this morning i cannot boot the pc, it stops always on the screen with the logo of fedora in the middle. I think that the reason are maybe the last updates of yesterdayhow can i solve it

I downloaded ISO image from official web, Then I burn it on blank CD-R using lowest speed available from Nero 6, After that I go to BIOS and change that CD-ROM will boot first; Done. After that i reboot with CD-R, and it boots! Yea!, I press "Install Ubuntu", it goes to black screen with flashing Ubuntu logo at middle of it, After 1-2 minutes i turns black, ouch!, I press "Enter", and there is a error message, something like this...

"/boot" - ext3,
"/" - lvm (part 1)
swap - lvm (part 2)
now, I want to add my new Fedora system entry to my "central" lilo.conf, resident on another linux distribution. So, i've done

my lilo fedora entry boots fine but... at the middle of "after boot" loading the system hangs and stops the usual driver detection, etc (normally, it hangs on the CDROM detection or USB 2.0 camera detection).
I'm a bit of a nube with Linux. Have had it installed and Acer Veriton for a while but after last yum update it now hangs on the blue screen with the F bubble in the middle. I can login remotely OK but am not sure what to look for. It seems to be something X11 related but I'm not sure. I would post the relevant logs but am not sure which ones are associated with this problem.

Everything has been working just fine until this morning when I booted up the computer and it hung at the blue screen with the F bubble in the middle. I waited about 10 minutes without any change to the system. I held down the power button to power off and tried starting the computer again with the same result.

Now the Fedora boot just hangs up at the plain blue "f" screen. I have been prodding around looking at the problem of having no WLAN under Fedora but have not knowingly made any changes. I thought about just doing a re-install but am reluctant to risk messing things up further i.e damaging the Windows until I have Fedora working ok.

Same problem with 10.04. Been working on this since the 14th. Did miltible downloads and burns and setup the hard drive in different ways and still nothing works.
I'm having trouble with the initial white logo splash in 9.10. Apparently without exception the boot process stops during the white logo segment. I don't think it freezes because I can turn NumLock on and off.
If I edit the menu entry and remove "quiet splash" from the "linux ..." line the computer boots perfectly fine without any errors. How can I diagnose this?
I have a Compaq CQ40-616TU Laptop. I have installed fedora 11 64 bit more then 20 times and facing the same problems. The Problems are
1) After booting into the fedora it get hanged up and blue screen with the logo of fedora.

After upgrading to Fedora 13, the bottom panel bar is in the old position, and over any windows that extend below line 600.Is there something I need to do to get the panel bar to go to the bottom of the screen like it did in Fedora 12?

View 2 Replies View RelatedFirstly when I first installed Ubuntu on my machine, the bootscreen logo was small and high resolution, and it looked nice, however as I started using Ubuntu I must have done something for it to change to large and low resolution.
I try the live cd again and that one is normal, so it must be my settings.. and also when I am shutting down, the screen shows some messages I can't read because it's kind of fast, and the messages are kind of low res too.
Wanting to try F11 out and having an issue straight off the bat (perhaps I should see this as a sign of things to come and stop here!).I grabbed the live cd last night and burnt to cd OK (I'm not a noob at stuff like that); the cd boots as expected and I'm presented with the initial logon screen; I click to log in as Live System User, the "Other..." option vanishes but then nothing happens from there.I've left it for 20 minutes so far

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have done a fresh text-only installation of Fedora 10 on a Dell Dimension E521 for the purpose of setting up a server. After installation I ran yum update to bring the system up to date. After the update, I rebooted the computer, but the boot process froze. I recycled power and pressed "I" after the Dell BIOS screen and the GRUB bootloader appeared. I selected the most current version, edited the kernel line by deleting "rhgb quiet" and replacing it with "3." After making this change, I continued with the boot and the computer stopped at "Starting udev:" I have two fedora 10 revisions showing in the GRUB bootloader, the original installation and the update after running yum.
I repeatedly tried rebooting both versions and, after about 30 attempts, the computer finished booting and got me to the command prompt. Reading through the forums indicated there might be some issue with my nVidia GeForce 6150 onboard video and fedora 10. So, when I got to the command prompt, I followed the instructions in the forums [URL] to load the rpmfusion drivers. This appeared to be successful and when I looked at /etc/X11/xorg.conf it appeared to be correct for the new nVidia drivers. After loading these new drivers I tried rebooting. Unfortunately, I have been trying now over and over to get back to the command prompt, but simply can't get past "Starting udev."
I performed the first update in 4 months to my Fedora 12 Constantine. I also removed a 'dial-up' package (figured i didnt need it) and the KDE package after the update. Firefox was not getting a connection to the internet at this point. The network view showed the ethernet as inactive. Everything besides Firefox appears to work fine.
I restart machine.
It boots until right after the fedora logo fills up. At this point my dual monitors go to sleep. No response from anything. When I start in interactive mode I hit y for everything. Everything works great until libvirtd, libvirt-guest, and local. After y on all three nothing happens. I can type on the screen but no response. It just sits there. I can boot into text mode and do whatever I want. What can I do? What other information do I need to move forward?
I have looked at the Xorg.0.?? i forget what its called. I am not versed in reading the messages in it. Same for the other logs I looked at.

I have Ubuntu 9.10 remix on my Dell mini 10, dual booting with windows xp. Everything worked fine, not a single hitch. Then this week I turned the computer on, and Ubuntu goes through the boot sequence and I get a blank screen before the sign on screen. Same result each time. View 5 Replies View Related10.10 32 bit on a pc with a GForce 9600 GT VGA and P5KPL-SE mainboard.Sometimes, while booting, after the letters on the screen message " booting from hd1..." get thinner, everything stops and I dont get the purple login screen. After switcihng pc off and rebooting, usually, everything is OK. I used proprietary nvidia driver version current and after switching to version 173 (considering that it might had to do with the driver), maybe it somewhat improved things but the problem persists. IT is not that terrible to reboot except for that I use this pc at work and switching it off sometimes starts the disk check for errors utility which lasts long since disk is 1 TBI tried to read dmesg but am not familiar with the terms I show and gave up

I noticed my MP3 player (USB) is not mounted automatically when I plug it into the USB cable. I searched Google to find out how to auto mount this device and it worked. However, I didn't give this enough thought to what I was doing I guess. Now if the MP3 player is not connected to the USB cable the boot process stops at the splash screen waiting for the device. The window on the screen states the following:
The disk drive for /media/sdc1/ is not ready or not present. Continue to wait or press S to skip mounting or M to manual recovery.
I don't remember what I did to start this whole mess so I don't know how to undo it? Could someone please help me undo this? I would like the device to auto mount ONLY if it's plugged in if this is possible.
I have install fedora11 live and the mouse work well when installing.When you reboot the mouse works ok until the welcome screen apears then the mouse stops working and I cannot continue with the postinstall. View 6 Replies View RelatedI installed 64 bit Fedora 15 today on my desktop pc after briefly trying it a while back on my netbook. Although I'm much more comfortable with its modern look and function than I have been with other Linuxes I've tried since 2008 I'm a bit stumped with a couple of things.
1. I've followed two guides for installing flashplayer and I still don't have flash video in Firefox. Can I safely remove flash-related packages and start again? I use Mobile Broadband with a 3gb/month limit and don't want ot have to reinstall Fedora and the Updates again if I get in a mess.
2. I'm familiar with logging into Nautilus as root - in Ubuntu - to alter the Clearlooks theme a little bit. I take the blue off the scrollbar for example, and add a bit of space round the menu items entries (the blue highlighted area). Although many Fedora 15 programs are using Adwaita, Abiword for example is still using Clearlooks, yet my changes aren't visible - the scrollbar's still blue. What's missing here? I installed beesu and opened /usr/share/themes/Clearlooks...etc using it and I've checked to make sure my alterations are present.
3. Where is a safe site providing libdvdcss2 for Fedora?
4. Is it possible to get the Fedora logo next to Activities in the top right area? I thought I'd seen a custom theme for this and I like the idea of not all Gnome 3 distros being generic and identical.
