Am using Fedora 15, in which i was able to configure the proxy server and authentication. i confirmed this by configuring web broswer and it works. Now the problem is that i want to deploy it out to other computer system(client) i dont want to use the transparent proxy because the Proxy Authentication will not work. I even tried to configure a DHCP server if it will work but i cant still configure for other computer system to work.
I am using FC11. My problem is whatever application that needs access to the internet are blocked by company's proxy server. So, configuration is like
my_machine---------> firewall ----------> outside world..google and etc
Now, If I am using firefox then I have configured it to use proxy server and required login details and etc. But, my eclipse, ssh, git and all those needs internet connection as well... Is there anything like which sets all details (proxy server, user name and passwd) system wide ? So that I dont have to pass it to each application...
An application that supports SOCKS 5 protocol can forward its network connection over ssh and dynamically forward to any host name that you specify isn't it ? that means firebox web browser can use SOCKS 5 protocol can be used by pass proxy settings isn't it ? so how can a sys admin remotely detect if a particular user is bypassing proxy settings using SOCKS 5 protocol ?
I've read the documentation, but I'm still confused. I have two servers, one running Postfix and SquirrelMail, and another i want to setup a wiki(already setup) and Photo Gallery. On my Second server(2)I have two virutal webservers, wiki.rmasonfamily.info and photo.rmasonfamily.info, both running on port 80.My first computer is running my mail server again as a virtual server, mail.rmasonfamily.info. Default server is not used in either one.
Server 1 will be my proxy server, and if I understand correctly, my reverse proxy. Ubuntu had Apache set with a configuration in etc/apache2 using sites-available with configuration for each Virtual Server with sites-enabled with links to configuration files in sites-available. My Virtual Server in Server 2 are working fine, along with my mail server in Server 1. this is the code I assume I must use to bypass to wiki.rmasonfamily.info. In server 1, under sites-available, in the file wiki.rmasonfamily.info this is the code I put
<VirtualHost *:80> ServerName wiki.rmasonfamily.info ProxyRequests Off ProxyPreserveHost On
point me at a free proxy to bypass this which can simply be installed, built and/or run.setting up a server outside china and running a tunnel to it from my comp is not an option. also, below is a list of sofware that i have tried and failed to work:
Tor with vidalia Tun with squid (i think squid) hamachi (which i later realized would never have worked)
i tried to get haystack but it wouldn't build.
PS: if this post is in the wrong area, please tell me where to move it...
My company web access is behind proxy(http://abc.proxy). Network admin can get to check who is top10 user and web they access. I owned a centos server. I have a thought that create an encrypted tunnel within proxy so the admin cant detect my http address. This is how it going to works
client with OpenVPN -> OpenVPN server(centos with company proxy)-> proxy -> internet
My connectivity in my client are using OpenVPN server as bridge. Hence, no record for client is recorded in my Network admin monitoring list. OpenVPN server's activity can be traced by network monitoring tools, just assume that our ultimate goal is to hide client activity.
installed dansguardian and now working fine.I got a small problem. People bypassing proxy settings in firefox, means they go to settings and changes proxy settings to no proxy.. how to prevent this? How can I force people to use proxy to connect Internet? I done some googling but, unable to find a solution.
I am using Fedora 12-i386 in my laptop and have installed teamviewer5 for linux. I am unable to connect teamviewer. It always says, "Not Ready, Please Check your Connection". My network needs a proxy authentication. Teamviewer for Windows works well in my desktop having Win XP, in the same network.
i have just installed Red Hat linux 9 workstation ,i have configured the lan ip and successfully ping to other pcs on network ..but problem is internet is not working , i have already set the proxy setting, i have windows environment and running isa server 2006 proxy server ,when i trying to browse any site , isa eroor page occur "error code :407 proxy authentication required" Linus machine couldnot prompt the user credentiall.
i have registered two domain names that i want to use to connect to my ubuntu server. I was wondering how to do this i was looking at bind9 but that didn't work that great. The server is behind a router with firewall i can connect to it using the external IP address but i like to use the two domain names if that is possible.
How do you get SSH to use a socks proxy? I have tried: Code: ssh -o "connect -5 -S socks_proxy:1080 %h %p" host_server 22 I have tried to use socksify but I am not sure how to setup the client.
I have an issue with Adobe AIR, which I use to run Tweetdeck. It keeps on asking me to authenticate for my proxy server - every time Tweetdeck tries to load someone's avatar, for instance, which is making it pretty unusable right now.
I'm not sure why it's doing this, other than that I've just upgraded to 9.10 (well, to Mint 8, actually, but I would think the issue is the same). I've got all my proxy settings working, and indeed AIR seems to be able to read the settings from somewhere (it autocompletes the authenticate box with the correct details), but it just doesn't seem to be able to authenticate once and then be done with it, like it had done previously.
when i use the terminal, and i run "sudo apt-get update", there is a notification which says, "407 proxy authentication required". i use the internet of our school which requires its users to log into its proxy server so that the user can have access to the internet. the problem is i cannot run update or install commands through the terminal, though i can connect to the internet through firefox.
i want to setup a proxy authentication on fedora 15 for minimum of 5 users using squid but i had successfully setup a proxy sever on my system and its working perfecly.# vi /etc/squid/squid.conf this was the output.
I'm trying in the company where I work to persuade my co-partners to move slowly into the world of linux, but because everything are set up on Windows is quite difficult. Though I can install at least in one PC openSuse or Ubuntu (I prefer openSuse), but the problem is that I have to find a way to make the authentication to a Windows Domain, which is running Windows Server 2003.
How is this possible? Is this procedure painless or I have to read a lot of staffs in order to make it work? I would be obliged if you could give me some steps on how to do it. I can't stand windows any more
I have a samba server for company file shares but we do not use domain services or active directory service. Each workstation is its own standalone system. (And we want to keep it this way.) I would like to have some centralized authentication though, and it looks like Kerberos will provide that. After a lot of searching though, I can't find any instructions for setting up samba to authenticate users using kerberos without an ADS (active directory service) or domain. Is this possible?
On 8.04 when I connect to the internet for work, it normally asks me for proxy authentication. When I type in the correct credentials, it allows me access to the web. For some reason, when I use 10.04 to access the web via firefox or chromium, I do not get the proxy authentication dialog box, so I cannot access the web.
I've just installed Ubuntu Server for the first time with the goal as setting it up as a proxy server for our Apple computers here since I can get neither ISA of OS X Server's firewall to play properly. So far I have the machine authenticating against our OS X OpenLDAP server and multiple NIC's setup ready to be connected to the outside world. My question is does anyone have a preference on what proxy I should be using? So far my search efforts seem to of turned up Squid Proxy as a favorite among Ubuntu users but I can't seem to work out how to get it authenticating against my OpenLDAP server.
I intergrated the CAS on Liferay, it is working fine for single service. Now my goal is to configure Proxy Authentication on CAS to authenticate set of Liferay Services. I used the following services for proxy authentication, but unable to validate it.
I have a problem with sites or domain blocking by squid proxy server in rehl 5. I have trying lots of time but i'm not succed.pls help me how to block sites or domain in rhel 5.
I set up the 'Proxy' from Yast and they tested successfully. I can connect to internet, but why am I getting 'ERROR 407 proxy authentication required'?
FYI, my comp is the part of company .NET network with bunch of firewall and security...
I've been working for hours with Samba on Ubuntu Server 9.10 (Samba version 3.4.0), trying to get it setup simply as a fileserver that performs authentication to an NT 4 server (yes, I know, old and out of date). After much struggling, I finally realized that my configuration *was* working when the clients connecting (from XP, and Win2k clients, mostly) were actually joined to the domain (where the PDC is the NT 4 Server) and logged into the domain. For various reasons, many of the Windows clients at this location don't actually log into the domain, even though they have login/passwords that are valid users on the domain and they'll typically have some drives mapped to the PDC.
By the way, I have this working on another Linux box running Samba 3.0.28, so I'm sure it's possible, I'm just lost as to how to do it.I can provide plenty more information if it would help diagnose the situation. Does anyone have an idea of how I can get this to work? I'm sure it's possible, since the exact scenario worked in a recent version of Samba.
i have installed apache and bind on my server and i've also registered a dynamic domain through dyndns as jan27.dyndns.biz. i am able to successfully host my own webpages using this method.
then i registered a domain name (lets call it "blah.com") through namescheap.com and have registered my nameserver to my ip address. after reconfiguring the my external zones in bind and restarted my services, i am unable to reach my webpages through the new domain name.. www.blah.com and blah.com would lead me to a opendns.com page but interestingly ns1.blah.com loads my webpages successfully.
I was trying to install winbind on a RHEL5 machine and I had to reboot the RHEL machine. When it came back up, I'm not able to log in as root or any other user. When I use root and give a random password, it says invalid username or password but when I use the correct password, I get an Authentication failed pop up box (under GUI). SSh window says invalid password for random passwords and the SSH window disappears when I type in the right password. Can you please let me know if I can somehow get back in by stopping any of the services
I have a problem with the NTLM proxy we use in school. YAST proxy configuration won't work, it just says authentication error. We have to login with the user in DOMAINuser style and a password, in Firefox it works.
I need to enter credentials for a system wide proxy, on a fresh install of Kubuntu 10.04. Everything hunky dory, but: Network Settings->Proxy->Authorization has 'username:' and 'password' grayed out all the time; even at 'Manually specify ...'. The only 'alternative' (not to chose from) is 'Prompt as needed'. But I don't get any prompt, and so I'm out of luck. To me, this looks like a bug. Because one should be able to enter a username and a password there, for good.
