General :: Email Output Of Cron Command, Sends Email But No Content?
May 28, 2010Using CentOS. I have a cron setup to run this command: Code: /var/test.sh | mail -s "Test Cron" mr182@somewhere.com The email is sent but the output of the script is not in the email body, it's just blank. I know there is some output because there are some echo statements in the script.I don't want to get an email for all cronjobs, just this one.

General :: Virtualized Screen Resolution - Use A Larger Size Display That Is Configured By Default
Apr 18, 2010I have a 64 bit Ubuntu 9.10 workstation with two virtualized guest OSes using KVM/QEMU. Also both 64-bit. One is Fedora 12 the other is beta of Ubuntu 10.04.
The problem is that I would like to use a larger size display that is configured by default.
Both guest OSes have a maximum screen resolution of 1024x768. I would like to increase this to something like 1280x900 or 1440x900. The resolution of the host system is 1920x1080.
This configuration appears to be a result of the installation detecting the resolution being reported by the virtual screen during installation.
The only information I have found on the subject suggests modifying the xorg.conf file in the /etc/X11 directory. Neither guest system has this file.
I tried creating one by hand in the Fedora system and managed to render it completely unusable. Not a big deal as this is recently installed and can be reinstalled easily.

OpenSUSE Network :: Configured PHP To Use Sendmail - No Email Sent
Feb 2, 2010I am brand new to sendmail. I have a web application running on APACHE2. I'm told that it uses a PHP mail function to send emails for notifications. I configured my php.ini to use sendmail by adding the following line:
sendmail_path= /usr/sbin/sendmail -t -i (I've tried it without the i as well)
As far as the sendmail configuration is concerned, I used the GUI interface provided in the KDE environment (labeled Mail Transfer Agent). I inputted my outgoing mail server's IP address and login information. I also unchecked TLS since my mail server does not use that.
The problem is that no email ever gets sent. The web application states that the email was successfully sent. But I think its because it hands the email to PHP (leaving the responsibility to PHP)...then it believes the email is sent. My mail server uses plain text for authentication. Im not doing anything special with it. I told my mail server to accept connections from my linux box. I also checked my mail server's logs and see that no record of any connection from my linux server is logged.
So it seems my linux server isnt even communicating with my mail server. Both boxes are on the same network. My linux box can ping my mail server just fine. Firewall is disabled. How do I correctly configure sendmail to use an outgoing SMTP server to send emails. And how do I verify that setting works without using the web application I installed? (I want to verify whether or not the issue is with sendmail or the web application). Where do I find sendmail's logs so I can check to see why it's not hitting my mail server?

I can easily configure the send mail functionality using python inbuilt functions. But is there a way to create new content from an incoming email?
e.g. scenario > User sends email to support@university.edu and the issue management system picks up that email (somehow) and creates a new issue based on contents of the email (preferably in real time but some delay is acceptable).
I have looked at postfix and sendmail but neither allows you create new content (issue) from an incoming email. Any thoughts?

1. If the To Header contains "support@thisdomain" then run a program.
What this means is that, there is a program here in the office, and if some one sends an email to the support address, with an attachment of .exe and that person is a customer, then the program should be run. The only thing I need here is if there is a rule or script that can filter email header and run a program.
2. If the Exit Code from a previous 'Run program' rule is in the range of 1 to 100 and if the To Header contains "support@thisdomain" then send note1 "to<email address>" from <$SENDER$" "SUBJECT <AM ...>
and delete this message.
3. If the EXIT CODE from a previous 'Run program' rule is =0 and if the TO HEADER contains "support@thisdomain" then send note1 "to<email address>" from <$SENDER$" "SUBJECT <AM ...>
and delete this message.

Jul 31, 2010I recently got the problem that Thunderbird does not displays the messages anymore. The e-mails are downloaded form the server, a new email warning is given, but the e-mail cannot be displayed (in fact it is not loaded in the message window. I could only see the TB start page). I cannot even see the old messages.
However, when use "see message source" I can see the e-mails.
I also noticed this message in the error console:
server does not support RFC 5746, see CVE-2009-3555
I use Fedora 12 + thunderbird 3.0.6-1
On another linux box F9+ThB 2.0.0 I do not have that issue.
Today I upgraded to Fedora 13 + TB 3.1.1. This should be the latest one, but I still cannot see the message.
Also, on F13 I got another issue with Firefox 3.6.7. When I switch between the tabs, the tabs will turn black and will not get back to normal for 10-15 sec. It looks liek a random effect because often only part fo the page turns black. This issue appear in the windows of TB 3.1.1 since updated to F13.
My hardware is a Sony SR49 laptop with ATI mobility Radeon HD3470
Have Google chrome and this black page issue is not present. The same with Evolution mail, but I do not like it.
OpenSUSE :: 11.4 - Apache Cannot Display Content Anymore
Jun 4, 2011I have a fresh install OpenSuSE 11.4 installation. I have install Apache 2 ,I have change the content on the owner and group to chown wwwrun.nobody Directory /srv/www/htdocs. Now apache cannot display the content anymore there is no error in the error_log. If I change the content to my user the content is displayed. Why and how can I fix this the permission are the same as on the previous web server and I'm using index.php as the index page..

May 14, 2010This server is for dhcp and sharing purposes.I can actually access one nfs share via other ubuntu and osx clients on the network, then I configured another share with different mount point (different drive, different forlder, different contents).The problem is: when I connect form a client to the new one it displays the same exact content of the first share. It seems that is mounting the same share on a different mount point on the client and exporting the shares via the exportfs -ra command doesn't solve nothing.This is my fstab file

Feb 17, 2011I run opensuse 11.3/KDE:Factory. Recently, kmail updated to using akonadi. The following problem came up. My local emails are now managed by a "local folders" component of akonadi. The folder structure is displayed correctly in Kmail. However, no emails are shown for some folders. Emails still live in the .kde4/share/app/kmail directory hierarchy and can be imported into a new folder after moving them somewhere else. However, even after a fresh import sometimes emails are no longer recognized.

Sep 16, 2010I'm working with .conf files which I need to edit (with gedit for example) and an .sh file which I need to run occasionally.
And every time I open a .conf file it pops the "Do you want to run or display its content?" question.
I tried to configure Nautilus to stop prompting me every time by setting the Edit->Preferences->Behavior to Run executable text files when they are opened.
But now every time I try to run the .sh file it opens it in gedit instead of running it.
Is there anyway to set the behavior for specific file types?
Like so it'd open the .conf files in a text editor and run the .sh files?
(Maybe I should mention that I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 with Gnome)
