The problem is, I can't find where Mupen64Plus stores these save files, and the .mupen64plus folder won't show up at all in my home folder, and even on my file system. Note #1: I am looking for the actual save files, not save states, although that would be nice. Note #2: Hidden files and folders view was turned on.

Ok, this ol' fudge is trying to figure out how to save some files to a Live Thumbdrive USBboot of Kiwi10.08 which is running on the Ubuntu 10.04.1 desktop. Using the included File Manager, I can access the fat32 USB flashdrive, read the folder named "Buk" I created in XP at the root of the drive and displayed as "isodevices/Buk" when viewed through "System Files" or "Files System", which ever it is. The options to copy/move itesm to that folder are greyed out or missing. Both copy and move options seem to work as normal otherwise on the desktop. I should check and see if it is even saving/modifying items there but I would almost guess to be correct in saying... NO! As i said this is a kind of Live boot from the Kiwi ISO.I was told about "Chown" but I have not a clue of it and the Wiki just made my head ring.One more question, where can I find a good ol' Linux Dunce Reference that wont confuse you more. Don't get me wrong, I tried math for dummies once, it confused me more, so I re-wrote the pages as I went, or thats what we're suppose to do ?
I have Ubuntu 9.10 dual booting with Windows7.My ext3 /home is mounted as F: in windows.I share a firefox profile between them so that when i am in Windows my firefox uses the same profile as it does when in Ubuntu.It all worked great until recently. I am unable to save files by right clicking and save as. In the config i am unable to set a directory to save to. It neer asks me where to save to. Just nothing happens. some off my book marks are all messed up as well, my rss feeds have the same post on some random website every time i log on and i have to manually refresh to get the correct feeds back. I am unable to delete the random bookmark.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI can not get many things to work as I have no way to access root priveledges in Fedora 10. I tried before to install fedora 11, then 12 and hit roadblocks. The problem was both went through long installation times and then simply said not enough space in boot file. I then tried to remove images as it said and could not boot at all as I received an error saying something like file missing and it returned me to the boot screen. I then reloaded fedora 10, went through the over 700 ! security upgrades and set it all up. My problem is several things I try to set up I need root priveledges to setup. I can not save files in codeblocks IDE nor can I get Eric IDE to function either, also the same with a neat looking game sauerbraten.
I am happy with Fedora 10, everything works on the hardware side, my cdma sprint net connection works flawlessly, even my wirless works most times. I can not get to root at all, when I try to use the sudo ed it asks me for a password for ed then returns ed is not in sudoers file this incident will be reported. I tried sudo root and it asks me for root password and I give it correctly three times and then it says 3 incorrect attempts and exits. I can not get into sudoers file to edit as I have no permissions. I set up another user and group with id 101 (lowest I could use) and included all the groups in root - halt, shutdown, root etc and when I switched users and tried to access root as Edward no permissions again. I then tried sudo Edward and it asked for my password again, I used the proper one and still got the message Edward is not in sudoers file this incident will be reported. Also it seems to me I should be able to get into root through the switch users, I tried typing in root then the correct root password and that just returns to the prompt again. I know the root password is correct as I use it access the Aunthentication app and the users and groups app and it allows me access to these as root?.
With a default 11.4 (64bit) installation with Gnome - and using the 11.4 one click installer on
VideoLAN - VLC: Free streaming and multimedia solutions for all OS! - the 11.3 integration seems to have worked better.
The first issue is that it's no longer automatically integrated into the right click context menu of movie files.
This integration happened in 11.3.
The second, which I think is user error but I really cannot get it to work is dragging and dropping files does not work.
-> Open Nautilus
-> Navigate to folder with movie files
-> Open VLC
-> Click on a file in Nautilus and try and drag it onto VLC
The VLC is hidden during the file click and drag, so a drag to the bottom panel is required to try and activate VLC - however, VLC is never activated. I have tried different positions on screen but still over the VLC entry to try and activate it, but nothing happens.
This same sequence on 11.3 correctly activates VLC so I can drag and drop.
A workaround on 11.4 is to make VLC "Always on top" via the right click menu on the VLC title bar.

When using mouse to drag files from one folder to another (to move, not copy), it frequently crashes thunar.
This has been going on for a couple of months now, despite getting the usual upgrades.
I can no longer drag files from my ubuntu host into my XP guest. I have vmware tools installed in XP and up until recently I could simply drag whatever I wanted back and forth between the systems. When I try to drag a file across into XP the cursor has the plus sign like it would normally to drop a file in, but now it also makes a selection box on the XP desktop. Same problem in Workstation and Player. I haven't posted on the vmware forums yet, I figured someone here probably has had the same problem. I don't think it was a kernel update. I restarted ubuntu with 2.6.31.18 which was fully functional before, still with the same problem.

I right clicked on the panel and clicked "New Panel". This actually did nothing the first few times. Eventually it produced a panel on the right side of the screen. When I tried to alt+drag it to move it to my other screen, it won't move. The top and bottom panel do move appropriately.

View 7 Replies View RelatedMy wife has Fedora 15 installed on her laptop because she wants to use Gnome-3. I installed Fedora 15 Beta-1 and enabled a few ?repositories? through rpmfusion because she needs Flash and Dropbox for her work. She kept it up to date with the default gui application (?gnome-packagekit?). Somehow, somewhere, something went wrong.
A while back she kept getting errors while trying to update ("another system is already using rpm" or something like that). Also the window theme changed to something resembling windows. And she lost the ability to put a window full screen by dragging it to the top op the screen or tiling it by dragging it to the left or right of the screen.
I managed to "repair" the system by disabling one rpmfusion ?repository? ("rpmfusion future" or something like that) by using the gui. From the terminal I was able to get yum upgrade working again by a yum remove of three packages that were conflicting or pinned. I also managed to restore the correct window theme with the gnome-tweak-tool.
However, I can't find any information on how to re-enable the dragging to fullscreen or tiling. Google is no help it just keeps turning up sites with people talking about the fact that gnome-3 has dragging to fullscreen (or whining about it).
I am very new to linux but not to computers. The transition from Windows to Ubuntu was seamless, it is very easy to use and I really like linux so far, until it came time to save a file. I find it very hard to believe that every time you create a document of file that you need to be logged in as root to save it or at least that's what everyone is telling me.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI've been having some PC troubles since yesterday after downloading VistaOSx onto my computer. (I don't know why I downloaded it, I was bored.) Well now I have a virus on my computer that wont let windows start. Every time I go to turn on my computer, I get a black screen with just my mouse pointer.
So, I went looking for the disk that the guys at FRY'S gave me after they worked on my computer, and it was an MSI disk, and I booted from it, and now I'm in some OS called Winki 3 which is linux based and I don't know what I'm doing, to my surprise, I'm online.
I need to be able to get my computer working again, and I don't want to loose any of my files if I have to reinstall windows. I have a few questions before I start getting into this and try to get my computer to work but only mess it up worse.
1) What in the world is Winki 3? I've never heard of it.
2) How can I execute a .exe file? I'm trying to see if I can run my virus scan to get rid of whatever it is that is screwing with my computer.
3) I can see all my program files and everything, so I need to save some stuff on my USB's in case I do need to reinstall windows so that way I don't loose anything. How do I do that?
4) I know this isn't a place to ask windows questions, but I must. I don't have a restore disk, or a reboot disk or whatever, just this MSI disk that brought me to this Winki 3. How can I restore my computer without the restore disk, and without taking it to some place that's going to charge me an arm and a leg? There has to be some way, I mean I have this Winki 3 running, I should be able to do something that will restore the computer back to the default factory settings after I save all my files onto my USB's, right?
I'm just starting with OpenProj and wonder if anyone has any tips to speed my progress.
I've netsearched for introductions, tutorials, HOWTOs etc. and found very little.
Importantly I'd like to change the default font used on the display, to make the characters larger and bolder; the default is a strain to read.
Less importantly is there any way to make OpenProj use the desktop file open/save dialogs, rather than its own?
I downloaded the latest version of OpenSuse 11.2 Live KDE, I am using VirtualBox to run it, I completed the whole installation. Then, there comes the problem, whatever I do in OpenSuse works, but when I shut down OpenSuse and boot it later, nothing has saved since last time. Example, I tried to create a File.txt on the desktop, then shut down OpenSuse properly. When I boot it again 5 minutes later, the File.txt is not there anymore. I even installed Apache2, and when I came back, i wasn't installed anymore

At the moment, I have some really basic html files that I want to load into the /var/www directory. However, for whatever reason, I cannot save my html files. First, I thought it was because I didn't have permission on my account, so I switched to localadmin (i don't know if all Linux distros come with a localadmin account, but i know localadmin has "higher" permissions than, but less that root, of course). Even as localadmin, I could not save my html files!
