Fedora :: Share The Process To Make Xampp Work On F64 Bit?

Jul 22, 2009

I've just installed LAMPP on F11 I wanted to share the process to make Xampp work on linux (fedora) 64 bit.

1- Download Lampp : [URL]../en/xampp-linux.html#374
2- log as root, and unzip the archive file in "/opt" : it is installed !
3- to launch lampp : log as root (or sudo), and use "/opt/lampp/lampp start"

You should have error messages ! So do the following : - modify "/opt/lampp/lampp" : comment this part of the script [URL]..it-rhel.html):

# XAMPP is currently 32 bit only
#case `uname -m` in
# *_64)
# if /opt/lampp/bin/php -v > /dev/null 2>&1
# then
# :
# else

Fedora Servers :: SSL Apache Non-Standard Port

Mar 21, 2009

I have been struggling with this for the past two days and I can't seem to figure it out.SIMPLE GOAL: use subdomains with my wildcard Rapid SSL cert on Apahce2. This is not a chained certificate.Currently my default SSL virtual host, listening on 443 works fine. So, https://www.myDomain.com is recognized correctly by all browsers. But, the below virtual host listening on port 1025 is not coming across to the browser securely. The page renders, but the browsers do not see it as encrypted SSL.

Fedora Networking :: Apache Listen To Assigned Port 80

Aug 29, 2010

On Fedora 13 is there anywhere else on the system that I have to change to get Apache to Listen to an assigned port, something other than 80. Suppose for instance I wanted Apache to Listen on port 94. I told by the site that their router is forwarding apache to port 94. That doesn't mean I change the Listen in httpd.conf. correct. Apache is still expecting connection on port 80 but in this case 80 then gets forwarded in the router to 94. This is my understanding.

Fedora Networking :: Port Forwarding For Apache Server At Home Network

Feb 7, 2010

I am setting up Apache (Fedora 12) inside my home network. From inside my home network I access it without any problem. I need to set it up to access it from internet. I have the following questions. Here is temporary setup for testing purpose.
Internet-->ADSL modem (SEIMENS Speed Stream 4200)---> Apache (Fedora 12)

1. Do I have to do any kind of ports forwarding on ADSL modem. (There is no option to do port forwarding on Modem) May be I need different Model of Modem??
2. I tired to Ping my real IP for modem form another computer from internet. I am even unable to PING the ADSL 's real IP. Why it is that?

a) what version should i use that would fit and boot on a floppy?

b) is there any place i can still easily find that version?

c) what is the process (if any) to make the disk bootable (like msdos boot format)

d) can this boot floppy then be installed on a local drive?

i know that seems like a lot but they all kind of go hand in hand from my experience using DOS in such a way. im still out there searching but kudos to anyone who can help.

Fedora :: Using Iptables To Make Port 22 Accessible Through 4455 Externally

Apr 16, 2011

Have previously moved my ssh server from 22 to 4455 just by moving the port in sshd_config. This is done to minimize the log entries resulting from brute force attacks.However, it seems like Zimbra and other local services expect to find the ssh service locally available on port 22, so I figured it's better to move the port in the firewall so that it remains configured on port 22 in sshd_config, and instead use iptables with a nat/port rewrite to move 4455 incoming to 22 locally.

Isolated this works as long as I also keep allowing port 22, but the moment I close port 22, port 4455 is also dead, which sort of defies the purpose

General :: Kill Process Hogging Tcp Port?

Feb 25, 2010

I just bought an SSL cert and installed on my Apache server. When I restarted something went wrong so I had to change some config stuff and when I tried to restart apache for the second time I got this:

$ sudo apache2ctl start
(98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address [::]:80
(98)Address already in use: make_sock: could not bind to address 0.0.0.0:80
no listening sockets available, shutting down
Unable to open logs

Problem is that apache isn't running. For some reason there is something hogging my tcp 80 port, preventing apache from starting properly. How do I fix this? Is there a way to "free" a port?

I'm running a server with Ubuntu 10.04 installed. I recently set up a VirtualHost (I'll call it my.website.com), like I have in the past without any problems. But this time, I'm stumped. When I connect to my.website.com, it should hit port 80, right? It doesn't; rather, it hits port 8000. I don't have any rewrites/redirections (I checked wherever possible) and checked apache2.conf (httpd.conf is empty).

Ubuntu Security :: Mystery Process Keeps Using Trying Port 1900

According to firestarter, there's some process on my machine that keeps trying to access port 1900, every two minutes exactly. I don't know what it is. I've tried netstat -tnlp, but it doesn't show up. Presumably I have to do it at the exact second the process is trying to access the port. Does anyone know of a bash subroutine that will keep doing netstat -pl until it finds a process on port 1900?

Security :: Allow Apache To Send SIGHUP To Root Process?

Feb 18, 2010

I have been tasked with sending a kill -s SIGHUP (a reload) to a Daemon process owned by root running on a centOS 5.4 machine.

Obviously, Apache cannot normally do this, so I'm going to have to use the sudoers file.

My problem is, how do I allow the Apache user to only run the kill command? nothing else.

in testing, I've gotten Apache to basically run every command prefixed with sudo and no password prompting. But I want the added security to only run the kill command without the password being prompted everything else should prompt for a password.

I'm trying to understand the sudoers file, and i must say, its non-trivial.

is there a simple 1 line I can put in the sudoers file like

PHP Code:

apache   ALL=(ALL)   NOPASSWD: /bin/kill
