Fedora Networking :: Wireless Gets Disconnected Very Often?
Aug 8, 2009
I've fully updated F11 running on my laptop. I've BCM4312 in my machine. The issue is that the wireless connection gets disconnected so often that it's irritating my like hell.
I'm having problems with my Internet. I just recently downloaded 10.04 (went from 8.04) and now I can't get online! I could yesterday! I don't have access to the router, but the internet works great on all my Windows computers. On my panel it show's my wireless connection bars with an exclamation mark and says disconnected. I don't know what to do! It's a Toshiba Satellite computer.
Also, I can't update anything, or install anything because I don't have direct access to the router. I know there is a lot of information about this problem already, but everything I've seen needs me to download new drivers. If you know how to do it from one computer to another I can do that. I'm just not very techy.
This morning I connected to internet, using the 'hidden network' feature of Ubuntu, like I always do. In the beginning it worked well, but after a while, while playing a game, I got disconnected. As I closed this game, I discovered that Ubuntu was asking for the WPA key (it was already filled out correctly) There were no changes made in the network while I was playing. My brother and his girlfriend can both connect using their Windows 7 laptops, so the network itself should be allright.
I am quite new to Ubuntu, so please give me easy to follow steps. So, I have just installed Ubuntu 10.10 x64, but cant get my wireless to work. It detects my networks and tries to connect to them - infinitely, whithout success.I have tried it on an unprotected and on a WPA2-personal protected network with the same results. My card is a RaLink rt3090.
I recently installed Ubuntu. I just installed ndiswrapper so I could install my wireless PCI card drivers
I did that and it is recognized and so is the network I want to connect to. But for some reason, it just wont connect. It will spend a long time trying to connect, but then just says "disconnected". It's not like I have a bad connection or anything. My internet on Windows is fast.
Since I have started to use Ubuntu 9.10, I have had multiple wireless connection troubles. First of all, it says the signal is 2 bars, when in fact my router is right next to me as of right now. Second of all, when I try to connect to it, it asks for my password 3 times, then says disconnected. I'm on a hardwire right now, it's across my keyboard, and I'm in a tangled mess.
Ive installed 10.04 on my laptop and notebook. It works perfectly on laptop. On notebook the problem is it finds no Wireless network and just says disconnected. I have no idea how to connect it, I tried reinstalling Ubuntu but no luck. I tried looking it up on internet but no luck in finding help. its an MSI U130. The wireless is defently turned on.
I have a Hp pavillion dv2000 and i installed Ubuntu 10.10 the wireless works really fine and fast until i decided to buy a windows vista and installed it, i didn't know that installing windows would affect other OS already installed, after installing vista I installed Ubuntu 10.10 again and the wireless wont detect anything and it would say on the wireless option 'discinnected' and the wireless led light stays orange instead of blue. How do I fix this problem??
I have successfully installed xubuntu on my 2nd partition of hard disk through unetbootin. everything works fine except wireless network. my ethernet works good, i am tethering through my android mobile no problem....just wireless says disconnected where as it is enabled. As far I know its sould scan all the available wireless AP near me and it should appear below wireless networks, and from there I should be able to select the AP which I want to connct...
My Ubuntu when i start it up, go to the wireless networks , try to connect to my network it trys to connect stops than says disconnected. My internet card is a Cisco Aironet wireless (idk the model number)
This is not the common problem that's on the stickied thread. I'm able to connect to my wireless network perfectly. I switch between Windows to game and Linux for desktop, coding, and hosting, so I can tell it has something to do with ubuntu 10.10. When I'm connected to my wireless network, at random times, my internet begins to slowdown, then I get disconnected from the internet, but the taskbar says I'm connected. This problem only happens in ubuntu and not Windows for some strange reason.
The applications that are usually open do not cause it, because it still does it even though I have little applications open (Google Chrome, gedit). When I'm on Teamspeak 3, I notice my ping rises to the 1000s randomly, and I get disconnected. Once again that only happens on Ubuntu.
I just installed 10.10 for netbooks, and apparently it's using the RT2800PCI driver for my wireless NIC in my EeePC 901. That driver is causing havoc with my school network, I keep getting disconnected, and loading websites is really slow.
Now I know that 10.04 uses a different driver RT2860 which seems to work far better on this network.
How to change to the driver from lucid. Or does anyone know of an even better solution? I've heard rumors about something called ndiswrapper...
I am getting trouble with knetwork manager. I created a new connection by scanning and connecting using knetwork manager. But every time connection gets disconnected and ask for password and again it connects.
This computer is using a Linksys WMP54G network adapter, and running Linux Ubuntu 8.10 with all of the latest updates. It was working fine for a couple months, then one day the internet quit working on it. I've tried playing with all of the settings, and can't get it to connect to the network. The windows computers in the house work fine. I also hooked my Linksys WUSB54GS USB network adapter and that worked right away. When I put the WMP54G back in, it will detect the networks but it won't connect. It gives the message, "the network connection has been disconnected", right away. Can someone please help with this. I work doing tech support for a small ISP and am excellent troubleshooting Windows but Linux is another story.
Wifi getting disconnected very frequently in Fedora 10. I am facing issues in my Toshiba satellite laptop, after a fresh install of fedora - 10. After the install, The wi fi connection is dropping off very often, and even on keeping wpa_supplicant and wifiroamd in "active" state, the connectivity needs to be established manually.
Installed 10.04 yesterday, cannot get wireless to complete connection:wifi hosts are recognized and listed, two green dots are lit on systempanel, but blue arrow only ceses circling with the message "wirelessnetwork disconnected"
ifconfig eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:a0:d1:27:43:d5 UP BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
cisco vpn client 4.8.5 I have no problem to connect it, but got disconnected every minute after I opened a terminal and ssh to company's server. Not sure what's causing the problem. There's no problem to connect to windows.
I have installed Fedora 13 and updated it. I simply cant use ssh to connect to this Fedora, not even locally. I have enabled port22 in firewall settings and nothing. Tried to disable firewall completely and nothing. I have disabled SELinux (not sure if it has something to do with this, but... ) and nothing. Entered "ALL: ALL" in /etc/hosts.allow and still nothing. Dont know what to do anymore.
Here is what happens when I try to ssh to this machine, even from it: [flibio@surf ~]$ ssh localhost warning: Need basic cursor movement capability, using vt100 flibio's password: Authentication successful. Disconnected; connection lost (Connection closed.). Connection to localhost closed. [flibio@surf ~]$
Looking into Services > sshd and it says "This service is dead." So I tried: [root@surf etc]# service sshd restart Stopping sshd: [FAILED] Starting sshd: : OpenSSH_5.4p1 on : FATAL: Creating listener failed: port 22 probably already in use! .....
And still I get disconnected whenever I try to ssh to this machine from anywhere. Services says that sshd is allways dead, even restarting it but I can only restart it by doing a pkill sshd before.
i am using broadcom wireless (4312) on my laptop with FC15 and configured it using . initially it ran great without any problem (for a week). but from yesterday, every 15 minutes or so, my wifi started getting disconnected, showing the wireless login screen . I can reconnect only by rebooting or restarting network manager service.
Recently, I had the courage of installing Fedora 11 on my laptop while risking of trashing my Windows XP. Fortunately, the installation went fine and windows and fedora seems to be working together. But I needed to reinstall Fedora because I didn't do the partitioning right. After that the problem arises. I couldn't connect to the wlan. The first installation it was working fine. Now I can't. I select the network, enter the password and then it just says "Disconnected" or something like that then nothing else happens. So I had to reinstall it again thinking I did something wrong on the installation. But still it wasn't working. But it seems to be working when I boot from the live cd. I must have messed up my network configuration.
currently using Ubuntu 10.10 and I have a problem with my wireless internet connection, which often gets disconnected and then re-connected automaticallyonce in every few minutes. This is really annoying
I have just installed Ubuntu 10.10 64bit on my laptop Toshiba Satellite A665-S6065 and I can connect to wired network but I can not connect to wireless network "Network Connections disconnected". Im following this post http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=6183681
1. Machine Brand and Model (PC/Laptop): Toshiba Satellite A665-S6065 2. Wireless Brand, Model and Wireless Chipset:
My Ubuntu web server is left on all the time, sometimes I notice that it is disconnected from the network so I have to goto the server and re-enter the password in the network connections, this allows me back onto the network. Why is the server being disconnected? (The computer is running all the time because if it re-starts the terminal window is open on the screen). And how can I stop it from happening? It's got to the point where I need to check it every hour which really defeats the purpose of having it!
I've spent the majority of my day doing this and am pulling my hair out... Fresh install of Desktop v9.10 (32 bit) on old Dell Latitude D505 laptop. All works fine apart from wireless connection. lspci shows the card as: 01:03.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4306 802.11b/g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 03)
....
But still no wireless networks are available. Clicking on the network icon in the system bar (top right) there's just a "disconnected" message under "Wireless Networks".
I downloaded Ubuntu 10.04 and burnt it to a CD so I could try Ubuntu before installing it via Live CD. It automatically displayed the window where you download drivers for your hardware, I activated the Broadcom drivers, and WiFi worked fine. So then I installed it inside of Windows (as a dual-boot). Now, when I open the hardware managing window (I forget what it's called), there are no drivers listed to be activated. Since I am unable to activate the Broadcom divers, I can't get internet over wifi. Also, I don't have access to a wired connection, but I do have blank CD's and a USB stick (if that helps). How can I fix this?
Unfortunately, when I try to install Debian off the DVD, the wireless gets disconnected right when it tells me to choose my method of connecting to the net. It then gives me three choices of connecting - wired, unknown, and wireless. I must be missing something, because when I choose wireless, it says it fails, and cannot find anything to connect to. I input the SSID and password manually and it says its not there. So I quit the install and go back to the desktop and reconnect no problems.
Is there a way to stop net access if a vpn is disconnected? I will be using a vpn for all my internet access on a specific machine, but if the connection is dropped, I don't want that box to continue to have access to the net until the vpn is re-established.
Everything worked fine until I downloaded some Ubuntu upgrades. Now, every time I try to connect to internet via network manager it says: " Network: Disconnected - you are now offline". so what to do...
The title message appears when I log in. Neither wired nor wireless network adapters show in ifconfig output. Network manager shows a simple networking disabled greyed out message. Both adapters work in live cd boot. Everything was working properly before; I'm not sure what happened.
