Just upgraded from FC14 to FC15 but YUM is bust, I get the errors of: Could not retrieve mirrorlist... Tried checking the my fedora.repo and fedora-updates.repo and they are all fine and even added in entries into my host file but I still getting the error, am I missing something simple?
View 10 RepliesI have used preupgrade to moved from fc14 to fc15. With fc14 I had my two usb 3.0 ports working. However, with fc15 my usb 3.0 ports are disabled. I have read the instruction at the common fc15 bugs doc and removed the kernel parameter xhci.enable=1 and also erased the file /etc/pm/config.d/xhci. Still the usb 3.0 ports are not working. I am using kernel 2.6.38.6-26.rc1.fc15.x86_64. I cannot use the 2.6.38.6-27.fc15.x86_64 since there no nvidia drivers for it.

yum update yum
yum clean all
yum --releasever=15 --disableplugin=presto distro-sync
I then get the following voluminous list of issues (148 pre-existing rpmdb problems). I've done an rpm --rebuilddb but no help.
Running rpm_check_debug
ERROR with rpm_check_debug vs depsolve:
libclutter-gtk-0.10.so.0()(64bit) is needed by gthumb-2.12.3-2.fc15.x86_64

Well, it appears that downloading and installing libclutter-gtk-0.10.so.0 seemed to fix all the subsequent yum error messages, and I was able to install all the packages.

I updated my up to date F12 to F13. I have what must be a 640X480 display with no way to change it. I get an error:

I have just upgraded my Lenovo T61 from FC14 to FC15. Under FC14, I had the system set up to hibernate when the lid was closed. When I opened the lid, the system would automatically come out of hibernation in just a few seconds and I would be back to where I was.
Under FC15, I have also set it to hibernate when the lid closes. When I open the lid, nothing happens until I tap the power button, and then it comes out of hibernation via some kind of reboot: I see the Lenovo splash screen, then the machine beeps and goes into a wakeup routine, which takes much longer than it did under FC14.

i have just upgraded from f14 to f15 using preupgrade. i am now still waiting for the first boot to finish. the screen is stuck for more than an hour and the last line written was:

Trying to set up a LAN with an FC14 laptop, FC15 PC and a Windows machine running XP. I have SAMBA installed on both FC machines, but neither of them can see shares on each other or the XP machine. I can ping between all of them. The Windows machine sees all of the SAMBA shares.
When I attempt to Connect to Server under Places on the FC15 PC, I do not have a Windows share option to choose from as I do on the laptop, suggesting smbclient isn't configured correctly on that machine. SMB, NMB and WINBIND are installed and activated on startup on both FC machines. Although I have the Windows share option on the FC14 laptop, it will only connect with the IP address.
Firewalls and SELinux on both machines are disabled. Here are some configuration details:

So on the day Fedora 11 was released, I did what I normally do -- upgrade with yum.
Now when I run yum -y update, I get the following mirrorlist error.

It seems that mirrorlist.txt is actually nonexistent, even if I run yum clean all first. Each time I go to /var/cache/yum/updates/mirrorlist.txt, it doesn't exist. It's not blank -- it's just missing. If I create a new file and put random data there, it gets deleted every time I run yum.
I must've done something wrong here. I would prefer to upgrade and not do a clean install.
The question is: what recourse do I have to do that now.

I have done a yum clean all , which didnt really help either. reinstalling the rpmfusion repos isnt an option either as I start getting curl errors in the terminal. I am really at a loss here and am completely out of ideas as I cant install any updates or software , at first I thought the repositories were having problems with the holidays but this has been going on for 4 days now. /var/log/messages isnt showing anything either.

When I go to the website mentioned, I see that there is no linux/12/ directory. Is there another website I should be pointing to? Or more generally, how do I fix this? I read another thread relating to a problem with the metadata and tried the fixes suggested (yum clean and yum -y remove yum-fastestmirror). There was only limited improvement with this.I am new to Linux so I'm not sure what else would be helpful here. I did do the yum repolist command.
