I'm installing x86_64 F14 on my Lenovo T61p, but I'm missing the i686 xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-173xx-libs in rpmfusion. Am I the only one or Is there a reason?
Edit: wine 32bit and Google Earth for example need them....
I installed Fedora 12 nowdays and tried to install the driver as Leigh posted in here: [URL]...Well i had some depadency trouble by installing kmod-nvidia and xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-libs.i686. I enabled rpmfusion repo of course. I don't have anything isntalled just the base programs what fedora installs. I updated the kernel and installed kernel-devel aswell.

Can I change something, so I can see on TV the full hight on my monitor screen with the same nvidia drivers installed?
I was running Fedora 13 on my old computer with a nvidia Geforce FX 5200 graphics card using the nvidia-173xx driver from fusion. After upgrading to Fedora 14 (the first day of its release) the X server wasn't working anymore, the screen just froze up after the progress bar. With Alt+F4 I "moved" to text mode and gave the startx command, but I got the fatal error message that there was no usable configuration detected. I deleted the xorg.conf file and afterwards I was able to start X again. I use the nouveau driver now, but it doesn't nearly work as good as the nvidia-173xx driver. I have it installed, but when I try to activate it (by running nvidia-xconfig as root) the X server doesn't work again after restart, and I have to do the same thing all over again.

Following this solution, I set up yum to use the livna repository and then found I actually needed the rpmfusion repo, so set that up as well. Now when I run "yum install k3b-extras-nonfree", I end up with a transaction error: Transaction Check Error: file /usr/lib64/libfaad.so.2.0.0 from install of faad2-libs-1:2.7-1.fc11.x86_64 conflicts with file from package libfaad2-1:2.7-16.fc12.x86_64
Any idea why the repo is trying to install faad2-libs x86_64 1:2.7-1.fc11 rpmfusion-free when all the other objects are correctly shown as fc12 and how do I get around this without breaking something which is already installed?
I have both glibc.i686 and glibc.x86_64 installed in Fedora 14 because I have programs that require both. Using a yum update gives me the following error: file /usr/share/doc/glibc-2.12.90/NEWS from install of glibc-2.12.90-19.i686 conflicts with file from package glibc-2.12.90-18.x86_64
What is the best way to work around this issue? Trying an "yum update glibc.x86_64" gives me the corresponding opposite error. Doing a "yum update glibc.i686 glibc.x86_64" gives a longer list of dependency conflicts with glibc-headers and glibc-common.
I am having a problem with a simple program I wrote in Fortran (gfortran). This program basically reads a long list of numbers and makes some operations with them. Double precision is used in the variables and functions, and AFAIK everything is in order with the program. The thing is that I accidentally noticed that said program yields different results, and I am talking about integers being different, something noticeable. Apparently the offending chunk of code might be:

One of the involved machines has F15 x86_64 and the other one F15 i686. My first guess is that this has something to do with how Fortran handles precision (which I supposed was the same for 32 and 64 bits). To compile the program I use:

Is there another option I should pass the compiler to make sure the same precision is used in both cases? Or what can I do here?
I have small question about building packages: is it possible to build packages for i686 and x86_64 (without virtual machines?)

I would prefer to be able to use the rpmfusion nvidia driver instead of the closed driver but when I try it, KDE4 runs fine for a while but then the whole display starts blinking and the cpu % goes to 99% for XMy PC is Fedora 12 x86_64, the video card is a XFX 8800GT[URL]1) installed the kmod-nvidia-190.53-1.fc12.1.x86_64 and dependencies2) blocked nouveau with rdblacklist=nouveau in grub.conf, 3) Ran: setsebool -P allow_execstack on4) fixed the xorg.conf (I had to move my old xorg.conf out of the way and merged my DontZap option back in)
5) rebootedI did not yum remove the nouveau driver,.... didn't seem necessary.My desktop will run for a while but inevitably starts flashing uncontrollably. I can't even ssh to it to run init 3 to kill X (I can ssh to it but for some reason I can't su to root to kill X).
The driver has crashed X and before I had a chance to find RPMfusion instructions on dealing with initrd, I removed the package just to keep X running.Uninstalling the package does not restore kernel and Xorg operation. I am still in VESA mode.Although they claim they don't put stuff in non-standard places and use RPM, still there is something left over, as nuoveau driver no longer loads.Now that system configuration is all over the place, it is not clear what they actually changed or replaced.
View 3 Replies View RelatedAfter upgrading from Fedora 13 to 14 via preupgrade (works well), the nvidia drivers for my "nVidia Corporation GT218 [NVS 3100M] (rev a2)" (it's a ThinkPad T410S) work - including 3D, but every thing paints slowly. The Desktop Effects work, but everything visual (menus painting, dragging windows, etc.) are all noticeably slow (and worked fine in F13).
Update - apparently this issue is related to the GTK theme in use. The default (Fedora, or Clearlooks, or a few others) results in this slow behaviour. Other themes, like Nodoka and a few others perform fine.
The actual nvidia driver version (260.1912) does not work for my laptop (a Sony Vaio F11 series type, see bottom of page [URL]), I would like to install an older version (e.g. 256.53). Up to now, I cannot figure out how to tell yum to pick up an older version. Is there a way to do this (because kmod-nvidia is a meta package, there may be problems?), or do I have to install 256.53 manually (using the installer provided by nvidia)?

Where do I find the nvidia libs so I can use the Nvidia driver for my ancient 8500 GTX. Using the package manager find nvidia shows nothing.
Are these libs held on another repo, as in other distros?, and is Acroread availble? is there a listing if the repos somewhere, I have some apps that have to be compiled and are a pig to get going, due to using those funny cut down libs that ubuntu use. When I backed up the last failing version of FC13, which hung as soon as yum was started, didn't print ect, I didn't close firefox down before copying the file. So the user config is locked, ie, you get firefox is already running, and fails to start. I found parentlock and deleted it, but but there is another lock file that needs to be removed, and I can't find it.. Anyone know the location of the lockfiles for firefox.?
The new kernel 2.6.32.14-127.fc12 is available but I can not found Nvidia driver for this on rpmfusion-nonfree-updates yet.

I just bought a new laptop and installed Fedora 14 on it. I now just noticed that I must have been very sloppy when selecting the download CD, because somehow I managed to install the 32-bit i686 version instead of the 64-bit x86_64.
Is there a way to change without wiping out the existing install and do a reinstall?

I have followed the guide to install ATI proprietary drivers using RPM Fusion.
I just responded to a (packagekit?) prompt to update packages, which included new kernel 2.6.35.12-88.fc14.x86_64. I use nVidia on my notebook and usually the new driver is installed automatically. This time, the computer would not boot to the stage that the nVidia logo appears, indicating the driver is not present. I edited grub.conf to take me back a version and I am now running under the previous kernel 2.6.35.11-83.fc14.x86_64. I tried a yum search for kmod-nvidia-2.6.35.12-88.fc14.x86_64 and nothing was found. I have enabled these repos:

I have motherboard Gigabyte GA-M61PME-S2P with nvidia hda sound card and I have no sound output using line in input. I've already tried to compile actual realtek linux driver but it didn't help. It looks ok because using gnome-volume-control I can see that there is music - volume bar is moving - and I can record it but I can't hear that on speaker live. I have also only 2 channel output hardware configuration. Alsa mixer have all channels but changing volume adjust didn't help. some information:

I generally check what updates are being installed. This time sadly I didn't and again this kernel had one missing module. VirtualBox-OSE stopped working. It had been working fine with other upgrades. No it's not a problem with dkms or other stuff. This kernel doesn't have vboxdrv module like other kernels...i verified it...

Fedora (2.6.34.6-47.fc13.x86_64) I installed that update, during the installation process it said that it had to remove three packages, one of them was kmod nvidia for the old kernel (Fedora (2.6.33.8-149.fc13.x86_64))After the update finished installing the new kernel, I restarted the system and Nvidia did not load. I'm confused, if Update Manager removed kmod nvidia, then why does yum say it is installed? And why doesn't the new kernel update work with that version? Or should I install a driver version for that particular kernel? I've read while searching that I need to install a kmod-nvidia for that particual kernel version and that I should login to my previous kernel until that happens, is that the problem I'm having?
Why don't rpmfusion and fedoraproject release the kmod-nvidia and kernel updates at the same time to avoid problems such as this? Does anyone know how long does it usually take for rpmfusion to release the new kmod-nvidia driver for the latest kernel?
I try to install one program called "iprint" but it tell me that I missed on package named "cup-libs-32bit" and after I search for that file, I found out it 's not fedora package but it is opensuse package. I wonder what the package is the same package with cup-libs-32bit for fedora. this is how it show after I try to install

Recently made the switch from the evil OS, now running F14, KDE desktop. I use a Logitech Marble Mouse, which has no middle button but two scroll buttons, and have been trying to configure button mapping (I think this may also be called Xorg hotplugging?) to map one of the scroll buttons as a middle button. The most helpful info I have yet found was on https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php...h_Marble_Mouse which seems to provide plenty of info on the subject--enough I should have no problem mapping the buttons the way I want. The only problem is I have no 10-evdev.conf file in my xorg.conf.d folder. I opened a console and ran ls as root for good measure, but the only file that showed up was 00-system-setup-keyboard.conf .
