Networking :: Ipp2p - Does Not Mark P2p

Jan 14, 2011

I have setup debian lenny as router - kernel 2.6.26, iptables 1.4.4 and compiled xtables-addons 1.17 There are these rules in:

iptables -t mangle -A PREROUTING -j CONNMARK --restore-mark
iptables -t mangle -A PREROUTING -m mark ! --mark 0 -j ACCEPT
iptables -t mangle -A PREROUTING -m ipp2p --bit -j MARK --set-mark 1
iptables -t mangle -A PREROUTING -m mark --mark 1 -j CONNMARK --save-mark
iptables -t mangle -A POSTROUTING -m mark --mark 1 -j ACCEPT

Unfortunatelly if I try dowload something via router by ktorrent, then there are minimum of packets with id 1 (I find that at the last rule). There are only a few 100B packet with id 1 eventhought I downloaded a few MB with k torrent

Fedora Installation :: New Install Fedora 10 Need To Compile Kernel?

I am very much a Newbie to Linux/Fedora. Just installed Fedora 10, but having some problems with hardware driver recognition, particularly a wireless network PCI card. ndiswrapper is looking for a kernel in usr/src/kernels, which doesn't exist.In Fedora, is it necessary to compile a kernel? Looking through the FAQ at kernelnewbies, states to extract the kernel to a Linux directory, in usr/src, which also doesn't exist.

Ubuntu Networking :: Compile Error 2 - Realtek 8192

Jun 2, 2011

I'm trying to install a wireless USB adapter to a machine so I can get it internet access, unfortunately when I try to run the provided install script I'm getting an error 2, and I've never encountered that before. In fact I'm getting another error which makes me concerned that they just failed at coding this driver...

Code:
/tmp/driver/Linux/driver/rtl8192CU_linux_v2.0.1170.20101112/core/rtw_pwrctrl.c:
In function 'LeaveAllPowerSaveMode':

make[1]: Leaving directory '/usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.32-28-generic'
make: *** [modules] Error 2
Compile make driver error: 2, Please check error Mesg

Something is clearly broken but I am not sure what, I'm awfully new to this, and wireless didn't really exist the last time I used Linux...though this doesn't appear to be specifically related to the wireless function of the driver, it's a make compile problem, it's just mysterious.

Ubuntu Networking :: Alfa AWUS036NH Can't Driver Compile?

Jun 5, 2011

I have a Alfa AWUS036NH that I have downloaded the lastest drivers from Alfa. I have read for 3 days straight and tryed so many fixes I cant remember them all. My problem is that it connects then after about 15 minutes the connection degrades and i have to unplug and replug in and then it goes down sooner each time. I have edited the black list and blacklisted all the 2870 chipsets as mine has 3070 chipset. once i edited the blacklist I can no longer boot into linux unless I unplug my Alfa (usb) and then once I am into the UI I can plug it back in but the wirless management client up by the top right of my screen that came with ubuntu no longer sees the card and when I do the show devices command from a terminal it doesn't show the adapter either. I also have a wired eth0 that works and a wireless wlan0 thats an internal Aethros that works. After blacklisting though it no longer shows it's name in the wireless manager but does show the connections. I am getting errors when trying to compile the manufactors drivers. I have renamed the 2 files as per several posts and still errors. I have read it works if you load the intel 2200 drivers. I got the compiler and everything but am missing the ieee80211 wireless what evers to compile and make it work. I am at wits end at what to do now to fix it.

Ubuntu Networking :: Compile Drivers Or Hostapd From Source + Ath9k = No 11n

Nov 19, 2010

I've been running hostapd for a while in 11g mode with great success. Having upgraded the router machine to maverick today, I had a poke at getting hostapd working in 11n mode without too much fuss. From cursory reading of old forum posts, this appears to now be built in functionality without needing to compile drivers or hostapd from source - this is borne out by a few 11n-related lines in the default configuration file.

When adding those two lines to my config file, though, I get the same error message I did a few years ago when trying this out for the first time:

Ubuntu Networking :: How To Make/compile The Driver For A Wireless Card

Feb 16, 2011

I've been trying to make/compile the driver for a wireless card. The card is usb, it's titled Micronext MN-WD550M and seems to use the rtl8712 driver.Firstly, though I did this once two years ago I seem to have completely forgotten how to install a driver in ubuntu.

Secondly, I'm not sure I have the right driver anyway since in the notes in the readme it says it is for i386 (I run amd 64). The driver is here [URL] Thirdly, after clicking through various readmes and documentation without feeling any more intelligent, I then tried using ndiswrapper to install a windows driver and ubuntu would crash if the usb wireless card was plugged in. Blarg.I feel like this should be so simple I'm going to make a clean installation of ubuntu 10.10 shortly (for various unrelated reasons) so anything I messed up with ndiswrapper should be back to normal.

Fedora :: Compile With Gcc And Llvm In 11?

Apr 2, 2010

I use a fedora-11 system and recently I installed llvm ( sudo yum -y install llvm llvm-docs llvm-devel ). When I search for llvm I get them in /usr/bin. some of the links to the binaries are broken(llvm-gcc,llvm-g++,llvm-cpp,etc.) the include files are found within /usr/include/llvm and libs at /usr/lib/llvm. How to compile them using g++? I tried to compile the kaleidoscope code given in the tutorial [URL] as per directed, but it fails to compile..

I get this...

toy.cpp:5:30: error: llvm/LLVMContext.h: No such file or directory
toy.cpp:352: error: getGlobalContext was not declared in this scope
toy.cpp: In member function virtual llvm::Value* NumberExprAST:odegen():

I cannot find the LLVMContext.h file too. so i guess this might be a version problem. what should i do to make it work?

Fedora :: YUM Install Vs Compile ... Which Is Better?

Jun 29, 2010

I have been playing around with linux for a bit ... but i am getting to the point where i would like to know what is actually happening to the system .

Scenario ... I would like to install Mozilla Thunderbird On mozilla thunderbird website, current version is 3.1

However, when i run 'yum search thunderbird' i get a version 3.0.5.xxx

Why is repository not up to date?

So is it better to install through YUM or should i download the source and compile it?

If i compile it, will the YUM keep track of it if an update is made?

If compiled, how can i get it so it appears in the menu system (alacarte?)

Is it possible to extract and install source files through YUM (so it can keep track of the package)?

Fedora :: Can't Compile From C Source

Jun 4, 2011

I often like to use packages that have to be compiled from source. However, even after downloading gcc, I can't compile anything, because the configure script gives me a message about being unable to execute C programs. I gather that this is because of a "noexec" option in /proc/self/mounts. Problem is that the file apparently cannot even be edited by root. Perhaps there is an alternate type of fedora distribution I could use?

Fedora :: SWFTools (0.8.1 / 0.9.0) Will Not Compile Properly

Nov 5, 2009

I'm new to Linux. I have recently made my first Linux install using Fedora 11 and Alfresco with a view to running a PoC ECM server. After some initial teething troubles and a seemingly exponential learning curve, Fedora and ALfresco are now installed and running bar a couple of things. Alfresco relies on swftools to automatically transform file types and swftools does not come installed either with Fedora, as an available package to download within the Add/Remove software program or with Alfresco.

I have installed the dependencies of swftools (zlib-devel, libjpeg-devel, giflib-devel, freetype-devel, gcc, gcc-c++ and make) but for some reason neither swftools-0.8.1 nor swftools-0.9.0 will compile properly. I even installed lame in case but still problems. This is what I do to install:
tar -zvxf swftools-0.9.0.tar.gz *stuff happens*
cd swftools-0.9.0
./configure --disable-lame (lame disabled as advised by Alfresco Wiki) *stuff happens*
make *stuff happens with errors*

The errors include :
warning: initialization from incompatible pointer type
invalid conversion from 'const char*' to 'char*'
Error 2 etc...
