I've got Fedora core 12 - I'm ex windows user.I have these 3 websites to maintain.These are in finnish language. So called pikalaina sites: Now I would like to add some database driven functionality to these sites.I don't wanna use command line - too dangerous for type errors.MySQL own programs is not very good.In windows I used to use MysqlYog, it was nice.Is there a good graphical MySQL client available for Fedora core 12 ?

At the moment I managed to boot it from a CF card.(normally it boots kernel.2200 from a host PC but to avoid interference with the operating system, a flight simulator, I want to try it first with the system booted from a flash card)
I tried to install the 32 bit Linux driver from the ELO-website but did not succeed.I was following the manual.I managed to extract the files and copied them to the right directory but when I type in "make" the command is not recognised. I don't know if it would ever work, but when I tried "make" on my Ubuntu machine I get error #2?! What does that mean.
I'm looking for a Micro Distro based on Debian, to install it on a bootable USB stick and to use it as a Thin Client.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI just finished setting up a new computer lab at my kids school, using LTSP and 22 think clients connecting to Ubuntu.Everything is going beautifully, and I'm using static IPs and autologin so that when each computer is turned on it logs itself in with no userintervention. The problem is, when users go to the top right system menu and select "Shut Down", they are brought out to the login screen for a second and then immediately logged back in automatically to the Desktop. How should I be shutting down the thin clients?he only way to do it at the moment is to have everyone hold the power button down until the CPU shuts off, but it feels sloppy and unhealthy.

is there anyone knows how to setup and configure thin client in edubuntu 10.04?. From the beginning installation until thin client work.we have 2 set of computers. 1 computer installed edubuntu 10.04 and installed LTSP (Linux Terminal Server Project) in the OS without NIC Card. And the other computers has only NIC card.. We setup it in the bios as a "First Boot" Network Card. We connect 2 computers using "pair-to-pair connection". There and after, we restart the 2 computers. "Nothings Happened".

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm attempting to take Ubuntu 10 down to an image as small as possible to support Citrix Receiver. We currently log them into a browser interface using Firefox where they authenticate against a Citrix DDC and then launch the plug-in. I'm wondering if there is a simple way to determine what services I can shutoff to limit the footprint of the OS. Some of the machines have only 256MB of RAM. They run the plug-in just fine, but there's a lot background activity affecting the machines...

View 1 Replies View RelatedEnvironment: Ubuntu 9.04 Server/Thin Client. I tried to use KTouch in a classroom with 20 students working at thin client workstations. I thought KTouch was supposed to keep track of the students' typing statistics, what lessons they completed, etc. However, the students get no statistics or any record of what they have done.
Where can I find information on how KTouch is supposed to record/store this information?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install and configure LTSP on a server for a HP thin client to boot off. The version of Ubuntu that I am using is 11.04 x86 and it is a fresh install on a dual core system with 2GB RAM. I followed a guide which comprised of these commands.
sudo apt-get install ltsp-server-standalone openssh-server sudo ltsp-build-client or if your on a 64-bit system with 32-bit machines do sudo ltsp-build-client arch i386 for editing the servers IP values use /etc/ltsp/dhcpd.conf after that you need to restart DHCP server sudo /etc/init.d/dhcp3-server restart
and update sshkeys -sudo ltsp-update-sshkeys and if you updated dhcpd.conf then you need to update you image also by typing in terminal ltsp-update-image
Everything seemed to install as it should but when I try to boot from the thin client it just times out and says no DHCP or proxy invites received. I turned DHCP off on the router and even tried another router, but I still get nothing. I am at a bit of a loose end and I hope someone on here can point me in the right direction of where I am going wrong.
I am in school for my CIS degree and the book I am using this session covers Windows XP and Fedora Core 4. I am having trouble finding & downloading Fedora Core 4. My question is: Is there a big enough difference between Fedora Core 4 and Fedora Core 14 that I would not be able to use 14 instead of 4?
View 14 Replies View RelatedWe are using thin client systems in our work environment. There is a central ubuntu server and by using thin clients, we are connecting to our homes. The problem is when I try to install an application, it reported me that I had 200 mb of disk space. But when i try to look from console, I see that /home folder has over 250 gb s of disk space. Even when I try to look from baobab, Disk Usage Analyzer in Ubuntu, i see that my home file system is full.
So what's the reason that I am receiving different kinds of disk space report from different sources? Our system admin here told me that some applications foolishly try to see the physical devices on the thin client and got confused as a result. Is this true?

View 13 Replies View RelatedI have created a virtual machine of a system running Fedora Core 4 and I need to upgrade it to Fedora Core 10. Based on what I have read, it iis possible so I started theupgrade process. I get an error message saying that /dev/hda6 (my root paritition does not exist) even though it does.
Does the installer need to read a label from /etc/fstab? I executed tune2fs -L / /dev/hda6 amd ,and added LABEL=/ for the corresponding entry for fstab. but the FEDORA CORE 10 is still giving the same problems for the installation process. Should I upgrade to an intermediate verson like Fedora Core 7 first?
My brother and I want to set up a server off of which we would provide the processing power for several thin clients. Is it possible to serve the thin clients with images of Windows XP to run?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI did a horrible mistake due to lapse in my concentration. Here is the 80 GB IDE disk geometry:
=> C: Windows XP SP2 15 GB partition
=> D: NTFS parition - 10 GB
=> E:F:G:H: NTFS partitions on the Windows Extended partition.
=> On the same Extended partition, there exists Linux /swap and /root partitions.
What happened was:
a) I wanted to delete the H: parition which was residing adjacent to Linux partition
b) By mistake I opened the Explorer and clicked the Mouse on H: partition and left it like that (forgot)
c) I opened Add/Remove program list but did nothing, to do few uninstalls after partition deletion.
d) Now I opened compmgmt.msc for Disk Management then deleted the H: partition!
Then XP reacted strangely and got almost hung
e) Then I switched OFF and ON the PC.
f) Most shocking was GRUB screen vanished (crash console appears) which means that Linux partition got deleted instead of H: partition!!
It's important to share with you that Fedora Core 12 possess the default BOOT flag. I thought that it's nothing big deal, only a case of Boot flag toggle with DOS bootable CD but am shell shocked to find after hitting the fdisk from DOS it says Error reading the disk!!! I felt like collapsed for a while, don't know how I did such a mistake. how to boot into my Windows XP. I can't afford to loose data or bear the expense on Data recovery
Okay I posted about this a while ago, and i got my wired network to work, but now i need my wireless card driver to work. I have been doing research and I found something called ndiswrapper which drivers from windows working in linux. I typed in lspci in the terminal and it gave me my specs of my wireless card which is a:
-Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4306 802.11b/g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 03)
-Some people said there is no original driver for this card, so you need to use ndiswrapper, I was wondering does anybody know what this is, how do i use this, and help me out to get my wireless card going. If you give me instructions, please be really specific as I am really new and still getting the hang of commands.
I am using a core ftp client on windows. Is there any similar software available on Ubuntu so that I can completely switch to Ubuntu.
