View 1 RepliesI have a Logitech ambidextrous trackball, with a left and right mouse button. The trackball device also has two smaller left and right buttons. I'd like to know how those two smaller buttons are addressed. Ultimately, I'd like to assign certain keystrokes to them, to make work faster. For example, ALT+<right arrow> moves a browser back one page. how to name these keys, or whether/how I should address this USB mouse. FWIW, I'm actually using it through the PS/2 mouse adapter, since that doesn't take a USB slot.
View 1 Replies View RelatedIm running fedora 13 in my machine, where i installed mac4lin theme and after that all the window's close, maximize, minimize buttons changed their position from right hand corner to left end corner. I ve attached the snapshot a window. I cant restore it back.
View 4 Replies View RelatedHow do I move the Window control buttons when the window is in full screen mode? I.e.: I know how to go into gconf-editor:
Code:
gconf-editor --> apps --> metacity --> general --> button layout = ":minimize,maximize,close"
(I've intentionally disabled the menu...)
What I want is my window controls to be on the right side of the window when the window is in full screen mode.
Also I've had an issue with the Unity dockbar glitching out. I can still click on the buttons (i.e. the logout button) but it displays like a nintendo game inserted crooked. Is there a way to 'restart' unity without log out/ log in?
Any one else experienced any glitches with unity auto hiding/showing?
No where are how enable get back minimize resize close buttons windows top tab Fedora 15 Gnome3 gconf2
There is a question about this in this thread but the thread title did not have any of the above words in it and since most "new" folks don't think to use the "posts" option, I thought I'd make a new titled post.
This seems to be a big irritant of a lot of people around the net with Gnome 3 so I'm going to confirm what other people have said about how to fix the situation.
In "add software" enter this search term:
gconf
You will see quite a few returns, you should click the following:
A process-transparent configuration system (G Conf1-2.3 yada yada)
Graphical Gconf untilities (it may be pulled with the above however).
Install it/them.
One can then type "Gconf2" in terminal and it will open but then close when the terminal is closed, or one can go to activities/applications/tweak advanced settings( the symbol will be the same as for settings in Gnome 3).
In the "Shell" button one will see "Arrangement of buttons on the title bar". Surprisingly, "All" will already be apparent. One need merely verify that it is on "all".
Close gconf.
Nothing will have happened in terms of new buttons even if one closes and opens, say FireFox.
Then reboot.
After the reboot, all three buttons will be present.
There are not a LOT of configuration items in gconf2 but this one seems to be of paramount importance to a lot of people.
One can also do it from command line, and if someone wants to post that please feel free it won't hurt my feelings.
I like openSUSE 11.3 very much. When I move the mouse pointer to the upper left corner of the screen, my active window is immediately replaced by 4, smaller windows (I think that at the beginning I had a cube). I'm afraid this gobbles up a lot of memory and henceforth slows down my computer. Is it possible to have only one window "active" at the time? If I want, say a terminal screen, I can always activate it via the "Computer" button?

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have noticed that,in Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat, the windows have their 3 buttons[maximize(a square),close(x) and minimize(-)] at the left(like in MacOS),while in earlier Ubuntu versions(for example,8.04 Hardy Heron),these buttons are at the right(like in the Windows operating system). Why did the developers of Ubuntu do this change?

View 4 Replies View RelatedThis is how to get the Window Titlebar buttons in 10.04 back to where they belong:
*Install Ubuntu Tweak from [URL]
*Start the program from Programs/System tools
*Go to Desktop - Windows manager settings and switch it from Left to Right.
I upgraded to 10.04 but problems started very quickly: I can see my desktop but when I start an application, there are no window borders or buttons to close/minimize that application! They just vanished. Also, opened windows don't appear on the taskbar, so I can't switch between windows, not even with ALT + TAB. The mouse isn't an arrow anymore, but a dark cross :s
Some specifications: Dell vostro 1000, ATI Radeon IGP Xpress 1150 (128mb shared), AMD64 Turion Here is what I did during the upgrade: everything default, except for once, when it asked me what to do with menu.lst (keep the old one or replace it with the newer version) I chose "replace" (default was to keep the old one). Can that be the reason?

View 3 Replies View RelatedJust recently,on occassion when I log in to my main user, I don't get the Title Bars, or windows minimize, maximize, close buttons.
I have tried changing theme
I have noticed that running the "compiz" command from the main manu will restore the title bars etc, and that my second user (created yesterday) does not have that problem.
How can I diagnose what is going wrong ?
Window buttons in the Fluxbox panel have dynamic width depending on the open windows' amount. Is it possible to make their width like in Gnome so that the buttons will have maximum width (but no minimum)?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI`ve triple checked this and every time I run compiz any window opened has no minimise maximize or any other buttons for some reason but I don`t know why.If I exit compiz from the icon there are still no window buttons until I log out and then back in again. I can`t find this mentioned elsewhere but it`s happening every time in Squeeze AMD64 fresh installation having only downloaded AWN and compiz (tried this without AWN running and same result). It seems to have a drawing issue as if I run AWN then only three icons can show up on the dock any others are just thin white lines but I have no idea why my buttons dissappear. Anyone able to enlighten me?EDIT: Well I realised that by default the window decorations bit was not enabled, enabling it solves the first issue so the white lines instead of icons in AWN can`t be related so will look into that seperately.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have found a few topics that touch on the problem I'm having but the solution won't work for me.
I am running a 800x480 desktop with Gnome, many windows are cut off at the bottom and I cannot click on the buttons. The standard reply to this problem seems to be hold alt and left click drag the window up.
That works just fine, the twist here is I'm accessing the desktop through a touch-screen (via vnc on an android phone) and I don't have an alt button to hold, dragging is also kind of tough.. I realize it may just be the limitations of my device, but it can't hurt to ask!
As title states, they are missing, and from every window. I have googled this and found fixes but in doing some of the "fixes" the bar at the top of the screen disappears and docky becomes effectless.
