trying to theme my Gnome Shell experience, and I have little complaints for the Shell Theme/GTK3 side of things. However, even though there are GTK2 files included in the packages, my GTK2 apps are theme-wise broken. The colors are not on par and the buttons are not round as the theme should say, as it's still supposed to work since the files are provided.

I have gtk2-devel.i686, glib-devel.i686 and all the other dependencies afaik - How do I get yum to tell me which gtk* packages are installed for instance...?
I am trying to install the gtk+ package so that i can install grapher which require gtk+-2.0
When I ./configure gtk+ I get this (lots of output before what I pasted):

How/where can I find this package. I tried the usual apt-get to no avail.
I've seen a number of instructions online that say to add either the elementary art ppa or the murrine daily ppa to get the 0.98 murrine engine installed. I did that but it only installs 0.91. I checked synaptic to see if I can force the version to install, but still, no dice. 0.91 is the highest version I can seem to install.
I also tried compiling from source, which appeared to run w/o any issues, but I must be missing something because it appears to not have any affect.
I had an interest in installing this theme [URL]but it requres gtk-xfc-engine. I found the compressed package but I'm not sure how to install it?
View 9 Replies View RelatedUbuntu 10.10 My wife wanted to use a new gtk-theme so she used the option "download more themes" and installed a new gtk-theme. The theme was not vissible for her so she just chose another default one. Now when ever either of us login into our accounts the default internal gtk-theme is used (the ugly grey square one). When we start the themes application (don't know the english name for it, it enables you to choose another theme for your desktop). The previously selected theme is then enabled even before the window of the util is shown.

I would like to install a new icon theme without effecting my currently selected panel theme, as i think the Ambience panel theme looks really nice and unified but im not too keen on the Ubuntu-Mono icons.Is this easily possible, without going into my icon folders and replacing all the instances of one style for another?Are there any applications for gnome icon theming like OS X's Candybar?Im sure others must desire to change only the icons and perhaps it is really easy and this is why i couldnt dig anythin up on google, that or im a useless googler.

Normaly It is supposed to show themes in /usr/share/themes right? but now it shows themes only in ~/.themes folder. I don't know what affected the change. how do I configure it as to show themes in /usr/share/themes/,?
Also whatever theme I use , Controls would stay same(Classic controls). They wouldn't be update to those of the Theme used.

I tried to connect to a WIFI require WEP key. I make the WEP key myself. I wrote it down on a piece of paper myself. My PSP can connect to the network, my XP can connect to the network. But same machine, my Fedora 11 can not connect to the network. As long as I tried to connect to the network, network manager just keep asking me for the WEP key. I don't know what xulrunner is for and I'm hesitant to just do a yum remove of the f14 one as I've learned that I can cripple or kill my system if I do this to the wrong programs.

I'm using F11 KDE 4.3** and I'm getting display errors in Firefox 3.5's widgets when I set Gtk apps' themes to match KDE's by using the Gtk-Qt theme engine. Has anyone else experienced this issue (detailed in the following screenshot)

I have an EEEPC and wanty to make use of the ASUS SHE. However, I don't want a program that automatically changes performnce modes each time I go to AC or battery power (Jupiter). Jupiter also causes lag when I suspend the EEEPC pr when I plug in the AC adapter. I pretty often work on battery when I'm at home and I don't need powersavings then. I want a way to be able to turn on the power saving mode (I've heart it does more then just undercloaking the processor) whenever I want, but I don't want those modes to be changed automatically.
