I was wondering if there is an easy tutorial and/or explaination on how to create Public SSH Keys. Most of what I found is hard to follow and I would need to create on to join groups with the Fedora Project.

UPDATE: directfb and xcb-util packages must be installed, check by doing: 'yum install directfb xcb-util' 0. In your home directory create a file named .Xresources (don't forget the dot) with this line:

1. Now, as root, create a directory for the libs that we will replace, and backup the current libs:

(For x86_64, replace /usr/lib/ by /usr/lib64/ in the above and everywhere below)
2. Extract the required ubuntu libs from these debian packages, libcairo2, libfreetype6, libxft2, libpixman-1-0 or just unpack one of these tarballs 32bit libs, 64bit libs so that you have these libs in ufonts/ (64bit sizes will be larger):

Im trying to create a public/private key for open ssh, I don't really know what difference between the two. I want it to all be one command and not have to hit enter after each command. Here is what I mean:i type "ssh-keygen"and it asks me were to save, then my paraphrase, then reenter the paraphrase.I just want to be I guess you could say unattended if that makes any sense.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm updating many servers blacklist manualy. from time to time. I want to create a blacklist and host it on a website, and servers will update from this list regularly. For servers I'm using:
Centos
iPcop
Smoothwall
And for proxy I'm using Squid. And I dont use squidguard.
There seems to be a lot written about virtual networking but I am not sure what approach to take in my situation. My local subnet has a public block of 128 addresses. I have a virtual host running on my machine. My machine has a static address and I'd need to assign one to the guest. I have edited the guest's interface file and assigned a public address to it's eth0. However the guest cannot ping out and I can't ping in.
By default the virtual machine manager creates a virtual network (virbr0) and assigned a private address range to it. I have tried to create a new virtual network using a subnet of my public range (/31) but the manager says the range must to a minimum of 16 addresses (/4). It doesn't look possible to achieve my aims using the virtual machine manager.
In the past I have used the procedure laid out here:[URL].. which is to manually create a bridge. I am not sure that is relevant for my 9.10. I think I would have to disable the network manager if I were to do that and I am not sure how to do that.
I am running squeeze 6 on amd64 i like to know if there is guide how to setup a good firewall for dummies like me
View 7 Replies View Relatedhow nepomuk is supposed to work on opensuse 11.4 KDE? My nepomuk is active but it always says in "systemsettings" that 0 files are indexed. When I do a search via Dolphin, it never finds a file. It doesn't matter if I select "from here" or "everywhere". I also tried to select the root dir '/' to look for files to index, but still nepomuk says 0 files are indexed and dolphin finds nothing.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI need some help desperately. I am trying to install Series 7 for Dummies on Zorin OS 4. I was able to get Wine to recognize the program by copying the .exe files from the CD to the hard drive as the CD installation directly wasn't working. Now however the prompted Series 7 installation window that asks you to "Accept" or "Decline" will not move when I click "Accept". How can I resolve this? I am thinking it has something to do with either Java or Flash since this is an interactive program where multiple-choice questions are answered by clicking on them.

The only thing is that i'd like to be able to use openssl public and private keys so only a host with the public key could access/decrypt the filesharing. I've gotten these libraries (httplib, basehttpserver, ssl, os) to work using just a pem file containing both the public and private keys but no success with them seperately. Can someone point me in the right direction or offer an alternative? PS, the goal of the project is to create an anonymous, decentralized, secure file sharing program. I want to be able to upload this to sourceforge so everyone can use it, if that's any incentive

The following errors show up when I run from the file from the term window, but are not written to log.log:

I know with windows you can add the 2>&1 to capture error data. Is there such a thing for Linux?

As waht it says above. I can't access public wifi as any browser on every single distro i've tried (15+) won't load just stuck in perpetual loading. No error message or nothing.
Also the browser wouldn't work until i disabled ipv6 in about:config. All browsers do this. is there something i could do to disable it completely so i have a browser choice?
Public key for ucs-miscfixed-fonts-0.3-5.fc13.noarch.rpm is not installed. Got this after upgrading to 13.

I have been trying to test the use of X window forwarding over SSH in a cafe. The Cafe's WiFi requires login via a web browser. Using Fedora 11 with Gnome on a Dell Latitude D600 laptop, the wireless works just fine. I am able to use a virtual terminal to ssh to my server at home. NX client/server works also. However, when I change to Run Level 3 on the Laptop in order to use X Window forwarding, wireless networking fails to function. Will wireless networking function at Run Level 3, and if so, how is that accomplished? Also, if I get Wireless to work at Run Level 3, will I be able to login to the free public wifi using Lynx or some other text browser, as I can with IE and Firefox?
View 7 Replies View RelatedSince FC6, NFS became very finicky and seemingly causes servers to randomly denying mounts from some terminals but not others, with all exactly the same new FC installation and exactly the same hardware - crazy!. The only difference is hostnames of the terminals trying to mount NFS volumes on the server and I made sure that /etc/hosts on all terminals and servers contain each others ip addresses and hostnames. I always uninstall SELinux which is truly a huge pain in a corporate environment. Is there ANY way I can relax the NFS authentication on the server in order to make sure clients can mount volumes?
e.g. the following is encountered often, with sometimes crazy situations that clients can only mount nfs volum es from the server after I first boot the server and then ALL the terminals. It is painful as you might agree! Other way round, no go, client will not mount until server is booted and then client booted.
In this case I really prefer windows lackey security. It works. Never mind how crappy windows is, at least I don't have diabolical access problems on servers.. NFS used to be very nice about 6 years ago but truly sucks recently imo. /]# mount -o soft -t nfs nfsserver:/public /xfer mount.nfs: access denied by server while mounting nfsserver:/public
A week ago or so neither ssh nor scp were working when attempting to connect to my on-campus computer from home. ssh was complainig about the key not matching and I figured out I could just delete the config file it was reading the (now old) key from and let it create a new one with the updated key upon prompting me whether or not to trust the remote host.
However, even though ssh is now working, I can no longer use scp. I issued scp -v and discovered a bunch of errors. scp prompts me for the remote password and even prints the message of the day on the remote computer but then just hangs and doesn't seem to be copying any files. I'm sure the issue is with the whole key change issue but I can't quite figure out why ssh would be working just fine and scp would be failing.
I am trying to install openssh server with public key authentication on CentOS.

I've tried to ssh in as the root user w/o a password (RSA keys) but I've had no luck as the root user. I've tried the exact same commands with Debian 5 and Centos 5.5, without a problem. Fedora 13 and 14 won't work! I can only log in w/o a password as a normal user, never as the root user! It always asks for the password if I try as root. I've even tried copying Debian's and Centos's sshd_config file and restarting sshd, but it still won't work.

I have apache working,i have users set under admin group in /home/admin/username/html that is with an html publicfolder at the end, now permissions are set right, /html is set to mode 777, and the contents also inside them. But everytime i do a 10.0.11.25/~les i get a damn forbidden error code, its got me so pissed off and i dont' know whats the problem. This is the error i get: Forbidden 403 You don't have permission to access /~les on this server.

just installed Fed 11... running updates, adding rpmfusion - update prompts me - so running update Fed tried to updat rpmfusion config files for FREE and NON-FREE then i get the following error:

F12 / Gnome 2.28.2 I'm just trying to share the /home/Public folder with my Mandriva laptop. The "manual" on Gnome's website doesn't give much info, other than clicking the option to share the folder and deciding whether to use a password or not. There has to be more to it, otherwise it'd work.
All I'm looking to do is copy files to and from the folder on the desktop machine from the laptop..
