my task is to store the data to a file at server sent via HTTP POST, i written suitable cgi script in C, but the PROBLEM is that i can't complete the task, I guess i require server permission to do so, how to configure server or how to get access right from server to store data to a file.

I am even unable to PING the real ip (IP for DSL modem).(Firefox gave me error message "Connection Timed out) I have tried to ping it from the internet.I can PING the DSL from Apache without any problem.

I am administoring a few websites and the latest website to be deployed has a few "unable to check htaccess file, ensure it is readable, referer: " errors in the apache-error log.
That is fine, becuase the directory doesnt contain a .htaccess file.
Is there a setting whereby I can turn off this error ?
I dont want to turn off checking for .htaccess files because some directorys have this file and use it.
We have apache installed at a directory other than the default location. There are two httpd.conf files on the server, one at the apache installation directory, and the other one is the default one at /etc/httpd/conf. The apache ran very well with the customized httpd.conf before, but after I installed php 5, the server seems taking the default httpd.conf and doesn't display the html pages which are installed at our apache directory. How to let the server know not to use the default httpd.conf and use the customized one instead?

Then I tried to configure them. I added the following content to the end of Apache httpd.conf:

Then I run /path/to/apachectl start, and saw the message:

Then I remembered that I didn't include the rewrite module while making install apache. So I removed the 2 lines I just added to httpd.conf.

The problem with both of these is that the directory /usr/local/apache/conf/userdata does not exist, much less the full path to either of those files.
I just did a clean install of FC12 x86_64 and want to configure tomcat to run behind apache httpd. What is the easiest way to accomplish this? I'm a newbie at server configuration so detailed instructions would be nice
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have installed libapache2-mod-bw and it works great to throttle download speeds to the clients (i.e. - the bandwidth out of the server can be controlled just peachy).However, I need to limit the bandwidth *into* the server from specific networks because my WAN links are tiny and do not have QoS or shaping of any sort (I know, I know - contracts in place - will be fixed in November - not my design).I know that there are ways to throttle this at the interface level (e.g. - wondershaper) but I'd like to allow full bandwidth to the clients that are connected locally. The server in question is for web file transfers (under apache2 on 443) and expected file sizes are up to 2GB so a per-network limit would prove helpful.

I test the code in Centos it wotks. I change the dest folder in Fedora to /tmp it works, but it only work on /tmp. neither /tmp/abc nor /temp. I guess it's a setting problem on apache or php. I also copy http.conf and php.ini from Centos, but mod_file_cache and mod_mem_cache not find in Fedora.

I have Apache Server working online under Fedora Core 6. But before I installed and configured everything, I've been testing in Fedora 12. The problem surges here, when I start the httpd service, every supuse 404 action on a web browser, takes me to localhost. I mean, if I enter google.com, no error, just goes to localhost, http://asdasd, no error, gives back localhost. I used to ignore the problem 'cause I thought it was a problem on my apache, but when I installed the Server on the Fedora Core 6 machine, I found that I have the same problem there. Of course, it only occurs when I am browsing through the same machine that has httpd started. Does anyone know how to change that??

I have a Fedora 11 system and cbq.init-v0.7.3 in it. Now I want to restrict upload speed from my ftp server to Internet (eth1). According to docs I've made a simple file /etc/sysconfig/cbq/cbq- 00.inet_upload_restrict:

I am now trying to setup a VSFTP server where local users can upload files to there home directory so that Apache can serve web pages straight from the directories of system user home/accounts giving users the ability to run their own web sites which are hosted off the main server [tutorial here: [url]
So far i have been able to serve/display index.html files from the users home directory [url] but so far i cant upload files to any user home directory, every time i try to upload a file with filezilla i get this error message: 553 Could not create file. Critical file transfer error
I have searched online for similar problems like mine and so far i've tried alot of the solution but none seem to work. I'm confused, dont know where i went wrong, i put the users in a group called ftpusers and here are the permissions on the users (test, ftpuser & testftp) home directory. have a look an tell me where i went wrong :(

I want to upload files from my computer to an FTP site and I don't want to upload files that are already on the server. So I need a tool that finds out which local files that are different from the ones on the server, or that don't exists on the server.
Some requirements:
I'm using a cheap provider that does not support rsync or ssh, so I can only use FTP. I generate the files before uploading them, so comparing timestamps is meaningless. I've tried lftp with the mirror command. It's slow (I think it uploads all the files). I upload the files from different computers, so I can't use sitecopy, which uses a local database to keep track of which files are on the server. I'd like to be able to upload all changed files with one command. Preferably no GUI application. And it needs to run in Ubuntu.
I was thinking about creating a tool similar to sitecopy, but which stores checksums of all the files on the FTP server on the server itself. But then I thought that there may already be such a tool.
