As my exploration through Fedora is going quite well (and due to recent problems that I haven't been able to fix in Ubuntu, it's drawing me to Fedora even more), I still have another small question. I listen to basslover.de constantly, and when I click on the Windows Media Player button to start that stream, Totem starts getting picky about my connection. We have two wireless networks (for a specific reason), and whenever I pick the faster router, Totem happily plays, but refuses to play on the slower one. I know it's not an internet problem because I can play from either network in Ubuntu, and I also updated my wireless in Fedora with a new set of madwifi drivers. Is this something I can fix?
EDIT: Also, if this isn't clear, Totem is playing the stream inside Firefox. EDIT 2: Hmm, strange. It suddenly worked on the slower connection if I changed DHCP settings to Manual and then gave in details along with the Google Public DNS servers. However, this works in Ubuntu while on DHCP.
i've just installed a program with wine and it's all fine but I need the crack(not sure if it will run but anyway) it's in a .rar file Fileroller extracted the main "notmentionforlegal.exe" but not the crack for some reason
I recently moved to Beijing and am having trouble with my apartment's wireless setup. My laptop can connect to any wireless network I find out in Beijing but not our home network. My Roommate has a mac laptop and has no issues connecting to our wireless router. It appears to connect but receive no signal, which is frustrating me to no end. Here is my spec list and the model of wireless router we are using.
I have a desktop hooked up to a router and plugged into my TV. I like to run Totem and have videos running full screen on my TV. I would like to control that Totem using my laptop (connected to the same router over wifi). How would I go about doing that? I connected to my desktop using SSH and tried to send signals to Totem, but nothing worked. I tried using VNC, and that was ineffective as well.
I installed F13 beta yesterday, added RPMFusion's repos, updated and everything seemed ok, when the time came to add mp3 and video support I did the same as on F11, simply tried playing some mp3 and a rmvb video and after being asked to install missing codecs everything would work but! it didn't work for video, although it installed a bunch of files the rmvb video still won't play.
For now I installed mplayer and I can watch my videos alright, I also remember that on another opportunity the same happened to me and after a couple of updates the problem was fixed so no biggies but maybe someone can give me some advice on what to try to fix this? like remove a certain package and try reinstalling it.
V.L.C. and all others - but Totem - video players that I have installed have audio out of sync. This occurs in both D.V.D. and .mkv & .avi. I had this problem with V.L.C. 1.1.10 & now with 1.1.11. I do not think that this is a problem with V.L.C. since I have had the same issue occur with gnome-mplayer. I tried to downgrade gstreamer*, and that did not correct my problem. It shouldn't be a problem with libdvd* since the problem still occurs with files on my drive. Handbrake doesn't fail to rip D.V.D correctly.
Because of all of this I figure that it must be a system library that Totem and HandBrake don't use ( or bundle most likely in the case of HandBrake ).I am using Fedora 15 x86_64 with all updates to date.
I'm trying to view .mov files using Totem 2.16.7 with GStreamer 0.10.20 and GNOME but am getting an error that I don't have a decoder installed. What exactly do I need to get to fix this error?
While trying to run avi file using totem, I get error. As I tried to "search" as used by totem, I get: $ totem A Walk To Remember.avi ** Message: don't know how to handle video/x-divx, divxversion=(int)3, framerate=(fraction)2997/125, width=(int)640, height=(int)272 ** Message: don't know how to handle audio/mpeg, mpegversion=(int)1, layer=(int)3, rate=(int)48000, channels=(int)2, codec_data=(buffer)010002000000880101000000 ** Message: Error: You do not have a decoder installed to handle this file. You might need to install the necessary plugins ..... How can I get the codecs?
Im running Fedora 11 x86_64. I enabled the rpmfusion repositories (free & non-free) and opened an MP3. The codecs installed correctly, but when I play them in either rhythmnox or totem, it plays but there are issues. Oddly, it depends on whether I ripped the mp3 myself (on Fedora 10, 196kbps CBR) or bought (play.com, 320kbps CBR).For the bought mp3s, the track length is displayed and the progress bar fills as the song progresses, but I cant skip to another part of the song. For the ripped mp3s, the player thinks it is streaming (track length unknown).
I thought it might be due to using ext4, but this happens even if i play them off an ext3 partition. The mp3s themselves are fine - they play perfectly in Ubuntu and WIndows.
if I play an MP3 file in either Totem or Rhythmbox, it thinks it's streaming them, which prevents me from being able to skip to a certain part of the song and the progress bar is greyed out. How do I fix this?
I somehow managed to stuff up my Bookmarks in the Places Menu while using Totem Media Player: When trying to open locations from Places Menu, Totem opens instead of Nautilus.I'm running fedora 9.
fedora 12 64bittotem movie playeri have *.flv files download on internet with "download videos videos + 2.1.3" and/or "downloadhelper 4.7"totem fails to play them. warning;
code: ... following plugins are required; mpeg-4 aac decoder
I downloaded a video in .m4v format and I only use TOTEM to watch videos.
When the player start the video, totem look for by Quicktime demuxer, then it finds gstreamer-plugins-good.i686 to install. I click the "Install" button, but after it show that all packages are plugin already installed.
had a computer with fedora 14 cd 32bit gnome installed - worked good got a new disk so installed the dvd version (pretty much all the packages) onto it - this is the problem installation.after installation i added the rpmfusion repositories and installed all codecs. Code: yum install gstreamer-ffmpeg gstreamer-plugins* -x *devel* same as last time although i may have let totem search for some prior to this command)
if you search it wont find anything, if you close it plays perfect,,, but. when loading previews in nautilus it has the loading icon/clock and then just shows the totem icon.also i have realised that it cant play wma giving error "The playback of this movie requires a GStreamer element audioconvert plugin which is not installed." - the rythmbox preview works though.
I recently installed fedora on my laptop and after update and everything else, I played an avi file by totem media player but it asked for Divx MPEG-4 Version 5 decoder and when I searched, it asked for GStreamer FFmpeg-based plug-ins to install. When I tried to install these plugins it pops out a menu that says All packages are already installed. This happens for mp4 and flv formats too.
I just made a minimal installation of F14 and I have been installing more package to it. However I think I have missed something because VLC crashes after open and Mplayer and Totem have sound but not video.
When I was playing a movie with totem, a message would come out to ask me whether to search the plugin "GStreamer element deinterlace", but it can't find this plugin. when I choose to close the message, the movie can be played normally.
I have Fedora 12 in my laptop. I can't open rhythmbox, totem movie player, nautilus etc. If I try to open through terminal, it reports that Warning: Unable to create "trees" RDF storage.Performance can be improved by upgrading librdf.I have installed all plugins for playing multimedia files.I searched for my problem but I could not find any solution. In addition to this I could not see any icons in GNOME desktop environment. If I try to open computer through PLACES in menu bar it reports that File Manager not responding.
I have a USB dongle to watch tv (Asus U3100 mini) that supports DVB-T. I live in portugal and DVB-T here uses MPEG4 h246 codec. Until now the only app I can have image and sound is VLC. However with VLC I can't schedule recordings and other features that totem + gnome-dvb-daemon has (or mythtv, also no sound with it). I have all related gstreamer plugins, ffmpeg, x264 libs and I've tried to install everything related with mpeg and aac. i don't know what I'm missing here, Video with totem is also a little jerky compared to VLC and xine.
I've got a clean Fedora 14 x86 install and whenever I attempt to play a video file, .avi .mkv .mpg doesn't matter, Totem crashes with the following four pop-ups:
An error occurred pa_stream_writable_size() failed: Connection terminated An error occurred Disconnected: Connection terminated An error occurred pa_stream_cork() failed: Connection terminated
My totem refused to playback any Video or Audio files.. I'm able to open any multimedia file but it simply refused to playback, track timing doesn't move and there is no error encountered. For Video file, I only able to view still Video upong moving the slider but it still refused to playback as normal.

i clicked the search option button.but it resulted like this. but earlier totem player was working fine before formatting my system. how to install those missing plugins ?how to make the totem player work with video files ?
