I just got DHCP working, but I need to add a "Pre-Defined Option" for the Cisco VoIP network here. At least that's what it's called in Windows. This "Pre-defined Option 150" is necessary on Windows dhcp servers tied to Cisco VoIP networks, but I have no idea where to start getting that set up in Fedora.

I have a small office setup all on public ips and was trying to work out the best way to move the wearhouse computers on to private ips and leave offices on public ips I have server with 2 nics and i have two switches What i am after is how to set it up so all computers can still see each other but private can not access net All the office computers via switch 1 Public IPs All the wearhouse computers via switch 2 Private IPs

Ive tried on multiple occasions to setup a dhcp server, but all the google searches return legitimate results it seems, and ill set everything up, except the last few instructions i have to configure /etc/dhcp3/dhcpd.conf and /etc/default/dhcp3-server, but ubuntu says its not there.Im running Ubuntu Server 11.04 and using nano to edit files

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am encountering a strange problem on my VOIP setup Basically, I have a asterisk appliance IP04. I have setup all the extensions and everything. I use a Linksys PAP2T as an ATA remotely. Now, my problem is the ATA sometimes is okay can call SIP and PSTN but sometimes I just can't hear anything. I thought it was my ISP blocking the VOIP packets but I have tried both the SIP softphone and IAX2 softphone on my PC. For IAX2, it works perfectly however in the SIP, I can hear the other end but they cannot hear me.
These are the ports I have opened on my router
1.) UDP 5060 - SIP Port
2.) UDP 10000 - 20000 - RTP Port
3.) UDP 4569 - IAX2
Do I need to open both TCP/UDP for these ports or UDP should be enough? These are the test cases:
1.) Using my WiFi Connection and a analog phone connected to ATA --> Sometimes working sometimes not and sometimes you can call SIP but the other end cannot hear you
2.) Using IAX2 in WiFi connection --> This one works perfectly
3.) Using a mobile phone connected to WiFi Network --> The same...but you can call and go out on PSTN but the other end cannot hear you
4.) Using a mobile phone connected via 3G --> Works perfectly but as expected it is quite slow and voice quality is awful
I want to use SIP rather than IAX2 because it is widely used and since my ATA doesn't support IAX2. Are there other ports I need to open or configure?
I'm trying to build a Fedora 12 cluster to run DHCP on top of two servers using pacemaker and drbd. The pacemaker runs great but i'm having the hardest time getting DRBD installed.

First of all here's my network topology:
I have a cable modem hooked up to eth0 on my linux box, and this is where my internet comes from and works fine.
I also have another ethernet, eth1, which is connected to a wireless router in bridge mode. My end goal is to have my linux box sit between my internal network and the outside world. Thus it will need to act as a DHCP server, a NAT and as a firewall. Right now I'm just focused on the DHCP part.
Here is a copy of my dhcpd.conf file:

However the issue is that it is still listening on eth0. and not issuing any leases on my internal network.
What I think is happening is that it's not recognizing the 10.0.1.x subnet because my router is issuing leases on the 169.254.193.x, even though I put it on bridge mode. But I could be totally off mark.
Also running tcpdump on eth1, I can see requests coming in for dhcp, but my server isn't responding to them.
is it possible to setup a DHCP server using the loopback or a virtual interface? I installed Sun VirtualBox on my fedora system and want to try and kickstart them from within the same box on a virtual network. Is this possible and has anyone done it? I only have a single NIC in the box and it is on my public network.

have f13 runing and finished configuring dhcp. but i tried to start the service using '/etc/init.d/dhcpd restart and service dhcpd start', i failed in return. pls what could be responsible? tried starting the service but still failed. could anything be stopping it?output from /var/log/messages says;

On my server Linux Redhat i want to configure dhcp server but when i check the dhcp status the dhcpd was stopped and i try to invoked or to start it failed. Even when open the graphical mode service configuration, check the box and click start the output error message is dhcp failed. the error: Starting dhcpd:Failed.

I have tried many and every time I try to start the service they fail. Like I said it does not go on the Internet. No matter what I do when I try to start the dhcpd service it fails code...

This is my Dhcpd.conf file
This shows that I have 3 custom option in RED.
Now when I try to pull an Ip from the 96.63.0.0/24 subnet I do not see the options in the DHCPACK from the server. The client gets an IP 96.63.0.12 but no options are present in the DHCPACK or any other DHCP transaction. I have confirmed this trhough tcpdumps on the server and client.

Following situation:
I'm trying to make a network-installation of my rootserver with CentOS 5.4 x86_64.
This server is hosted by 1and1 a company of the united internet group, which is a big player in europe.
The network environment of 1and1 is providing classless static routes via dhcp by using the dhcp option 121.
If i'm right anaconda does not support this dhcp option 121 and therefore does not "ask" for the routes.
Without the routes configured the traffic does not get through and the network installation fails.
An installation from fedora12 (anaconda 12.46) works without any problems.
Is there someone in the dev team that can patch or backport it?
I have an issue with the DHCP clients in a lab environment I am building. The lab is in a dns subdomain but the clients should be able to resolve any machine in the lab subdomain or the parent by using just the hostname. According to everything I have read, the client resolver should do this automagically, trying first the naked hostname, then the FQDN, then walking up the tree of parent domains. But it doesn't.
So I thought I'd just have the dhcp server set the domain search list to include both the local and parent domain. But adding "option domain-search" to dhcpd.conf causes dhcpd to fail on start up. Does the current version of dhcpd in CentOS 5.3 really not support this option?

I would like to send a specific option 15, domain-name, to a few clients on a network from a specific manufacturer. Usually all clients [URL] from the DHCP server, but when a client with mac address bellonging to manufaturer A asks for an IP address I would like to give them [URL] How would I go about doing this? Feels like it should be possible but I am not sure how.. I remember doing something similar in a microsoft DHCP server using vendor-identifier and passing out a vendow-specific option.
