Nov 12, 2009I was noticed the below error message when I was installing the SKYPE linux version downloaded from the official web site of SKYPE. Actually I have already installed the QT4 with the highest version correctly even I can used the QT UI for programming now. But still I faced the problem of lack of libraries afterwards.

Bump: The skype is running fine by the below link. [URL]. This version needn't those QT libraries again? It's strange. In before I was using the version called "skype-2.1.0.47-fc10.i586.rpm" that also downloaded from SKYPE official website. But it's not working as I mentioned above.
Fedora :: GRUB Error After Installing F12 / Solution For This?
Jan 2, 2010I currently have two hard drives. One of them is a dedicated Windows 7 x64 500gb drive. The other, is a 152gb drive that I plan to install Fedora in. When I booted from the live CD, I chose the option to use the entire 152gb disk and to boot from the 152gb disk. I'm not sure if I did something wrong there, but now, GRUB won't detect Windows 7 or Fedora 12.
I would also like to leave the Windows 7 hdd untouched.
I previously had a non-working OpenSUSE installation on the 152gb drive

This is due to a missing file, a corrupt package or corrupt media. Please verify your installation source. " I have download the fedora 14 iso twice the same problem i got while installing. I install fedora 10 or 11 it install successfully.

Fedora :: Error "fatal Error Bla-bla-bla Installing Netsniff-ng-..."
May 25, 2011i tries to upgrade my fc14 to fc15 using preupgrade. during installation packages process i get an error "fatal error bla-bla-bla installing netsniff-ng-...". i've booted in fc14 (in emergency mode) and manually removed old netsniff-ng package and installed new package. after that i've booted in preupgrade process. it finishes successfull. but now i can't boot in fc15 - i get "kernel panic" error. i've opened grub.conf and there is no 'initrd' section and there is no initramfs for fc15 in /boot folder. i've tried to boot fc15 with initrd /initramfs-bla-bla-fc14.i686.PAE.img. fc15 booted, but i think something wrong, because network not working, and there is only "lo" in ifconfig. what can i do?

This is the first time I have received this error. I've now tried the following methods of resolving this problem with no luck:

yum clean all

yum clean metadata
yum clean dbcache
yum makecache
3. Physically removing the /var/libs/yum folder, and creating a new "yum" folder, and then step two above to rebuild it. Either way the problem then still returns in terminal.

No new package. I tried to download it from virtualbox.org (VirtualBox-4.1 Fedora14-i386). It failed on 19.0.2011 giving message that link is not operational. Today i.e. on 20.07.2011, I tired once again yum update. No new package. I tried to download from virtualbox.org. download succeed but it did not installed giving error message regarding conflicting files. Till not in repository?

Jul 22, 2011I'm new to Linux and am trying to install libcurl to use in my c++ code on my fedora 14 system. I went to the libcurl site and downloaded the binary package for Redhat Linux 7.2 on i386. There was no download for Fedora.It was an .rpm package and so I used rpm -i libcurl4-7.21.7-1.i386.rpm to install it.
I received the following errors:

The program I was trying to install is a robot simulator which performs lots of matrix manipulation and linear system solving. I followed every step in the installation guide, except for this one:
On Ubuntu, all you need to do is install the following packages from the package manager:
libblas-dev
liblapack-dev
As shown above, I am using RHEL 6, which has different libraries with Ubuntu. I tried "yum search" and installed these libraries instead: lapack.x86_64 : Numerical linear algebra package libraries blas.x86_64 : The Basic Linear Algebra Subprograms library.

Feb 5, 2009i am trying to install fedora 10 on a system running RH 8.0 core 2?pentium. I 1st tried mounting a DVD, there is no /dev/dvd do I entered mount -r -t iso9660 /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom i got this error:
mount block device /dev/cdrom is write-protected, mounting read-only mount: No medium found.
Then I then tried mounting a cdrom (cd-r)with the same command and got this error:
mount: block device /dev/cdrom is write-protected, mounting read-only
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad super block on /dev/cdrom
or too many mounted file systems
I have looked at other threads, but no answer to particular issue.

Jun 27, 2011If I have a hard-disk with Ubuntu fully installed on it and I want to - all of a sudden - use Windows XP, is it mandatory that I firstly format the hard-disk first? So far, I have used two versions of Windows XP; one of them is from a few years before the other. Both copies of Windows XP when in start-up from booting from CD are causing errors. One of them is a BSOD error (0x0000007B) and the next Windows CD is stopping and giving me an error with setupdd.sys (error code 4). Is it required that the hard-disk is formatted before you even put a Windows boot CD in?
