Nov 26, 2009I used to be able to use the NFL game center on nfl.com to watch the play-by-play when I was using Fedora 10.Now that I am on Fedora 12 it no longer works. I am able to click into a game and see all the info but the play-by-play drive chart no longer displays anything. Does anyone out there know how to get this working?

May 2, 2010I installed F13 beta yesterday, added RPMFusion's repos, updated and everything seemed ok, when the time came to add mp3 and video support I did the same as on F11, simply tried playing some mp3 and a rmvb video and after being asked to install missing codecs everything would work but! it didn't work for video, although it installed a bunch of files the rmvb video still won't play.
For now I installed mplayer and I can watch my videos alright, I also remember that on another opportunity the same happened to me and after a couple of updates the problem was fixed so no biggies but maybe someone can give me some advice on what to try to fix this? like remove a certain package and try reinstalling it.

2. Suddenly vlc can't play vids anymore. But if u pull `top` or whatever process viewer it shows that its running behind the scene. but acted like didn't even start.
3. Okay, vlc misbehaving, smplayer is well unpredictable. It runs and plays with audio with the video screen being transparent, completely! I mean the video place just shows through to the desktop or whatever window is behind it.
4. I am using Gnome, nvidia card, been using these apps not until recent they get buggy and having issues. And oh yeah, codecs are in, I install them all and double checked.
5. I am suspecting compiz? Or Metacity compositing feature?

Feb 15, 2010I was having problems with pulseaudio, which I eventually cleared up. Now sound works on everything except flash videos and games. I have tried to reinstall adobe-flashplugin in synaptic, but I get this:

When I try to remove Adobe Flash Plugin 10 in Ubuntu Software Center, I get this:

Fedora :: Unable To Play Media Sounds On HP Laptop - F14 KDE
Jan 24, 2011I just installed Fedora 14 (running KDE) on my HP DV6Z-SE. It came pre-packaged with Windows 7 and I am running a dual-boot (I kept Windows for gaming purposes). Anyway, problem is I am unable to play media sounds. I've tried playing my music (all OGG Vorbis) on both DragonPlayer and VLC, to no avail. When I go to Phonon, I have two options for prefered devices, "Redwood HDMI Audio [Radeon HD 5600 Series] Digital Stereo (HDMI)" and "Internal Audio Analog Stereo".
When I test them, the Radeon one never plays sound, while the Internal Audio plays the test sound sometimes (rarely). I tried moving the latter up the preference order, but it changed nothing.

Sep 19, 2010When system is playing a media ( e.g. sth.mp3 ) by a media player like Totem, then I open a browser and forward to a page that should play sounds, but everything is pretty normal except the sounds ( I mean there's no sound ).
When firstly open a browser to surf the pages. If there's sound played in the browser, I can't play a audio media in a standalone player ( e.g. Totem ) before I close the browser. But If there isn't any sound played in browser, the outside player will work normally.
The 2 situations happens between no matter Chrome or Firefox and a outside player. I guess there maybe a conflict between gstreamer and adobe flash player. But I am not sure what happened in my system.

May 24, 2010I'm totally unable to play or mount audio CDs and unable to use video DVD's on my box right now. When I insert an audio CD I get a dialog box saying:

and if I check messages in the Log File Viewer I see the following text repeated (save for the last line) a couple of dozen times.

Red Hat :: 5.3 Hang At INIT - Unable To Boot System Anymore
May 23, 2010After a kernel update action, it seems that I'm unable to boot a system anymore. First off, after installing the kernel, and trying to shutdown to boot to the new kernel, the system replied with INIT: no more processes left in this runlevel. Kernel update was performed from to the following versions 2.6.18-128.el5.img -> 2.6.18-164.11.1.el5.img . The system is a VMWare virtual machine. When trying to reboot, the system passes GRUB, starts initializing and after loading the dm it stops for a few seconds at the message Waiting for new devices, show the following message:
Setting up new root fs no fstab.sys, mounting internal defaults. After this and a few other messages, it displays : INIT: version 2.85 booting INIT - No more processes left in this runlevel INIT: Id "x" respawning too fast : disabled for 5 minutes And then it just hangs. Jul 14, 2010One problem has led to another.. I had notebook version 9.10 and it worked OK. I Downloaded 10.04 onto USB and all seemed fine. After upgrade - disaster. I have as Asus Eee PC901.
1. I am in Italy and bought a TIM USB mobile broadband modem - Ubuntu can see the device but nothing happens except a bizzare message with no information at all 'Unable to Open Archive'. I have no idea what that meant nor what I should do to resolve whatever it is, so I went back to my older USB modem which worked under 9.10 - Now even that device does nothing.
2. as a result, Ubuntu software centre does not work, Synaptic Package manager is the same; also update manager.
3. Limited communications are available via the university wireless network. That network requires me to work through their own proxy;port address (with username and password) which I have set up using proxy manager including the username and password. This allows me to carry out web surfing and point to point downloads.
4. Firefox works fine, and it obeys the requirements for registering with the proxy. Thunderbird, evolution, Synaptic, Update manager, Software centre etc all fail because they failed to authenticate with the proxy. They all have been set up to use system proxy. (Also tried direct proxy address;port in each package but no go)
5. The ultimate frustration has come from the direct download of Skype (.deb). Double click and it starts to install then crashes because of numerous dependencies (things like libqtgui4).

She is running a pangolin performance which came with lucid while I am running a pangolin performance which came with karmic and i upgraded to lucid (bought before her). For some reason hulu always worked for me, so I was trying to fix it on her computer too, but somehow one of the commands I told her to run made her computer not be able to recognize that her built in webcam exists anymore.
The reason that this is so hard is that I don't remember which commands I told her to run, but one of them was the instructions from post #5 on this page: [URL]. But I don't know how messing with flash stuff could have possibly screwed up her computer detecting her webcam. The drivers are definitely installed for webcam, however when she 'locate uvcvideo' it tells her that permission is denied, so the problem might be that her computer isn't giving her the permission to access the webcam drivers to use the webcam, just an idea.

Nov 5, 2009I'm trying to figure out what in the world is going on with my sound in OpenSuSE. I put in a brand new Audigy chipset soundcard and finally got some sound to come out of the speakers. I used the guide here: SDB:AudioTroubleshooting - openSUSE. to fix the permissions on my sound and am able to get sound-test to play sounds as well as connect to the sound device in my vmware and play sounds. That being said, I have terrible sound quality coming out. There is a lot of static sound like white noise and the volume of the actual sound played is very low compared to the noise. The sounds also distort somewhat.
I have tried the pulse audio change in the tutorial above also and have been searching around google. The only problem that I saw similar was a person who fixed the problem by updating KDE. I don't have KDE, I'm using Afterstep.
OpenSUSE Multimedia :: Mp3 & Rmvb Files Played Too Fast?
Jan 15, 2010mp3 file is about 30 minutes but it runs up in 2 seconds and .rmvb file is about 60 minuts but runs up in 5 seconds.
I tried different mp3 files, tried different players including Amorak, DragonPlayer and Kaffeine. Didn't try other types of multimedia files though.
The fact that flashes work well on Firefox may prove that sound card is all right.

Sep 25, 2010but after a forum search I only found one similar thread, but seemingly the issue was not totally solved. I just would like to suggest a solution (well, most likely a workaround) for .rmvb Real Player movies which don't work well on Kaffeine, without need to install other players or applications.I first saw many people had similar problems as me: Real Player movies just played sound but not video, or viceversa. I first tried installing w32 codecs, but this seems to be the good solution for 32 bit users, I use 11.3 x64 and didn't work for me. After some Google search I came to this page:Index of /pool/non-free/w/w64codecs/
Seems to be a Medibuntu repository, and I looked for a .tar file, since I was looking for a "w64" version of the codecs. I downloaded the latest .tar.gz file found on the page, the 20071007 one and uncompressed it. It has some codec files and a Readme which tells where to put the files. After that done, without rebooting Suse, I tried again to play the movie, and Kaffeine finally played it well, although now it pops a message saying Kaffeine closed unproperly whenever I close it after having played a .rmvb movie. I think that can be solved by updating Kaffeine, but haven't tried that yet

Jun 20, 2010I just installed openSuse 11.2 KDE in a laptop and a desktop. On the laptop, SMPlayer worked very well with "rmvb" files. On the desktop, video its shown with no audio; using Kaffeine, both are played (sound and video) but are a bit out of sync (it happens in both, the laptop and desktop).
